48 Hours a Day

Chapter 250: Special Leah

Leah insisted on saving people and making it less easy to sneak out of the estate.

So Laura proposed to do a big vote and encourage more people to join the escape, but she was cautious and didn't immediately tell the others, instead she only revealed it to a few trusted people at lunch the next day to prepare them.

This will minimize early leakage of information, while Leah on the other side has important things to do, taking advantage of the opportunity to organize Malcolm's study once a week to bring out all the correspondence in the study that relates to Normand and Raymond.

What worries Leah most is that Malcolm will remain in the study until cleaning time.

But the good news is Malcolm seemed to have something going on that day and left the estate early in the morning.

By the afternoon, Leah had come outside the study as usual to greet the guard at the door with a smile, and as the door closed behind her, Leah had a long soothing breath, but there was not much time left for her to clean up the house after shaving it off.

Leah quickly walked to a bookcase and opened the drawer below, but there was nothing in it. Leah was shocked that the letters were still there when she cleaned last week.

Is Malcolm letting people take away all the important things in the study because of the recent tense atmosphere and Nadia and Daisy?

But Malcolm doesn't pay much attention to those things, either, based on the storage and placement of those letters.

Leah forced herself to calm down from the panic, contemplating the possibilities, and at the same time she kept flipping through the study, but never found any sign of those letters.

Leah's mind also began to get more and more nervous, but at this time she was busy making errors. As she retreated, she accidentally ran into a slightly shorter cabinet on the other side and the binaural porcelain bottle placed on it fell down.

By the time Leah twisted her head, it was too late, the bottle had fallen to the ground, and the carpet was still on the ground. The bottle had not been completely broken, but one ear had been broken.

Leah was pale, and she knew that this was Malcolm's favorite porcelain bottle, brought back by an adventurer from a distant and mysterious ancient Eastern country, worth hundreds of times the price of the city alone, and she was extra careful when cleaning before.

But this time, Leah made a big mistake because she didn't notice the letters because she was distracted.

And Leah heard footsteps coming from outside the study before she could think of a remedy.

That was Malcolm's unique step, faster than the average person, but every step was stable, and the interval was almost the same, as if he were himself, efficient, serious and calm.

The guard outside pushed Malcolm's door open and the latter picked an eyebrow and saw Leah holding the porcelain bottle with one hand and wiping the cabinet with the other.

Malcolm seemed in a good mood today, to Leah, “Stop cleaning and let the kitchen bake some steak. ”

“Okay, haven't you eaten lunch yet?” Leah turned around and blocked the binaural porcelain bottle with her body, trying to squeeze a smile on her face.

“Well, I ate two bites of apple pie on the way, but it tasted average.” Good thing Malcolm didn't look this way, picked up the bottle, and Leah hurried over and poured him half a glass of wine, and Malcolm moistened his voice.

“I heard Wallace say you and Daisy had a good relationship. ”

Leah was shocked to hear that Malcolm suspected her, and then heard the latter go, “Do you know who she was walking with? ”

“This...” Leah hesitated.

“What, are you worried about telling me that you'll be ostracized by the others later? But aren't you already expelled by the others? ”

Leah was a little surprised that Malcolm didn't even know about this.

“Surprisingly, the preference I give you naturally arouses dissatisfaction with others who dare not hate me and have to pass this hatred on to the nearest you to me, but that way I can also know what the unstable elements of the estate are, don't worry, I won't let them hurt you, haven't you noticed that the worst of all these years and your relationship has gone missing?” Malcolm drank all the red wine in the glass, "and I can rest assured that you're working for me. ”

Instead of being happy, Leah raised a bitter chill in her heart.

In fact, Laerie had given her a peek at Malcolm's letters before, and there was a hint of guilt in her heart, no matter what other black slaves in the estate thought of Malcolm, at least the latter had always been nice to her, and after all these years following Malcolm wet her ears, even though Leah still had black skin, her mind was actually closer to that of white people on the island.

It also made her a heterogeneous member of the community, and Leah sometimes even felt that Malcolm understood her better than her own compatriots, who played a role similar to that of father and mentor in her development, where Leah did feel a little warm.

However, it turns out that this was just her hallucination, and Malcolm treated her differently, not really because of how special she was, but because she needed someone who looked somewhat “special”.

“Well, I'm hungry, go and rush the kitchen to cook.” Malcolm's done, “by the way, the weather has been quite tidy lately. Before I leave in the morning, I'll ask someone to take all the books in the study out to get some sun exposure. Go and collect them at sunset. ”

“Okay.” Leah nodded, exiting the study.

…………

Tonight is destined to be a sleepless night.

When the clock in the living room pointed to 12 o'clock, Laura alerted the other waitress in the next bed to the latter's intention to escape, while the same thing happened in the other room, where more than twenty black waitresses eventually met in Leah's room.

Nearly half of the black waitresses in the estate, with the exception of the Laeri, the rest of the black women who were willing to flee were essentially clustered together, while those who feared escape and were captured and sentenced were tied up by Laura to keep their mouths shut to prevent them from whistling and, secondly, for their own good. Otherwise, they would certainly be punished if Leah and others escaped.

As for the male slaves, they don't live here, they're led by other people's organizations.

Leah's eyes swept across a face in the room, and she saw in their eyes a glimmer, a fear, and a desire for freedom, so the next moment she had no hesitation in her heart, she said, "Let's break the shackles around her neck together, sisters. ”
