Chapter 39: Festival Part I
After a few hours of idle testing, they discovered that the ability could be used several times in a row, as long as the timer was at zero. This was very good and useful. They went to Masaru, who was very happy with the discovery. He asked the three of them to try to reach the twelfth floor and use the item he had given them, and then the other item that had been delivered earlier. Both were useful and had almost similar uses.
The first looked like a pendant. The item activated boss events, which had a scheduled duration of up to three hours. After that time, any monsters that had not been defeated disappeared. The cooldown time was one week.
The second item, the crystal, was an unlimited spawn item. For five hours, the spawn rate and time were ignored, and monsters appeared until they reached the physical limit of the dungeon. This item could be used more than three times in a row, and some could even be used more than ten times, but it depended on many factors. Kaede initially did not know this, but, after researching it, she discovered that the item was even more expensive than she had thought.
This item was the best option for the three of them. At a cost of five hundred gold coins, for five hours they would have all the monsters defeated. It was a farm for crystals, drops, and experience.
They needed to reach level 25 to register for the entrance exam of Red Dragon Imperial University, so using these items would make the entire process easier for them to achieve a good position.
Masaru looked at all the crystals scattered across the floor. Kaede was sitting on the floor while counting the drops. Haru was watching her panties. He liked sky-blue panties, the color matched her hair. She knew he was watching her, but this time she completely ignored the lustful gaze coming from him. She was only concerned about the crystals and other drops.
Mio explained to Masaru what they had done.
"You will receive seven hundred and fifty gold coins," she said as she stood up. "The deposit will be made today."
She left the room with all the items.
"How much did you spend on this collection?" Masaru asked.
"We spent two hundred gold coins."
Masaru thought for a few seconds.
"You didn’t use that item, or did you?"
"No, actually, we wanted to ask for permission to use it."
"You don’t need any new authorization, use it whenever you want. But I think it would be better for you to try using it on the tenth floor and, if possible, use it with that pendant. I want to know what happens when both items are used at the same time. Use the pendant first and then the crystal. At another time, I want the opposite to be done. I’m curious to know whether the order in which the items are used will affect the events in any way."
"What do you mean?"
"The pendant will activate the boss event. Will the bosses spawn along with the normal monsters when the crystal is used?" He paused. "If the boss event is activated after the crystal, will the bosses also be affected?"
"I understand the doubt. We’ll do that tomorrow. We’re too tired to continue with this today."
In Mio’s room, Haru was sitting on the sofa while watching Mio and Hina change clothes. He had gotten dressed quickly. He always did this to have more time to watch the two of them.
"Do you think there is a difference depending on which item is used first?"
"I don’t know, we’ll only know by testing it, but there may really be a difference," Mio replied while putting on very small panties.
"What will we do now?" Haru asked.
"We’re going out, we need to relax and spend the money we earned," Mio said while putting on a miniskirt that showed part of her buttocks and panties. The small crop top pressed against her breasts, making the shape of her stiffened nipples visible beneath the fabric.
That was perfection.
Hina was wearing a transparent crop top over a short, tight-fitting top, which left part of her breasts visible through the fabric.
Haru was wearing the same boring clothes as always.
"Do you drink?"
"No, I don’t like the taste. I tried it when I was younger, and the taste made me never want to try it again."
"That’s a shame, a great shame."
"We can go to that festival. There will be some games, food, and other things we can discover there."
The idea did not seem bad, but Mio wanted a little more action.
The three of them stood watching a fat man. His thick fingers could not fit through the trigger guard of a gun. He tried many times and gave up. He was disappointed. The stall owner refused to return the copper coins to the fat man. Haru decided to intervene.
"Let me shoot in his place," Haru said, picking up the pistol.
The fat man did not object. The stall owner accepted, although he was not happy about it.
Haru missed the first two shots and then hit the last three. He won a stuffed rabbit and two movie tickets. Haru handed the prizes to the fat man, who quickly gave the rabbit to his girlfriend, who was very beautiful and had very large breasts and a perfect butt. Haru wondered how a woman like that could want to date a man like him. Without an answer, he paid thirty copper coins for thirty bullets.
The stall owner did some mental calculations. Haru had missed two shots and hit three. Considering that, Haru could receive eighteen prizes at most, and that was terrible, since he would lose money against someone who could hit so many targets.
But he did not know that Haru had missed on purpose. Haru figured that if he hit every shot the first time, the man would refuse to sell the bullets to him. But the idea was foolish, since he had hit many shots on his first attempt.
"Hina and Mio, choose what you want."
Mio pointed at a pink rabbit that was at the top. The target beside it was very small, very difficult for someone to hit. But Haru simply aimed and concentrated. He hit the target very easily. The stall owner was startled by Haru’s accuracy.
’Did he trick me?’ the man thought.
Hina pointed at a stuffed bear that was the size of a person. The target was even smaller, but Haru easily hit it. Then, he fired three shots, one at each movie ticket. The three of them could now watch a movie together.
The stall owner wanted to prevent him from taking any more shots. He was thinking of something to say, but he could not think of anything.
"I can’t let you continue."
"For what reason?"
He did not answer. He remained silent while waiting for some idea to come to him. He managed to think of something.
"You’re a shooter, aren’t you?"
Haru looked at the man. Haru’s serious gaze made the man step backward.
"No, I’m not a shooter," he replied while trying to display his class on the status screen. He could not do it. Mio explained how to do it.
[Class: Accountant]
The man calmly looked and saw the level, an imperial-level class.
The man fell silent. He stopped complaining about Haru, since he could not think of anything else.
Haru chose a blue fedora for himself and some other stuffed animals, which he divided equally between the two of them. The man handed over all the prizes, but the man’s gaze was that of someone who had been defeated.
Haru did not know it, but the gun had been rigged. He was supposed to miss most of his shots, but since he was a little bad at shooting, this became an advantage.
