Chapter 124: Weak Reason
Silas looked ahead after Riker was done. The snake and the figure stood while looking at Silas.
"I’m guessing you have something to do with why the snake got this strong," Silas said.
The figure gave no reply. It simply pointed its hand forward, and the massive fireball was hurled in the direction of Silas.
Silas gritted his teeth and controlled a gust of wind to start rushing around him in the form of a ball. He poured as much mana as he could into it and created a thick ball of wind.
"I’m not going to let Master down and die here."
The fireball slammed into Silas. A massive explosion followed. Shockwaves ripped through the air and into the trees. Dust and debris rose, as well as the temperature. By the time the attack ended, a massive burn was left on the ground, and at the center was Silas, who was covered in burns but still standing.
He staggered, almost like he would fall, but then caught himself. He gritted his teeth and looked up, his eyes burning with intensity.
"Is that all you have? I’ve seen better flames from my master," he declared, then pressed his foot hard into the ground, launching forward like a rocket. He leaped into the air.
The three-headed snake locked onto him with all three heads. The head on the left launched first, coming in hot. Silas glanced at it and then moved. He waited until the last moment before compressing wind into his hand and slamming it into the mouth of the snake at point-blank range, knocking the head back as blood gushed out.
The right head rushed in as well, trying to get him before he got further. Silas spun in the air and used the wind to push himself higher above the head, then proceeded to blast it with a huge gust of compressed wind to send it down. He landed on the head and rushed down the body while the center head came with an attack.
"You are not good enough!" Silas roared and slashed with his hand, unleashing a wind claw. It slammed into the snake and cut deep into its face. Blood gushed into the air while the head jerked back. Silas leaped off the neck while using the wind to propel himself and also compressing wind into his closed fist.
He swung with everything that his body had to offer at the moment. The fist slammed into the head of the snake with so much force that it cracked on impact. The entire snake was sent falling to the ground with a massive boom.
Silas landed on the ground, his breathing shaky, his entire body trembling. The pain was getting to him, yet he gritted his teeth and refused to let up.
The figure standing there looked at him and then spoke in a voice so distorted that you could not tell who it belonged to.
"Why do you do this? Fight this hard, that is?"
"Hahaha," Silas laughed and then raised his head. "Why do I fight? Because I have one hell of a master, and I want to impress him."
"Hmm, such a shallow reason," the figure spoke and then lifted a finger. It glowed at the tip with a red light, and then a blast of compressed energy left the finger and traveled as fast as a bullet.
Silas stepped in and leaned to the side. He evaded the attack as it breezed right past his face. Silas felt the attack go by, and he knew that if it hit, it would be a bad one.
Gritting his teeth, he spun his body and charged in. The figure began to unleash a barrage of attacks, firing rapidly.
Silas weaved through every attack. He moved like a phantom, untouchable with his crazy agility. But that could only last so long. As he got closer, the attacks became more compact. A few grazed his skin. They seared it badly, but he did not care. He pushed past it and kept moving.
The figure showed no reaction to the fact that Silas was getting close. Even when Silas broke through and launched a punch, he stood there. The punch slammed into an invisible barrier that hurled Silas back several meters.
Silas rolled on the ground until he hit a tree and stopped. His entire body screamed in pain. He gritted his teeth and struggled to rise to his feet again, looking at the figure with the same burning intensity.
"I have to commend you, wolf. I never would have thought I would see someone with this much conviction and such a weak reason."
"That’s where you are wrong. You believe my reason is weak because it is not grand, but I do not expect anyone to understand," Silas said and straightened himself. He rolled his shoulders a few times and grimaced at the pain.
He placed both hands on the ground like a sprinter about to sprint, and as he launched, he transformed into his true form, rushing ahead faster than he had before. He unleashed Thundering Howl before even getting halfway to the figure. The compressed wind slammed into the invisible shield of the figure.
Silas didn’t stop. He came in hot. The figure unleashed the same finger attack. Silas launched from side to side and evaded the attack, and when he was close, he slammed his paws into the ground and caused a blast of wind to rush forward along the ground, and somehow it went under the shield and swept the figure, sending him to the ground.
Silas saw this as his chance. He leaped into the air, pouncing on the man in an attempt to end this here, but right when he was about to land, he was suddenly suspended in the air for a moment. Then he looked down and saw the figure’s finger pointed up. It unleashed the same attack, but this time Silas could not dodge. Every blast landed at full force, and when it ended, Silas collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
