48 Hours a Day

Chapter 190 Demonstrations

Honig was an old man, and it was too late to go back to the fort after he had handled what happened last night, but he opened his eyes again shortly after lying down.

Perhaps knowing that you don't have much time left, older people will always cherish the rest of the day.

Hornig got dressed, put on his own triangle cap, had a hot breakfast that his men had just brought back from town, and was getting better.

Especially when he climbed the walls in accordance with past practice, overlooking the city of Nassau at his feet, the satisfaction in his heart grew.

Nassau is not a Governor recognized by England, and the closest thing on the island is Honig, who has assumed some of the Governor's duties, who occupies fortifications and guns and controls the island's maritime defence.

Of course, all he said to Black Prince Sam last night was a tantrum. In fact, he was quite satisfied with his current situation. He had planned his retirement a long time ago. Although he was still famous at that time, and Fraser also called Nassau's two most powerful captains, he was no better than he had been in the past. Years of piracy had brought him not only wealth, but all sorts of hidden diseases, especially rheumatism, which had tortured his knee for a long time.

So eight years ago, Honig decided to leave the ocean, and someone grabbed it and lived another life.

He agreed with Parliament that he and his men would defend Nassau and maintain day-to-day order here, while businessmen on the island would pay him a regular maritime defence maintenance fee.

This maintenance fee is modest and almost negligible in comparison to the ongoing trade on the island, but it is better than the number of contributors, so collectively it is also an impressive income.

Even if it is not comparable to when he goes out to sea to be a pirate, the difference is not so great. More importantly, he does not have to take any risks and no longer goes out to sea, avoiding the deterioration of rheumatism.

Hornig, however, also had his troubles, and he and his crew, far from the unstable sea, lived a life where they could sit and earn money, but that life was also terrible for the dissipation of the will, because of the lack of fighting, staying in the fortress for long periods of time, their bodies began to rust and, more importantly, the lack of fresh blood.

While every battle comes down as a pirate, there are newcomers to add to it, which is actually a winning and weakening mechanism, where unqualified elderly people are replaced by better newcomers.

And now on land, along with Honig, are the old faces on the previous boat, and even if these people start to laze, there's no way in Honig to fire them for having a previous relationship, to hire new, more combative people with this money, and even if they hire new people, Honig can't trust them like old people.

Fortunately, he had a previous reputation, and the rest of the island had not yet discovered the degradation of their strength, but Honig was well aware that the fighting power of his men was now less than half as good as it had been when they first landed.

Since he was able to take the fort from others, others could also take it from his weak hands.

The more he needed to show his tough side at a time like this, so last night, when Skull shelled Nassau's beach, Honig arrived at the first hour, and yet confronted the gang, especially in the face of young and powerful Wilton, despite his good cover, he felt a little bitter.

Fortunately, Wilton chose to make concessions to ensure that Nassau would no longer cause trouble, and Honig's oblivion behind the steps indicated that he would not hold Nassau accountable for its previous shelling.

As far as Karina's interests were concerned, they were no longer within Honig's purview, and everyone knew that the days of the women businessmen on the island were coming to an end.

Hornig thought it would be a happy ending here, but he didn't expect Zhang Heng to come back and attack Wilton's docked ship without hesitation in order to give Karina an appearance, further exacerbating the contradiction.

Then, things began to slide in the direction that Hornig least wanted to see, especially when Black Prince Sam was also involved, and if a massive clash broke out between the two sides and he was unable to control the situation, there would soon be someone in his heart who would notice his weakness, so he would warn Zhang Heng.

Honig sees that Wilton's group should just pass by and not stay too long in Nassau, and the best result is that we all spend this time together peacefully.

But things didn't go the way he expected.

Honig was sitting in his seat, which he had moved out of a Governor's study during a coastal robbery, and had always been one of his favorite things, just sitting there reminded him of the days when the seven seas had been scolded.

He was enjoying the rare tranquillity and peace on the wall, but found that there was another crowd gathering on that beach last night, surrounded by density and numbness, which appeared to be more than last night.

Hornig frowned, "What happened? ”

Behind him, a bald man with a tummy shrugged his shoulders, the former rudder of his boat and one of the most intelligent men in the area, but has now completely become an alcoholic. Shortly after dawn, he drunk himself again, hiccups, "Who knows, there may be a fishing boat selling seafood. ”

“I've seen fishing boats sell seafood, Domingo, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't a TMD fishing boat selling seafood, sending someone to find out what the hell happened in that damn place, and we're in a sensitive time, and I don't want to see any more accidents. ”

“As you wish.” Domingo shook out, and Honig couldn't help but sigh at the latter's blessed shadow.

Half an hour later, the person in charge of the investigation came back in panic and shouted before entering the gate, "WILTON, WILTON!!! ”

Hornig now hears the name and he gets a headache, "What's wrong with that guy? ”

“No, Wilton's dead!” The news brought back by those who scouted the beach made Honig a little unbelievable.

He couldn't imagine how Wilton, with two pirate ships, more than 200 men, with his own strength, was suddenly killed just one night later, but then Honig heard something even more unbelievable.

“Not only Wilton, but his men were found dead on the boat this morning, and the vast majority of them had their throats slit, as for Wilton... his body was thrown on the beach, where the sailor of the Breeze had been executed, and his stomach had been cut open. ”
