Chapter 236 - 225: Guan Tong’s First Class

In the Psychic Power Flow classroom.

It was the first day of class, and the students had all arrived early.

The course was very popular, so it was held in the academy’s largest classroom.

Some of these students came from extraordinary backgrounds; some looked like meticulously trained elites, while others were already Ascenders with a measure of online fame.

They had chosen to spend a precious year at the academy for two main reasons. First, they wanted to further refine themselves and improve their strength.

Second, they had social needs. Compared to other groups, academy students had a longer average survival time, which meant they wouldn’t find a new acquaintance suddenly gone after a new rule appeared.

Furthermore, judging by the experiences of the first graduating class, who were assigned to various official departments across North Star, it was clear that the groups formed by academy students were destined to become highly influential in society.

As everyone was chatting, a girl walked into the classroom, immediately drawing everyone’s gaze.

The girl looked to be seventeen or eighteen, with a cool, pale complexion and deep-set eyes. She had exceptionally rare amethyst-colored irises and unusual silver-white eyelashes. Her long, pale-gold hair was swept up by a coronet adorned with freshwater pearls, giving her an incredibly noble appearance.

She wore a short, cyan-colored robe of goose down, its collar embroidered with an eagle-feather pattern. A platinum chain served as a belt, shimmering dazzlingly as it caught the light.

Her lavish attire and stunning beauty left all the students, both male and female, staring in a daze. It wasn’t until she found an empty seat in the front row and sat down that they began to whisper among themselves.

"Who is that? She’s gorgeous!"

"She must have an extraordinary background. You can tell just by the pearls on her coronet."

"She looks like a young noble lady from Sisiya..."

"Nobles from Sisiya come to the academy? I read online that their nobles are all privately educated."

"Times have changed..."

The girl’s arrival caused a stir, but the room soon quieted down again.

After most of the students had arrived, the lecturer was still nowhere to be seen, which drew a few complaints.

"Is this substitute lecturer even reliable? Class starts in less than five minutes, and he’s still not here."

"You think he’s going to show up at the last second?"

"When I took her online course, Lecturer Jingyi always arrived more than ten minutes early. Now that’s dedication."

"Just our luck, I guess. I hope she recovers and comes back soon."

Three minutes later, with about a minute to go before class officially began, Guan Tong arrived.

The moment he walked in, the noisy classroom fell silent.

Everyone looked at the substitute lecturer, and no matter how they sized him up, he just didn’t seem reliable.

It wasn’t that Guan Tong looked frivolous, but that he was too young. It was like the doubt many people feel when they go to a hospital and see a young doctor, wondering if they’re experienced enough.

This feeling wasn’t necessarily wrong; in some fields, experience is indeed more important than talent.

In the field of Psychic Power, although this energy had only existed for a little over a year, Shi Jingyi had practiced martial arts and channeling energy since childhood, giving her more experience than most.

As for Guan Tong, he felt that while his own experience might not be vast, it was certainly more than enough to teach these students.

"Hello, everyone. I’m Guan Tong. Until Lecturer Jingyi returns, I will be teaching the Psychic Power Flow course in her place."

After briefly explaining the situation, Guan Tong asked, "Unlike the first batch of students, I assume many of you have already built a foundation by watching the online courses."

The students nodded one after another.

"Can any of you perform a complete, full-body Psychic Power Flow?"

All the students remained silent. For them, "building a foundation" just meant memorizing some of the acupoints. Completing a full flow wasn’t foundational—it was a skill closer to graduation level.

"I can."

Just then, a voice with a hint of coldness spoke up. Everyone turned to see it was the stunningly beautiful girl from Sisiya in the front row. To their surprise, she spoke perfectly standard North Star Language.

Guan Tong looked over and nodded. "Good. I’ll check on you in a moment. As for the rest of you, for today’s first lesson, I will assist you in completing one flow."

"What? Assist us?"

"What kind of teaching method is that...?"

None of them had expected Guan Tong to teach this way, and they were all a bit stunned.

Guan Tong’s reasoning was simple: first, let the students get a feel for it. Afterward, they would have a clearer goal to strive for.

Shi Jingyi had only started doing this in the later stages of her teaching, but Guan Tong saw no need to follow her methods exactly.

Based on his own experience over the past year or so, his approach might be more efficient.

After speaking, Guan Tong started directly with the leftmost row.

His method of assisting them was simple: he would shake their hand, "invade" their body with his own Psychic Power, guide it through a complete flow from head to toe, and then withdraw it.

This was something only a person who had completely mastered the flow could do. By doing this, he was not only letting the students experience the sensation but also showing them that he, their substitute lecturer, was competent and not just there to waste time.

The first student watched Guan Tong extend his hand and hesitantly reached out his own.

As soon as their hands touched, the student immediately felt a surge of energy enter his body. His body instinctively resisted this foreign energy, but his resistance was too weak and was completely suppressed by the invading power.

Then, that energy completed a full circulation through all the acupoints in his body.

When it was over, Guan Tong withdrew his hand and asked, "How did it feel?"

The student was stunned for a few seconds, then his expression turned joyful. "So this is what a full-body flow feels like! It’s amazing!"

"Remember this feeling. In your future studies, just keep striving to get closer to it."

"Yes, sir!"

After the first, he proceeded in order with the second, third, and fourth students.

Some of the students who had initially doubted Guan Tong were convinced after personally experiencing the flow.

They knew very well that simply performing the flow on their own was already difficult. The fact that Guan Tong could manipulate his own Psychic Power to complete the flow inside their bodies was something only achievable with an extremely high level of mastery.

What shocked them even more was Guan Tong’s unimaginably vast reserves of Psychic Power.

Using Psychic Power was not without cost; even when extended and then retracted, there was some loss in the process. With so many students in the classroom, even a small loss for each one would accumulate to at least several hundred points.

Yet Guan Tong continued this process without stopping. He didn’t rest to recover or use any items to replenish his energy. This meant his maximum Psychic Power was incredibly high—probably several times their own.

This made them no longer dare to look down on Guan Tong. Regardless of his age, they all obediently focused on the sensation of the flow.

Guan Tong was highly efficient. At first, he assisted only one person at a time, but he soon switched to handling them in pairs. Holding one student’s hand with his left and the other’s with his right, he guided the flow for both simultaneously.

This ability to multitask stunned many of the students even more.

Even Guan Tong himself didn’t know when he had become capable of doing such a thing.

’It’s probably related to controlling my Shadow,’ he thought.

Especially after his Shadow learned to transform and split, his practice of controlling one, then several, then dozens, and eventually hundreds of Shadow Lines at once had been a form of multitasking training.

Not to mention, after his Shadow unlocked its five senses, he often received multiple streams of visual and auditory information simultaneously. Through this gradual process, he had developed the incredible ability that now amazed everyone.

After assisting all the students in the first row, Guan Tong moved on to the second.

The Sisiya girl who had claimed she could complete the flow was sitting at the head of the second row. When Guan Tong held out his hand, she hesitated.

"Is it inconvenient to shake hands? Then I’ll do it from a distance."

Doing it from a distance would consume a bit more Psychic Power, but it didn’t matter.

He could tell this girl was likely from the Sisiya nobility. The nobles of that country had a unique system of education with many rules, one of which might well be a prohibition against shaking hands with the opposite sex.

"Thank you," the girl said.

Guan Tong nodded and sent his Psychic Power toward the girl’s body from a distance, only to be met with a powerful repulsive force.

He immediately figured out the reason: the girl was wearing a Psychic Power defense item that was always active.

The girl seemed to realize this as well. She lowered her gaze slightly and then said, "You can try again now."

’Did she disable the item? No, this feels more like some kind of ability.’

’That’s her private business, though, so I won’t ask,’ Guan Tong thought.

He sent out his Psychic Power again, and this time it successfully entered her body.

He could sense that the girl’s Psychic Power Flow had already formed a preliminary cycle. If she continued to refine it, she should be able to reach graduation level in three or four months. Very impressive.

He withdrew his Psychic Power and said, "Your progress is excellent. In fact, you don’t even need to take this class. You could just continue practicing step-by-step on your own."

Hearing this, the other students were somewhat surprised and looked at the girl with envy.

The girl herself said nothing, but he could tell from her eyes that she had no intention of doing so.

After Guan Tong had assisted the last student with their flow, he announced that the first class was over.

The lesson contained no theoretical knowledge; Guan Tong had simply let every student personally experience the feeling and benefits of the flow. He believed this was far more effective than a dry lecture.

The students’ feedback was also very positive. They all smiled and said their goodbyes to Guan Tong as they left the classroom, feeling they had gained a lot.

After all the students had left and Guan Tong was heading out himself, he found the Sisiya girl standing by the door, seemingly waiting for him.

"Lecturer Guan Tong," she said, "I would like to ask for your help in accelerating my progress in mastering Psychic Power Flow."

"Accelerating? Your progress is already very fast."

"It’s not enough. I have less than two months, and I have a reason why I must completely master this technique within that time. Please help me." After speaking, the girl added, "I can offer additional compensation, either in Sublimation Coins or items."

"That won’t be necessary." Guan Tong thought for a moment and said, "I don’t like working overtime, but helping you isn’t out of the question. In return, since you have the fastest progress, you can be the class monitor. You’ll be responsible for handling some of the minor class affairs for me."

"..."

Although the girl was surprised, she nodded in agreement.

"Very well."

"Alright, I’ll go back and think about how to help you. By the way, what’s your name?"

"I am Yelena Novmir Stasia."

’A classic Sisiya name...’

Guan Tong said, "It’s a bit long. What should I call you? Stasia?"

"...You may."

"Alright. You can head back for now. I’ll tell you after the next class once I’ve figured something out."

"Do I need your contact information?"

"Mine? No need. We’ll see each other in class. There’s no need for private contact."

Guan Tong didn’t want to exchange contact information with students. He would likely be gone in a few months once Shi Jingyi returned, so there was no need to get too involved with the academy.

Yelena was a bit surprised to hear this, and she watched Guan Tong stride away.

It was unclear what she was thinking, but her brow furrowed slightly before her expression became firm. She muttered to herself in the Sisiya language, "I have two months at most. I must master it as soon as possible..."
