48 Hours a Day

Chapter 602: Carrots

Zhang Heng eventually arrived in Lincoln County one day ahead of schedule.

On the night of his encounter with the bailiff, he asked the other party to teach him the basics of riding. Morton's patience was good, not only was question-and-answer, but he also showed him personally, correcting some of his erroneous postures.

So Zhang Heng finally ended the learning process that the blind man had touched before him. The whole teaching lasted until the second half of the night. Poor bailiff didn't expect him to pay such a big price for a bowl of corn paste. The next morning, when the two broke up, he was still in arrears because of lack of sleep.

In the following time, Zhang Heng continued his journey, while also working out his riding skills.

Of course, back pain can still cause back pain, and some things can change immediately if you don't know how to adapt to it.

However, the good news is that Zhang Heng's riding technique is indeed in constant progress. Although there has been no change in the skill panel, he can personally feel this progress. At least some of his basic actions are now fine.

Zhang Heng, by the way, also gave his first horse a name - radish, after all, it's not a good idea to always scream like a hairy horse.

He made a planned supply along the way and then arrived at his destination without incident.

The county of Lincoln County still looks lively. It's a lot bigger than the two towns he went to before. I hear there are two mining areas nearby and many farms, so there are a lot of residents living here. The county's banks, telegraph bureaus, grocery stores, hotels, bars are a lot, and even schools, newspapers and other places are good for a settlement.

Zhang Heng jumped down from the back of the radish and patted the dust on his body.

He can be described as a wind and dust servant on the road. Six days, five nights spent in the wild, corn paste can't tell what the smell is. Now, whether it's about settling in or looking for lucky horseshoes, he has temporarily left it behind. The most important thing is to find a place to take a hot bath and have a big meal.

Until then, however, he had a little problem to solve.

Shortly after entering the town, he felt a faint hostility along the road, an old man sitting in the sun at the door of his room, and when he saw him, he spat on the ground, and the drool was so dead that it fell less than two steps away in front of the radish.

There were two other cowboys who used to measure past the girl by the stables, and one of them whistled, “Hey, Oriental boy, you'd better roll wherever you come from, you're not welcome here. ”

This is a situation he experienced once in the previous town, not strange, and Zhang Heng's solution is simple.

He pulled his gun and knocked out the old man's felt not far away.

The latter stood still, then immediately began to curse his mouth, and all the obscene words cursed out. Until Zhang Heng broke the cup in his hand again, he was like suddenly strangled throat, closed his mouth, an old face held red.

The two cowboys obviously didn't expect the arrivals to be so arrogant that they didn't even pull their guns out of the quarrel.

The second revolver in Zhang Heng's hand was pointing at them when they were also in a hurry to pull the gun.

“If I were you, I'd go to the bar and have a drink before the sun goes down. After all, life is short and no one knows what's going to happen next. ”

The two cowboys glanced at each other, and although their eyes were full of discomfort, they eventually retreated to their side.

Then Zhang Heng looked at the old man in the sun and said, "Hey, looks like you're going to change the cup. I hope the next cup will last longer. ”

The latter jumped straight at the blues of the sentence, shivering even with his arms.

But now that the gun is pointing at his head, he can't say a word, no matter how angry he gets.

But at this point, there was another voice.

“You've got what you want, now, can you put away your weapon? ”

It was a middle-aged man, about fifty years old, wearing a dirty shirt with a hint of alcohol on his body, and if it weren't for the badge on his chest, which also looked dusty, he'd probably be treated as a homeless man.

But he came out of the police station, and if it wasn't an accident, it should be the sheriff here.

Although the middle-aged drunk in front of him and Morton, whom Zhang Heng had met in Gobi before, were legal personnel, the two were somewhat different, and the magistrates, also commonly referred to as sheriffs, were elected by the towns to maintain regional stability and sometimes worked part-time as local judges to hold trials.

Judicial police officers, also known as magistrates, are usually affiliated with the Federation, and the main task on weekdays is to hunt down or escort fugitives.

Both belong locally and federally, but of course the main nature of the work is to maintain stability in a region and to punish evil.

Zhang Hengyui saw that the sheriff of Lincoln County had appeared and had simply put away his pistol.

He came here to settle, not to pick things up, to piss off ordinary people and say that if he really pissed off the sheriff here, he would have to turn around and leave.

However, Zhang Hengdao did not regret the previous move. Although cowboys and pirates are not the same kind of people, they still have a lot of similarities in their bones, or the creatures like humans themselves have a lot in common. Zhang Henggang's two guns are not just for the purpose of exporting gas, but also to send a signal that I am not good at.

Given his skin colour, the west of this era is the beginning of hell's difficulty. Being alone in a new land does not mean that you will be safe when you shrink. Rather than waiting for people to bully you constantly, things are getting worse and worse. It is better to use this opportunity to make things bigger once and for all.

Someone who wants to bite again, or their hands bite, will consider the consequences of doing so in advance.

Of course, this is not to say that Zhang Heng will be fine after that. In fact, things are more serious than he thought. Zhang Heng, while temporarily deterring these people, is not easy to live in a hostile environment, and this is a world where everyone has guns. If you really want to do something, don't be simpler.

A few cups of whiskey on top, plus a few words of provocation, will allow a person to completely abandon reason, Zhang Hengqiang can't single-handedly pick the whole town, plus he can't always be around 24 hours a day for those around him, he will also be human and tired, he can do it for a day or two, even a week, but one day his spirit will not hold up.

Zhang Heng has begun to realize that it is not easy to settle Lincoln County in the first half of the main task.
