A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 153: Urgent Request Part 2
"Lake Mersena?
Wherever it is, Reurus is confused.
Even though it is said to be the northernmost point of Mataroy, there is only as much geographic information in Reurus' head as it has ever been.
All I knew was the name of Elizabeth's birthplace, and the name of the neighbor that Zilba, a spiritual person I knew, told me about.
"... hmm? If I remember correctly, I think this town was quite south of Mataroi....."
"Yes, the abandoned city of Laval is the southernmost of Mataroi... but it's close to it."
The city of Laval, where Reurus lives, belongs to a country called Mataroi. And Mataroi is a country in the continent called Caldeva, one or two of the continents of Caldeva.
Naturally, the country is large. I don't think surveying technology is as advanced as it was in previous generations. In this world, the area of detail is unknown, but it is large enough to be called a great power. How many days does it take to walk from end to end?
Unlike in previous life, there are no means of transportation such as cars, trains, or airplanes, so it is basically a walking journey. However, it is not uncommon to be attacked by monsters and bandits while walking the streets.
It would take a considerable number of days to travel from the south to the northernmost end of Mataroi under such circumstances. What do you want me to do when I go to such a place in the first place? If the distance is so far away, it is unlikely to have a direct impact on this disturbance.
"For the record, the water in this place called Lake Mersena is running low, so it's not affecting us, is it?
"I don't think so. Geographically, Lake Mersena is rather" downstream ”. Lake Mersena is running low with less water around the abandoned city of Laval… I think that's possible."
I'll take a look, but it still doesn't seem to have anything to do with this disturbance. If so, why should I go to such a place?
"Boys... no, this is a bad story. Reurus, there are two things I want you to do."
Pickle and Reurus' eyebrows moved. It's not uncommon to be called by name rather than "boy."
"One is to find a 'jewel' of water around Lake Mersena. Sure enough, there are no helpers around Lake Mersena, but there must have been a few towns... so I'll give you some money to buy them if you find them."
"What about the other one?
"Either way, I'm counting on you... to find someone who can use water magic or ice magic if you can't. If it's settled with money, it's in the form of hiring, and I'll leave the decision to you."
Find the water's "jewels" or water magic or ice magic players.
Having heard that, I was able to understand what Natalia had in mind and asked Reurus to do.
"I wonder if Calvin and the others can do something with the water's 'jewels'...."
"Yes, he said he wasn't very good at making magic tools, but I think he could use some water 'jewelry' to make water."
Until then, Natalia had a serious look on her face, but she finally broke her face when she came here. With a glossy smile, I started to spin the smoke tube I had in my hand.
"As for me, the latter... someone who can use water magic or ice magic would be more helpful. Judging by your“ track record ”so far, it looks like it's going to catch up well... yes, as rational as Calvin and the others, I don't mind monsters.
"I'd like to ask you how you're looking at me, but I can't say anything because there's a verse that comes to mind...."
"Fufufufu... that's why I'm asking you to weigh yourself, because you're going to have to bring me 50 people."
Natalia laughs deeper and calls attention, but she can't laugh at anything as a revulsion.
When I met Eliza, a bloodsucking species, and went out to request rescue from the abandoned city of Madalo, I was possessed by Sarah, the Spirit of Fire, and fought one-on-one with Vanier, the Fire Dragon, and brought home a group of nearly fifty dwarves, as Natalia had noted.
Regardless of what he was doing, Reus wanted to hold his head, but if he included even a hostile opponent, he would begin to encounter Kimira. He was attacked by a group of nearly twenty bandits and attacked by an advanced equivalent monster called "Castle Collapse."
"I have a lot to say to you... I really have a lot to say to you, but are you okay if I leave? I don't know how far it is to Lake Mersena, but in the meantime, the water..."
Eliza, who was listening, questioned.
The threat of monsters has diminished since the Reurus settled in Laval Waste City, but the immediate problem is securing water.
Even if you go to a nearby river to fetch water, as you did the other day, you have the strength of a guard.
In that regard, Eliza would have avoided the inferior monsters of her own accord, but more than Natalia said about Reurus “the others”, Eliza would have been included in the journey.
"It would also be the job of the recessed children behind, and if Eliza's daughter accompanied them, the junior monsters wouldn't come, would they? Because of the water problem, the priority has dropped, but I'd like to make sure I can get some food."
"Mmm... I don't like eagles, so I don't have that kind of shape..."
Eliza would make it safer to pump water, but the monsters wouldn't come near, so we wouldn't get any food. However, given the recent reduction in the threat of monsters, it would be better to feed the weaker monsters by turning them into ducks.
The ravages stand out, but there are plenty of other adventurers in the abandoned city of Laval. It is not the intention of Reurus to take away their jobs, or their jobs. It would be the same for Eliza.
"There are Calvin's grandmothers too... if we combine our efforts with Senpai Nicolas, we'll be fine with intermediate monsters..."
"I see. That's why I can turn you around on this request. I was worried about what happened when I brought Calvin and the others in, but now that I think about it, their power is going to help a lot."
Alarmy is forbidden, but with the adventurers of the abandoned city of Laval and the intermediate monsters of Calvin, peace in the town seems to be preserved. There seems to be no shortage of escorts for pumping water and securing “meat”.
"... then I'll leave Sarah. In the worst case scenario, if Senpai Sharon uses ice magic to make ice and dissolve it in Sarah...."
"Hey!? Eliza is terrible! I'm against it!? I'm coming with you! I'll follow you even if you leave me!?
"I'm sorry, I'm kidding. If I could just light a fire, I could ask Calvin to build me a magical instrument."
It was Sarah who rushed to Reurus' waist, but Eliza smiled lightly and shook her shoulders.
I have done it once in the past to have Sharon make ice and let Sarah melt, but even if it burns, Sarah doesn't have to do it all the way. Eliza is right, Calvin is going to be able to make magic tools as easily as that.
"Well, that makes me feel like I have nothing to do..."
Although Meer who was listening raised her hand to fear, Reurus now denies it.
"In the worst case scenario, you might want Meer to dig up a water 'jewel'... so that's what you're talking about, isn't it, Seo-san?
"That's right. Like many monsters around Mount Veos dealing with flame magic, many around Lake Mersena use water magic and ice magic. The 'treasure balls' that are produced are also influenced by the land."
Each Reurus has a role to play. It is likely to attract some kind of result if each person demonstrates his/her own abilities.
"But only if you really can't help it. It's embarrassing to be discovered because it's a theft."
"I will. I would know the quality of the 'jewels' I buy if I had a mea."
It was easy, but I also understood the contents of the request. Reurus repudiates the contents of the request in the brain and mouth the part that could be problematic.
"I know what I'm going to do... but isn't Lake Mersena far? Even if we hurry, do we have water?
"I can do it.”
Natalia speaks in a firm tone. Reus is convinced that if she says so, she will be able to do something about it, but there are other problems.
"We can all use Enhancements, and we have Eliza's Monster Avoidance on the way, but how many days does it take to get to Lake Mersena?
To be precise, Reus can't use Reinforcement, but he's always in a similar situation due to Eliza and Sarah's "contract."
If everyone were to travel with Enhancements, they would be able to earn quite a day's travel distance.
"I see... if you don't use the streets to get lost, and the boys move around with all their might during the day to avoid encountering monsters and bandits... would you say two to three weeks if you were" normal "?
"Are there any unusual means of transportation?
Reurus asked because there was a part of Natalia's words that caught her, and Natalia somehow deepened her smile. It's a smile that you just didn't realize.
"Yes, far east of the abandoned city of Laval... further east than the abandoned city of Madalo and the volcano of Veos, there is a river called the River Leté. It's a big river that flows pretty fast, but it leads to Lake Mersena."
"... a ship?"
Then we might get to Lake Mersena sooner than running on land without getting lost - but that seems to be the problem.
"You're not a fishing boat, are you? Can an adventurer ride in the first place?
Reurus originally lived as a serf in a village called Shena, and the situation was very bad. Compared to those days, the days spent as adventurers in the abandoned city of Laval are the best, but the adventurers are also in a very bad position in the world.
There was also a possibility that even if I paid, I would not be able to get a ride.
"Fufu... I'm glad the boy's been able to think a lot. But it's okay, I'm calling for help... oh, I think I just got here."
When Natalia said so, she heard the door of the Adventurers Association open. At the same time, a groaning voice leaked from the surrounding adventurers, and Reurus, who had received those voices in his back, stared at Natalia without looking back.
I think something similar has happened to me before.
Oh, well, that's tough.
"Oh, my God. After all, I ended up beating up some red lizard."
While saying so, Reurus focused on his gaze.
"Thank you very much. Yeah, I'm sure I can count on you. I think he's a comfortable helper to me."
I couldn't hear the footsteps, but Reurus felt the magic approaching.
There is only one Reurus who has magic in the abandoned city of Laval and can walk on the slated floor without making any noise.
"Isn't it? This time it affected the children of the church, so they took on the pleasure."
That's how Reurus looked back, and there was a man standing there.
It will be over forty by the time of the year. It is a man nearly ten centimetres tall, even compared to the Reurus, who is more than 170 centimetres tall recently.
My hair is pure white for my age, making me feel the weight of life I've been walking through. The soft smile that sticks to the face reassures the viewer, but it is Reurus' mistake to feel a slight madness there.
The long body is thoroughly trained, or black clothing similar to the monk clothing for men is raised with muscles everywhere.
Gilba, a Spirit, was standing with a smile, a helper enough to be sure that Reurus knew nothing more.
