Chapter 84: Unusual Summons
"Shit," Ren cursed as his eyes locked on the blood that had changed color. He could tell that something bad was about to happen. It was the kind of feeling you had and could not explain, a gut feeling.
He stepped back fast. His instincts told him to. His gaze did not leave Ken on the ground for even a brief moment.
Suddenly, the black blood spread faster. It created a five-meter by five-meter puddle of dark blood, and Ken was lying at the center. His eyes snapped open, and the white of his pupils was gone. All that remained was black, an eerie, skin-crawling black.
"What the hell is happening?"
Ren felt the urge to attack and end whatever was happening. He clenched his fists and drew a breath.
He dashed.
Before he could get to Ken, a large hand shot out of the dark puddle. It was black and covered in scales, with claws a few inches long and a metal shin that caught the light coming through the banner of trees.
Ren was unable to react as the hand swung and slammed into his chest, hurling him back through the air. He slammed into a tree, and it shattered on impact. He watched as the splinters flew and his body spun.
He slammed into the ground hard, bouncing roughly off the ground before finally stopping as he dug his claws and foot into the ground. He looked up. His gaze said it all. He understood that something was off here, and the situation had changed.
Getting back on his feet, he looked ahead, and what he saw stunned him. From the dark puddle, a monstrous creature had pulled itself out. It stood at a staggering eight feet tall. A hunched-over monster with legs so slim they didn’t look like they could carry it. Its hands were extremely long. They almost touched the ground where it stood. Its entire body was covered in black matte scales.
The creature looked at Ren with its two blood-red eyes, the shape of its head like that of a T-Rex. It could look right in front, and right now it was looking right at Ren.
A few moments passed. More of the same monsters began pulling themselves out of the puddle, so many that they got to twenty. Ren still had a feeling that he was not seeing all that was to be seen. There could be more inside the puddle.
He looked past the creatures, and his eyes landed on Ken. Ken had a smile that stretched from ear to ear, the kind of smile you saw on a psychopath when things went their way.
"You forced my hand to go this far," Ken started. "If you had just chosen to die, you stupid dragon, I would not have had to pull out my trump card."
His breathing was heavy, as if what was happening was taking a heavy toll on him. Ren spotted that and made a mental note of it. He knew that whatever this summoning was, it was only for a limited time.
"Seems I overestimated you, Ken. If you pull out your trump card so early, and you have not gotten to see even fifty percent of me, that makes you far too weak," Ren expressed, smiling and shaking his head.
The words stabbed the heart of the already sensitive Ken. His brows twitched, and he snapped.
"Kill him!" he yelled and pointed at Ren. The creatures bolted at Ren, moving at stupendous speeds for their size.
I could fly into the air and attack them from above and win this, but I need the EXP. It’s time I level up a bit.
The first one came in fast and lunged at Ren, both hands swinging to catch Ren at the center. Ren pulled back. He evaded both while stepping to the side and spinning. His hands moved fast and grabbed the hands of the creature.
He tugged down fast.
As the head of the monster came in close, he kicked off the ground, spun in the air, and sent a kick into the face of the creature with the back of his heel. The force dug deep into the head, instantly cracking a huge part of the skull.
Dark red blood and flesh scattered into the air. The creature was knocked to the side but not yet dead. Ren let go and landed on the ground in time to jump up and evade the attack of two at the same time.
While in the air, his eyes darted left and right. Their heads were too far out. His legs would not reach, so he changed attacks.
Rendering Claw
The claw attack ripped both ways and hit the chests and necks of both creatures. Blood gushed out as they staggered back. He landed back on the ground, and one lunged at him, its elongated claws already reaching for the kill.
"Not that simple." Ren stretched out his hand. A purple glow formed, and the gravity around the creature doubled, sending it to the ground fast, only to be met with a full-on kick to the head that shattered it on impact, the first kill.
[You have gained 500 EXP] x10
Five hundred? Heck yeah.
When he saw how much he could gain by farming these summons, his adrenaline rose. He immediately used his vision to start seeing better, knowing the location of every attacker in an instant.
Multiple creatures leaped at him from behind at the same time. He spun around, foot planted on the ground, and thrust both hands forward, unleashing a blast of compressed lightning, ripping through the chests of two, with the blast sending the rest flying.
[You have gained 1000 EXP] x10
[Level up +4 stat points]
He was now gaining EXP and leveling up at a stunning pace, much like when he had come here the first time.
"Hahahaha," Ren let out a laugh. This was about to benefit him far more than the person who had sent out the summons.
