A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 123: "Castle Collapse" Part 3
On that day, Reus went to the Lost Forest in the morning.
The purpose is not so great. Even in the dwarf settlements, they only do as much agricultural work as they do, so I only thought about investigating the streets and hunting monsters with them.
Dwarf's Great Sword - Carries a slightly smaller sword than the one I've been using before, and instead of Eliza or Sarah, she runs through the Lost Forest with Meer.
Half the other dwarves are blacksmiths, and the remaining half are ready to move. Meer was careful not to let Reurus get lost in the Lost Forest and followed me.
"Almost there! I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of sword I can make!
"Ahh... I hope you can do it by today."
While running, Meer talks with a smile, but the topic is the big sword Calvin makes.
With the powerful “firepower” of Sarah, you can now use Fire Dragon materials to craft the Great Sword. Calvin doesn't drink, doesn't eat, and waves his arm with insomnia.
It was already the fifth day since I started hitting the big sword, but in Meer's view, it was time to take shape.
Reurus also peered into the forgery unhindered, but he couldn't even speak up because of the high heat from the furnace and Calvin and Dwarf's serious expression.
Among them was Eliza, but she couldn't speak to us as she stared at the landscape where the dwarf was producing magic equipment made by a few people.
"I'd like to polish my blacksmith's arm as soon as possible... but my father won't forgive me inside."
"Hmm? Then why?
"I don't have much talent for blacksmithing. I was told that it was better to make magic tools. If you want to brush your arms, you can do it."
Meer swells her cheeks with dissatisfaction, but Calvin is right to have a good smithing technique.
Of course, even if you don't have the talent of a blacksmith, it is likely to be said by Dwarf standards, and it is a realuse that feels like you can make a superior weapon compared to a human blacksmith.
"I don't know where it is at all... so why don't you just do what Meer wants?
"Yeah... that's why I'm dating Reurus like this.
That said, I send a meaningful look at Meer. Reurus took that look and smiled unexpectedly.
"I love things... even with Meer, you don't have to get lost in the woods, and I'll be helpful."
Reurus can't tell us apart, but Meer can make it through the Lost Forest without difficulty. If Reurus were alone, he would have to mark the trunk of the tree one by one or the remains of the monster.
"Reurus, if you get lost, it's important...? Stop!"
For now, let's go through the Lost Forest and see if there are any soldiers on the streets. It was a realus that was running with that aim in mind, but when I heard Meer's voice to stop it, I stopped immediately.
"What's wrong?
"Wait a minute....."
That said, Meer puts her knee to the ground and ears. Meanwhile, Reus pulled out the big sword on his back and turned to his surroundings, imitating Meer as he held it on his shoulder.
"Nh... nh? This noise... it's really my fault... isn't it?
"What's wrong?
For now, there is nothing to catch on to Reurus. Looking around, there was no monster rather than a soldier, and the Lost Forest looked peaceful.
(... no, wait. I don't feel like there's anything...)
Even though it is a "lost forest", it is a normal forest in which small animals other than monsters inhabit just because humans get lost. That being said, I can't hear a single bird's voice, and the slightest wind just makes the trees groan.
"Is something approaching? The sound is getting louder and vibrating....."
Hearing the words of Meer, who had ears on the ground, Reurus put ears on the ground to mimic them. However, I don't feel any noise or vibration like Meer says.
"I don't know... Dwarves are amazing."
"Really? Reurus, if you live on the ground, you'll see.
It would be possible to stay only temporarily, but it seems that it is always hard to live in the ground. Though I thought so, Reurus does not speak, but leaves his ears off the ground and becomes a natural body.
"Do you know which direction the sound comes from?
If the opponent is moving on the ground, we should be able to get a little closer to Reurus. If you're moving underground like a giant worm, you should be able to feel the magic, even though the earth and stones get in the way and dull.
"I don't know... but I think it's still a long way off."
"I hope it's a colibo... but Sarah isn't here right now."
Though I thought a giant worm would be a good duck, it would be hard to defeat because I didn't bring Sarah with me. No matter how much you owe a Dwarf sword, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to rip the flexible and sturdy skin of a giant worm.
(Do you want to borrow Meer's jar at that time...)
Meer is also armed because there may be danger. They have no armor, but they carry huge metal barrels of equal length as a weapon.
If it is difficult to defeat with slashing, you can defeat it with blows. Reurus laughs alone, saying that beating him from the outside will make the meat loose and easier to eat.
"... hmm?
However, I felt the magic passing over the ground and my smile broke down. I could feel the magic even when it was a giant worm, but this time it wasn't.
I felt the magic “clearly” even though the earth and stones were blocking the sense of magic.
(I don't think that bear came out...)
For a moment, I wondered if an intermediate monster on the ground had caught my eye. However, it was not on the ground, but underground, that Reurus felt the magic.
The magic grew rapidly.
"Ugh! Babe!
"Wow!?
Reurus picked Meer up and ran away from the scene. Then, within a few seconds, there was a crack in the place where the Reuses were, and something jumped out of the ground.
"It really bothers me to move around the ground, hey... but now there's three of them... eyes...?
I thought the third giant worm appeared, but I looked up at the monster and raised my eyebrows.
--Much bigger than the giant worm we fought the other day.
The thickness of the torso is more than ten meters by sight. It seems that even though the body itself is very long, the body is nearly 30 meters above the ground, but not even half of it is out.
"Castle... scrap..."
Meer, who was being held up by Reurus, groaned. Reus, who heard the murmur, received the magnitude of the magic clearly conveyed by the appearance on the surface, and held the great sword firmly without knowing it.
(He really came out... and what? The surface of your body is ragged and scratched everywhere...?
The magnitude of the magic is the same, but unlike the giant worm, the Reurus is a sturdy object that seems to cover the surface of the body. I don't know if it's a rock or an iron or copper ore, but there are a lot of objects with different sizes, colors, and shapes.
Overall, it was close to earth, but there was a mixture of grey, black, and dull metallic gloss.
And even more eye-catching were the wounds on my body over here. It is impossible to tell what kind of weapon was used just by looking at the wound, but whether it was cut with a blade or not can also be distinguished by the revus.
What the hell happened to Castle Collapse was a lot of cuts.
"Shit...."
But now it's not the time to think about the cause of the injury. As I lowered Meer to the ground, I stood up with a great sword and stared straight at "Castle Collapse".
"Meer's back in the settlement... oh shit, I can't stop him if he's lurking! You know what? Never leave me!?
"Uh-huh!
Meer alone is a Reurus who wanted to return to the settlement, but "Castle Collapse" can dive into the ground. If you ignore the Reurus and are headed to the dwarf colony, there's nothing you can do to stop it.
Though the blacksmiths and the preparations for the move have taken hold, the dwarves are not holding up all the guards. If Reurus had stopped here, he would have noticed in a short time.
(The best thing I can do is take him down... is he tough?
Neither the magic nor the intimidation that can be felt can reach Vaniel, the Fire Dragon. But can you reach the top of the middle-ranking monsters - or even beyond that - and reach the top ranks?
"Ooooooooooooo!"
Therefore, Reurus stands up to it from the very beginning. Perform "Calorific Release" and knock in with all your strength at the beginning.
While listening to the sound of the gear meshing with Gakin in his brain, he even left the sound behind and stepped into the "castle collapse".
A monster comparable to an advanced one might have a high level of intelligence. Maybe we can leave in a conversation.
However, the "Castle Collapse" in front of me is a complete enemy. I don't feel the intelligence of a vanilla, and the eyes that stare at the Reurus are pure killers.
Return killing with killing intent. Reus, who jumped into the pocket of the "castle collapse" instantly, stepped in with the momentum of depressing the ground and shook the dagger he held with both hands straight to the side.
The "Castle Collapse" is fat. Even the big sword held by Reurus is not enough to cut through, so it won't be enough. Still, ripping it apart with a big sword over a meter would do a lot of damage.
"Gu!?
--But it's hard.
The big sword swinging by Reus stops when the "castle collapse" is wrapped in the outer skin - slashing and tearing objects like ore, scattering sparks and burying half of the sword.
In addition to flexible and sturdy skin like giant worms, they wear “protective equipment” such as rocks and minerals. Even the slashing of Reurus using "Caloric Release" only inflicted minor wounds.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
You felt the Great Sword devouring you to the middle of the day, and the Castle Collapsed. Feeling the chills in the motion, Reurus kicked the ground reflectively and “rolled” in the air to coincide with the "castle collapse" motion, spinning several times sideways.
He tried to crush and fold the big sword that he had devoured with his sturdy skin and adhesive ore. The Reus did not break due to its aggressive rotation in the air, but the grip conveys a razor and unpleasant feeling.
"Nhhhhhhhhhh!
Suddenly, he roared at the "castle collapse" where he tried to destroy the weapon, and Reus saw the part of his body that didn't have any ore on it and kicked it in. And when I pulled out the big sword with a kick recoil, I kicked it again and turned back a lot.
Reurus rearranges his sword when he lands while raising the smoke. The blade wasn't broken - it was a Dwarf sword - but the sword seemed a little bent.
"Yaaaaaaaaaaa!
Meea shook her legs to buy time for Reurus to regain her posture. And although I beat the torso of "Castle Collapse" with all my strength, I could not give it pain or itching just because the rock wrapped around me broke apart.
"Stiff and soft!? It's disgusting!
It was Meer who beat her with a knife twice or three times, but at the same time, she felt the soft response and screamed unexpectedly. Perhaps the impact is mitigated by the crushing of rocks, on top of which the flexible skin completely kills the impact.
(That worm was vulnerable to fire... but that's not how it looks.)
The giant worm had mucus all over it, but it could be evaporated by Sarah's flame magic.
Even if the mucus disappeared, it could be slashed with a revus, but in the case of a "castle collapse", rocks and ores were wrapped up instead of mucus. The soil adhered even in the empty part, and it seemed difficult to burn to death with flame magic.
(Does that mucus catch up like glue over time? Either way, it's troublesome.....)
The defense is the same, but above all, the giant is troublesome. The slashing of Reurus doesn't get deep, and I don't know if it works in the first place with Meer's blows.
For some reason, if I tried to target the cut I would be able to cut it deeply, but because the Castle Collapse was always turning around, I couldn't target it with Reurus' skill.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Instead of being alone, a small house opens its mouth so huge that it seems like it can be swallowed. "Castle Collapse" storms in. The movement was as agile as a lie, but at the same time it was accompanied by a sense of weight enough to shake the ground.
"Meer!? Down!?"
Reuses using "Calorie Unlocked" can avoid a raid at their leisure, but I wonder if Meer who fights with his physical abilities and "Reinforcement" alone is critical to avoiding it.
Reurus tried to take Meer and leave, but he felt the magic coming from “directly below.”
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
The body of the "castle collapse", which was taking the position of an assault, was greatly diverted back. The ground on which Reurus and Meer stood exploded sooner than they questioned its operation.
"Whoa, whoa!?
An incredible shock. I forgot what happened for a few moments, but I realized that the “lower body” of the "Castle Collapse" that came out of the ground jumped up from the ground.
"Wow!?
The same was true of Meer, who suddenly jumped up and shocked.
How much momentum was jumped up is higher than the tree that was growing in the Lost Forest - blown to a height of tens of meters.
From such a high point of view, Reurus looked aggressively. What was there was the appearance of the "castle collapse" with the “whole body” exposed.
I don't know the exact length because I wrap it around occasionally, but the length from head to tail will slightly exceed 100 meters. It may reach 200 meters.
And that giant body trembles. Reurus wonders what it does.
"... what?
A giant "Castle Collapse" jumped along with a heavy roar, dancing in space after the Reurus and the others.
