A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Chapter 95: Departure
The dwarf search journey can take up to two months, whether successful or not, so the Reurus and the others are well prepared before departure.
You can stop by a town or village on your journey to buy what you need, but some are “normal” towns or villages, not waste towns.
Reurus has been given a necklace by Zilba called the "Proof of the Guest", and if there is a spiritual church, we can ask for help.
Unlike adventurers' registration cards, Guest ID cards are officially recognized and may be useful when entering a town or village.
However, since Reurus is the only one with a Guest ID, Eliza and Sarah will enter town with a pass tax and a security deposit.
(But I don't know... you don't want to take Sarah into town.)
The presence of walrus has a far greater impact than the bloodsucking species Eliza. For good and evil, the Spirit of Fire certainly leads to various troubles if known.
That's why Reurus should be ready to stay out of town as long as possible.
Food, water, rain gear, and bedding during your trip. Lights don't matter because of Sarah, but food and water need to be arranged properly.
You can hunt and eat monsters on your journey, but there's a chance you won't find them. Reurus can feel the signs of a monster, so if he's nearby, he can chase him down.
However, acting with Eliza, the inferior monster escapes. You may go hunting monsters away from Eliza, but the purpose of Reurus is to find the dwarf and have him craft a weapon.
I want Eliza and Sarah's weapons, plus some armor, if possible. There was not enough time, so I wanted to avoid wasting time chasing after monsters.
(Well, if you eat all the monsters on the path... this is it.)
I've received information from Natalia about the dwarf, and it's been three days. It was a Reurus that was preparing in the meantime, but it took three days for a reason.
It was for a very simple reason that there was no backpack that could hold the luggage to take.
In this case, it's not just food or travel gear that you carry. The monster materials we got, the fragments of Dominic's Great Sword, and the money are huge stuff.
Breaking it down, the food is the daily grilled bread, dried meat, dried fruit, salt, and water.
Travel tools include a thin cloth coated with rain resistant grease as bedding, flint stones in case Sarah gets separated, and a few underwear changes due to long journeys.
And the material of the monster, the biggest luggage. This is not only Vanilla's nails and scales, but also the scales of the dragon wings and the skins of the cars-hikuidori.
Plus "Magic Stone", "Treasure Ball", and Fragments of a Broken Dominic's Great Sword. Three large gold coins for travel and weapons production. Large gold coins were exchanged for cash, but it is too spicy to carry a pile of small gold and silver coins.
It took me three days to craft these luggage that took a large backpack to carry them.
The bulk of the luggage needs to be carried by Reurus, as Gilba will not be able to accompany us this time. Eliza was able to use "Enhancement" to see if her previous training had borne fruit, and Sarah, the Spirit of Fire, could also use "Enhancement" without any problems.
But the two of us, far smaller than Reurus, can carry less. The amount of luggage is scheduled to be carried by Reurus at 70% and Eliza and Sarah at 30%.
I would also like to invite some of the Adventurers of the Abandoned City of Laval, but it is very limited to being able to follow the Reurus traveling with 'Enhancements'.
Senior adventurers like Nicolas and Sharon seem to be fine, but they also need the strength to defend the abandoned city of Laval in the absence of the Reurus. Something like a wagon doesn't exist in the abandoned city of Laval, and the Reurus have to carry their luggage on their own.
"Reurus, we're ready."
"Finally! This is exciting!
Eliza and Sarah called out to Reurus, who had finished packing a huge backpack. Both weave leather jackets and wear leather nails and toenails, but as an adventurer, it's a lightweight category.
There was a fairly large backpack on his back, but it was only about a quarter the size of what Reurus was carrying.
"I'm ready, too...!
Put your arms through the shoulder straps of the backpack and lift it with a sense of vigour. The backpack was heavy, but it was heavy enough to be able to travel on the run without the use of "calorie release".
The Great Sword that Jilba carved with the "Magic Letter" of "Enhancement" cannot bear. Therefore, I put it on my waist with a bespoke belt so that it could come off immediately.
The Reus would be nearly a hundred kilometers if combined with leather armor, leather nails and toenails, a huge backpack with a large sword, and all its weight. Still, the magic flowing from Eliza's "contract" raises her physical abilities like "strengthening," so she won't be crushed.
(If you use "calorie release" when something happens... your shoulders look stiff.)
Reurus walks out of the house with Eliza and Sarah, grinning relentlessly at the straps that feed on her shoulders. Then close the key as a precaution and head to Dominic's restaurant.
Natalia tells me to stop by before we leave.
"... this is a great luggage again."
As he took his feet to Dominic's restaurant, Dominic groaned at the look of Reurus.
"I'm not sure I can stand up if I fall behind you... you're not just here, are you, Jilba?
If it flips over, it will look like a turtle. It was a laughing reel, but I was a little surprised because there was not only Natalia but also Gilba in the restaurant.
"Good morning, Mr. Reurus. I'm here to see you off today."
"Thank you... what is that?
Gilba gave me three envelopes while saying she was here to see you off. On the surface of the envelope is a picture of a poor woman who thinks she mimics the Great Spirit, and Reurus twists her neck while receiving it.
"I apologize for taking you on a ride with Mr. Reurus, but I would like you to deliver it to the churches of Tyrier and Accra, if possible."
"Do you have three copies?
"One letter of introduction in my name. When you cross the street, if soldiers can stop you, show them along with the Guest ID. Somewhat accommodating."
Apparently, it's Jilba's farewell. Reurus lowers his head when he misses the envelope.
"Thank you. By the way, can I ask you about the referral?
"It would be okay just to carry the 'Guest ID', but when I guarantee the identity of the Reurus in my name only to the things I carry... and I wrote that I carry the 'Spiritual' offering dedicated to the Spirit at the Churches of Tyrier and Accra."
In other words, it seems that Spiritualism is not silent if we put our hands on the luggage carried by the Reurus.
"... is it okay to write that down?
"Mr. Reurus is a Spiritual Guest, and his luggage is a weapon for Mr. Reurus and others. If Reurus and the others get the weapons, we can keep Sarah safe... see, it's a gift to the Spirit, right?
Isn't that a trick? While thinking so, Reurus thanked me honestly because thankfully it didn't change.
"I really appreciate it... what can I do for you?
Looks like you've been distracted by Zilba. Reurus turned to Natalia because she was told to protect Sarah if she turned around.
"Always."
That's what Natalia took out was the adventurer's registration. The Reurus who saw it scratched his cheeks with a bitter smile.
"Maybe another promotion?
"Yes, I can't keep the adventurers who fought the Fire Dragon one-on-one at a low level. This is also a good opportunity... if you're a middle-ranking soldier, you'll have to accept it."
It hasn't been six months since Laval Waste City, but he's been recognized as an intermediate adventurer. I think it's really a good Reurus, but Natalia's trying to lower her registration card on her neck, so she lowers her head.
"I've also made a request to rescue the abandoned city of Madalo, and the boy is contributing to this town... from today on, he's a junior adventurer. Congratulations."
"Thank you... is that okay? Where's Eliza and Sarah?
It is a doctrine that what you get is what you get except for illness. I appreciate receiving it, but I leaned my neck to see what happened to Eliza and Sarah.
"Eliza's daughter is going to be in the middle. Sarah's daughter... remains an apprentice."
"Why!? Against Discrimination!"
"Eliza's daughter is promoted because she can now use Reinforcement. Sarah's daughter...."
So Natalia turned her eyes to Gilba. Zilba lowered her head with her right hand on her chest.
"Sometimes it's better to stay an apprentice... that's what I mean."
I couldn't understand it even as a Reurus, but it turns out that Gilba said something.
I wondered, but Reurus decided it would be better not to touch it.
Mr. Reurus
When the story stops like that, Corona shows herself. He had a cloth wrap in his hand and smiled.
"It's a lunch box. Please eat with Elizabeth and the others later."
"That was the case before, but thank you, Corona. Thank you for the food."
Corona's cuisine is delicious, so as a realuse, it's just as thankful as it sounds. The expression of Corona changed slightly when she received the cloth wrap while exposing her joy.
Even though I was smiling, there was a slight blend of loneliness.
"Mr. Reurus is an adventurer, so I can't stop him, but please come home without getting hurt. I promise...
"Ahh... I promise."
--Now it's time to buy souvenirs.
Reurus took out the key to the house he had in his pocket with determination.
"Will you keep the keys to the house, as promised? I'll get it first when I get back."
"... um, is that okay? That house is important to Mr. Reurus, isn't it?
Corona wonders if it's okay to receive the key Reus gave her. Reurus nodded loudly and took Corona's hand to hold the key.
"If Corona keeps it, I can travel with peace of mind. I'm not mad at you even if you lose it, and I hope you can keep it."
In the worst case scenario, you just have to smash the door. That's how Reurus laughs, and Corona smiles with a key.
"I'm waiting for you to come back. Welcome."
I'm coming.
That was the journey's greeting - Reurus, who saw Corona's smile, deepened his smile that the journey seemed fortunate.
And the idea that fortune seems good is overshadowed.
"Don't move! If you show me a strange move, I'll kill you!
After travelling from the abandoned city of Laval and being surrounded by over twenty bandits in less than a day, Reus sighed unexpectedly.
