A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 146: Moving Part 2
Preparations for a new dwarf settlement are well under way.
Building materials are not necessary to build a settlement. Dwarves have the habit of digging holes in the basement to build houses, and if they need timber, they can collect it locally.
For this reason, food accounts for the majority of what is taken from the abandoned city of Laval. They also carry seeds of wheat and vegetables sown in the fields in anticipation of the future, and seed potatoes grown in dwarf settlements, but in small quantities compared to food.
We also need blacksmith tools, but this is minimal. At first, emphasis was placed on building the foundations of life, and I planned to come to the abandoned city of Laval if I needed to.
Luggage is stowed on Dwarf's handmade wooden backpack, and each one is ready to carry it. He also accompanied Calvin and others who were supposed to remain in the abandoned city of Laval to build the settlement, and he planned to take command of the team for the time being.
The Reurus team will accompany you only to the location you are heading for. Instead, nothing would have started without Reurus and the others.
Reurus wears dwarf armor and holds a large sword to check for defects. However, the armor set created to suit Reurus's body does not interfere with the movement of the body, and the weight of the great sword carried is now so pleasant.
Since it is a journey with the dwarves, the departure is at night. Seeing the sun set and Laval's watch diminished, Reurus turned to Eliza, who was as ready as he was.
"All right, call it in."
Ichiba
"Nhhh!
"Sa-san... Mr. Reurus, does this mean anything?
I'm in the mood.
He smiled back at Meer, strangely tilting his neck, and Reus diverted his attention.
From now on, they gathered at the gates of the abandoned city of Laval, where they saw Corona, Nicolas, Sharon and Bartolo drop off.
Dominic is absent because of the restaurant, but was told to come back safely.
"It's a lunch box. I have some for Eliza and the others, so please eat later."
"Oh, thank you all the time. Corona's lunch is delicious and I'm looking forward to it."
As usual, they have prepared lunch this time. Reurus smiles and receives a lunch box, which he stacks on his back. Corona's lunch is one of the journey's favorites for Reurus.
"I'm sure you'll be fine, but don't be rude.
"I'd love to go too... but I'll take care of the town."
Nicolas and Sharon came all the way to drop me off, but Nicolas smiled and handed me a water bag made of the monster's guts. When Reurus leaned his neck, Nicolas slapped the water bag.
"I didn't think it was a good idea to have more luggage... but I packed up the liquor, so I thought I'd celebrate when Calvin's settlement was finished."
"Thank you, senpai. Thank you for the drink."
Apparently, they have prepared a “move party.” Reurus stowed a toast on his back, and now he turned to Bartolo.
"I'm sorry the union president took the trouble to see you off."
"I'm sure this case will be of great benefit to this town... and give this letter to the other union president when you get to the abandoned city of Madalo."
That's why I handed you two letters sealed with beeswax. Though I wondered what the Reus was, I received it and decided that it was important and I didn't think it was a backpack, but I felt it in my pocket.
"One of them is like a letter of recommendation from Calvin and the Dwarves... It says that it helps to defend the town, and that various techniques, such as blacksmith, are excellent. It will be a little convincing. And the other one is a letter of information exchange between the towns."
"Copy that. I'll get it to you."
I thought I was going to ask you to transport the letter along with the drop-off. Reurus glances back at Corona when he agrees.
Corona wandered her gaze in agitation, and Reurus slightly reddened her cheeks as she tilted her neck.
"Mr. Reurus... um..."
The right hand of the corona is slightly lifted and immediately lowered. Looking at it, only the pinky finger stood, and Reurus pointed out his right hand as he deepened his smile.
And when she raised her pinky finger, Corona sparkled her expression.
"It's okay, I'll come back alive. Promise.
"- Ha!
Leurus and the others left the abandoned city of Laval after being escorted by the bouncing smile of the truncated corona.
I have the luggage, but the journey is on track.
Walking in the streets is likely to find soldiers, so they move through the woods, but the dwarves will move through the woods, but they won't suffer at all. Rather, I was walking well.
Without being attacked by bad weather on the way, it takes five days to leave Laval Waste City and arrive at Madalo Waste City.
It only took a few days compared to last time, but it would be helpless because everyone was carrying their luggage.
As a delegate, I will take Calvin to the gates of the abandoned city of Madalo, as it is not a good idea to bring all the dwarves. Meer is also a dwarf, but since she is part of the Reurus family, she has followed from the beginning without confirmation.
You still need to be alert to monsters. As you approach Madaro Waste City, the wooden fence increases. However, it has not been destroyed as before, but only for the monster's attack.
The luggage I carried so far was deposited with dwarves lurking in a nearby forest. As a result, he wears only weapons and protective equipment and approaches Madalo Waste City with a casual step.
"Stop!"
As we approach the abandoned city of Madalo, the adventurers who were watching the gates rush in. Each one is armed, but the same goes for Laval Waste.
But that vigilance won't last long. The adventurers of the abandoned city of Madalo rush up to the reals, and look at their faces and shout with surprise.
"Hmm!? Hey, Reurus!?
Long time no see Monster eater !
The vigilance of the past leaves the weapon as if it were a lie, and walks in a gentle manner. I visited the abandoned city of Madalo nearly three months ago, but they remembered.
"But what happened all of a sudden? No, I don't mind if you come any time... but you haven't sent a rescue request, have you?
"Just a little personal stuff. Is there a union president?
He shakes hands laughing at each other and cuts things out while knocking each other out without meaning. The adventurers then turned their faces behind Reurus - to Meer and Calvin, who were not there before.
"I think we'll meet at the union... but Eliza and the lost girl, anyway, who are you two?
"... is that my new companion?
I think it would be better to reveal it to the dwarf here, and Reurus introduces it ambiguously. The adventurers looked strange, but they passed through the gate to see if there was a problem with Reurus coming with them.
The abandoned city of Madalo, which I had visited for the first time in a long time, seemed more calm than before. As before, many intermediate monsters have never attacked, and the faces of other residents are bright.
"I'm glad I'm at peace...."
"Ah... I was worthy of being rude."
The monster's abnormality appeared to have settled down, but when I visited again, I was relieved that the previous “disturbance” had ended properly.
"... hmm? Hmm!? Hey, hey! Reurus!? Reurus!?
As he walked through the abandoned city of Madalo, the man who walked from the direction of the Adventurers' Union shouted. The man looks familiar with Reurus and raises his hand casually.
Dario! Long time no see!
Man - When he laughs at Dario, Dario rushes in with a footsteps.
The first time I looked at him, he was about to cause a “catastrophe”, but he was already running into the water. So when Reurus laughed and called out, Dario also smiled.
"Oh, it's been a while! What happened all of a sudden?
"I stopped by on business. I was about to go to the union...."
Ok, ok! Then let's go together!
I thought the adventurer's work was good, but it was kind of generous. Reurus dives through the Adventurers' Union doors as he asks Dario about the recent abandonment of Madalo.
"Werner's brother! Reurus is here!
"Noisy Dario... Reurus?
Then, for some reason, Werner, the wizard of the abandoned city of Madalo, sat at the reception. Looking at Reurus and the others, he rounded his eyes, but immediately he was delighted.
"Long time no see, Reurus. And Eliza... Sarah, what about you two?
Werner leaned his neck strangely, but he could not ignore it as a revulsion.
"I brought you here because I had some business to attend to... why are you sitting at the reception? You're an adventurer, right?
In Laval Waste City, for example, there is a strong discomfort like Nicolas sitting in a place where Natalia usually sits. Werner smiles bitterly when Reurus asks for it without flushing it.
"You were acting for the union president in the last commotion, right? And now they're asking me if I'm going to be president of the union... and now I'm accepting you as a stake in becoming president."
"Heh...."
Welner was acting on behalf of the union president when Madalo Waste City was attacked by a group of intermediate monsters. Apparently, the movement at that time was appreciated.
Does that mean that the receptionist is going to be president of the union? Or is it just a reception... no matter what you think, it's not just a reception)
Reurus that only slightly distracts you from thinking. But now we need to clear up the business in front of us.
"In the meantime, where's the union president... Roberto?
While saying so, Reurus retrieves two letters from his pocket. Welner glanced slightly at the letter, but immediately returned to his soft expression and turned to his back.
"I'm in the back room. Take care of it... no, Reurus, I don't mind. Go directly to your room."
"What? Are you sure?
Isn't that nice for security reasons? Reurus thought so, but Werner laughed brightly.
"Aren't you the benefactors of this town? Even the union president won't be angry if he's happy."
Following Werner's words, the Reurus went deeper into the union.
After handing a letter from Bartolo to the union president and telling the story, Reurus and the others were leaving the abandoned city of Madalo.
The union president, Roberto, decided to accept the dwarf so quickly that Reurus would clap and confirm it many times.
Apparently, the previous disturbances prompted the decision to leave the front, albeit temporarily, for most of the town's main forces. Although it has already been resolved, it cannot be said that it has never happened once.
For this reason, Dwarves with instant combat power and various technologies wanted to be able to get their hands out of their throats, so much so that Bartolo accepted five - ten - at the same time as he had anticipated.
It seems that the decision to accept Laval Waste City, the proximity to the Veos volcano and the presence of powerful monsters, as well as the fact that Reurus was brought in, were decisive.
I decided to accept it because the benefactor who saved the abandoned city of Madalo brought it.
"I don't know... you guys are amazing."
As Calvin was impressed, Reurus is having trouble responding.
Though I'm happy to be trusted, it's just a little excessive. I thought it would be a little more difficult to negotiate, but I got caught in the crosshairs.
"Hmm! You're my contractor, anyway! That's amazing! I don't know what's amazing, but it's amazing anyway!
Listening to Calvin's words, Sarah's chest tightened with a tall nose. But Eliza picked Sarah's cheek and pulled it left and right.
"You're also my contractor, right?
"Heh heh! Heh heh heh! Hyahhhhhhh!"
Sarah's cheeks stretched like mochi. It was a remark that Eliza couldn't have seen.
"Even so, it's going to be tough...."
I'm not denying Calvin's words, but as a Reurus, it's time.
I didn't think it would be that difficult to navigate the abandoned city of Madalo. With that in mind, Vanille, the lord of the Veos volcano, is the biggest difficulty ahead of Reurus.
We've already stepped into the woods, but we need to walk a little further to Vanier's “territory."
I feared that I might be attacked by an intermediate monster, but it was too reckless to attack a group of nearly fifty dwarves, and sometimes I just felt a strong magic and never came close.
(Should we go to Vaniel alone... or should we take Calvin and the others from the beginning...)
There are many things I think, but Vaniel will not attack without asking. The question is whether we can get permission to build dwarf settlements within or near Vanier territory.
"... hmm?
In the meantime, I was heading for the Veos volcano, but I felt a powerful magic in the distance. Reurus stopped his feet unexpectedly, but his magic is rapidly approaching.
"Ugh!? This stupid big heat source....."
Apparently Sarah felt it too. Reurus looked in the direction where he felt the magic, and he saw a red giant between the trees. It was originally the size of a bean grain, but it gradually increased in size.
It's been a long time, Spirit of Fire and his contractor!
I don't know how we got close, but the Dragon of Fire vanilla showed up.
