A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 510: The Ambush Temple Part 1

The “castle” that I visited for the first time, including in my previous life, was incredible enough to hide my surprise even as a realuse.

The stone used as a wall material is polished uniformly and beautifully in shape and size, and the main gate of the imperial castle is made of metal with the "magic letter" of "reinforcement" engraved.

According to the story, it seems to be three stories tall enough to look up, and there are guards standing there, butlers and maids busily interacting with each other. Some of them are wearing luxurious clothes, but they are probably noble.

Any soldier who visited Reus at the royal castle could see the high level of practice from his standing behavior, and when he heard that Natalia had visited for Reus' narrator, he complimented him, so he could see that he was courteous and educated.

(Exactly another world... you wouldn't get mad if you stepped on the carpet, would you?

Immediately after entering the main gate, Reurus looks at the carpet laid on the ground floor and thinks so. The red carpet with long hair and feet that is likely to be buried even at the ankle (ankle) is free of dirt due to frequent human traffic, and is there any special processing. Alternatively, the material itself may be special.

Paintings, pots, swords and armor were decorated all over the interior of the castle, but even with amateur eyes, I could understand that all of them were excellent works.

The inside of the imperial castle is very large, and the number of rooms seems to be quite large, and the accompanying corridors are here and there, but such exhibits are decorated everywhere and can be said to be suitable for the center of the big country.

"Baron Amendora, Reurus, please come here. I'll show you around."

As he stepped into the royal castle, the elderly butler appeared silently and offered to guide Reurus and the others. Natalia takes it for granted and nods, but as a revulsion, she can only pull her cheeks.

(I don't think I'm going to be “guided” by you... no, it's going to be like that from now on...)

Walking according to the leading butler, Reurus sighs in his heart. Still, moving only the gaze and observing the surroundings, I noticed that the gaze of observation was flying from the surroundings.

(... you're being watched.)

This is not true of butlers and maids, but as far as dress is concerned, the eyes of nobles and loved ones are turned. Although the number was not so large, some of them knew that Reurus and the others would come. Several of them solidified and even laughed, but only looked at him.

They smile and bow in the same way when Reurus and his gaze hit. For that reason, Reurus returned the grace, but there were some unpleasant signs.

I don't just look at the realuse, but I can feel the intention of exploring from that gaze. On the surface it looked like a friendly smile, but the line of sight had a sticky feeling.

Some people are smiling purely, but there is also the possibility that the color of observation is diluted so that "just looks like it” can't feel the revulsion. Once I doubted it, everything felt so fuzzy, and as a revulsion, I wanted to turn around at this stage and turn right and go home.

Reus was led by the butler with Natalia and went upstairs. There is also a long carpet on the stairs, and even if I slip my feet, it looks like I can roll down without getting hurt.

"Mmm? Ooh! Lord Reurus! Since the other day!

And when I went upstairs, such words flew in. Looking at it, you can see the Marquis of Sardari lined up with several nobles.

As Marquis Sardari approached with his right hand raised, he looked at the look of Reurus and fell apart.

"Hmm! You look great! You're tall and you're well trained, so whatever you wear suits you! As long as I envy you! But in your case, I don't think you looked the other day!

"Hahaha... thank you, Marquis Sardari"

It was the Marquis of Sardari, who complimented him on his outfit, but there were no unpleasant signs like the nobility he had ever seen. Simply rejoicing and praising you for meeting someone you know.

Because I could feel it, Reurus also stopped laughing back. I don't have a relationship that I can call close, but I feel like I've regained the feeling of being depressed.

You must be the Spirit Man. Don't listen to the rumors. "

"I heard today was a recital to the Baron. Congratulations."

"Whoa, this is Baron Amendora. It's been a long time. You're as beautiful as ever. Congratulations to the Baron on his late arrival."

The aristocrats who were with the Marquis of Sardari also walked in, each speaking out. For some reason there was a bitter smile, and some of them even pulled the arm of Marquis Sardari.

"Look, the Marquis shouldn't bother you too much."

"Yes, Marquis Sardari. He'll have a lot to prepare for, so please come back here soon."

I don't know about the throne, but the aristocrats who kindly call the Marquis opponent and urge him not to disturb the Reurus. The Marquis de Sardari raised his eyebrows and withdrew in a reluctant manner.

"Hmm... I'm getting in the way. That's not going to work."

"Yes. I'd love to talk to you about it with us, but can we do that after the Syrah is done?

"Hmm! That's true too! Well then, Lord Reurus, we'll be there for the Sylas' ritual, but we'll talk about it later!

Marquis Sardari walks out with his back to Reurus. The surrounding nobles followed, but some nobles waved gently to Reurus with a bitter smile and moved their mouths to say they were sorry.

"These are the nobles in northern Mataroi. As usual, or something...."

"These people are nobles too...."

Natalia whispers about who knows her face, and Reurus spits out vague words on it.

(I heard what you said, but I guess you can say that they admire you too....)

Because Marquis Sardari is the “center”, the attitude of the aristocrats in northern Mataroi was favourable to Reus.

― ― If there is a problem, is it that while talking to Marquis Sardari, the eyes of the surrounding people have increased?

(There's nobility on the first floor, but there's nobility on the second floor... huh? The atmosphere is "separate"?

There are many well-dressed people, but some are different in colour from the nobles I've seen before. Strongly speaking, there was an atmosphere close to Sofia, and from its standing behavior, there was no “smell” of those who put themselves in battle, yet it was impressive that they could not be alarmed.

"The court nobles."

Did you notice such a realuse's gaze? Natalia whispers so that she can't be heard around. The Reurus who heard it nodded convincingly, while being careful not to show his expression.

(I see... how many of my nominees were court nobles this time... they won't talk to me.)

I don't know the name or title, and I don't know if it's friendly or not. I don't know how to deal with the other person. For this reason, Reurus stopped at the ceremony and followed Natalia with the guide butler.

As he walked along, he arrived in the waiting room reserved for those who would be performing this recital.

"Someone will pick you up when you're ready for the Syrah's ritual. Follow me like I am now, and if you come to me while I'm watching, I'll poke you in the right knee and wait. Then His Majesty the King will come and give you the title of Baron Quasi, so if you give him a bow, that's it... that's easy, isn't it?

"If it's going to be that easy, it would have been nice if the envoy who came to the town of Speranza had a permit saying," You are a quasi-bar from today "...."

"Format is important. Especially for royalty and nobility...."

"Well, that's right...."

I wouldn't be grateful if I had finished the recital easily. As a realuse, that's fine, but I also understand that “these ceremonies” are important.

"You don't talk to me, do you?

"Basically not. But I answered because I was talking about a new territory... and it wasn't His Majesty the King I was talking about, it was a court nobleman."

(Sometimes a court nobleman, not a king... well, should I say no disrespect?

It was a revulsion to think like that, but there was a face I saw at the edge of my vision, so I turned to you.

"That's...."

There was Marquis Grimer and Louis slightly away from the waiting room door, but they were talking and they didn't notice Reurus. However, due to the uncomfortable atmosphere between the two, Reurus tilted his neck.

"Probably, but Marquis Grimer is complaining about this. Louis took his name as your nominee, but the Marquis de Grimer didn't speak to him."

Natalia laughs bitterly and tells her whether there is a part of them that she feels or whether she heard the conversation even at a distance.

"I'll arbitrate for now. You can stay in the waiting room. I should have a little more time, but I'll be there first when the guide arrives."

That's how Natalia turned her back. Reus drops it off and dives into the waiting room through the door opened by the guide butler.

(... hmm? Hasn't anyone come yet?)

There was no one in the waiting room and Reurus leaned his neck.

(I heard you're putting this together....)

Reurus heard that when Natalia became a baron, Louis went to the Count, and Collard became a Baroness, bringing together several counts and ascendants.

Some people become knights, so it shouldn't be strange to have people without saying a lot. That said, I don't see a single child, and Reurus wonders.

(I don't suppose I'll be alone this time... but I'll wait until someone picks me up.)

Reurus lowers his hips to the chair in the waiting room and exhales heavily. I think playfully whether it is because it is in the imperial castle or because it is the most comfortable to sit in the chair I have ever sat in, and I wonder if I can get one leg back.

There is not only a chair but also a table in the waiting room, but there is nothing else to see. If I'm thirsty, I'll get a butler or a maid to bring.

(In the meantime, it would be helpful if you didn't have to remember the troublesome wording... the Baroness... the Baroness... and then you have to decide your last name...)

Reus bothered his head when he needed to decide his family name in order to become a Baron. Not necessarily right away, but after being classified as a Baroness, they apply for a family name and family crest to see if they are wearing it with other aristocrats before being approved.

Natalia tells me that I need to be as careful as possible not to wear my family name with other houses and never to wear my family crest. However, since I don't think that there is any sense of naming or design as a reuse, it was more difficult than the current situation.

"Whoa, who is it?

If you're worried about your head, the door to the waiting room will be knocked. Reus, who interrupted his thoughts with the sound, turned his gaze, and the door opened and the old butler who had just guided Reus here showed up.

"Thank you for waiting, Reurus. I'm ready to guide you to Syrah's ritual."

"... is there anyone else to recite?

Asked with wonder, the old butler nodded with a strange face.

"I heard that only Reurus is the narrator today....."

(... you didn't say that either, but what do you mean?

In the meantime, while standing up from the chair, Reurus leaned his neck with a sense of discomfort.
