A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 191: The Unbelievable Spirit
A girl named Spirit, Neddy.
The treatment of Neddy in Laval Waste City is similar to that of Sarah, a magical girl who conceals that she is a spirit and can use ice magic and water magic.
Naturally, Reurus keeps the identity. Not a Spirit like Sarah who made a "contract", but for Reurus, he saved his life on the verge of drowning and fulfilled his wish to save the city of Laval Waste.
Sometimes he wanted to bring Neddy home, and as a matter of course Reurus invited Neddy home.
The neighborhood residents who saw Neddy looked strange and convinced, and there was a strange incident where the town residents were suddenly dragged into the alley, but the area was not a problem for Reus.
But the problem with bringing Neddy home - that's the lack of Neddy's room.
Dwarves like Meer and Calvin “did it overnight” gave us the size of a basement floor and two floors above ground, but the number of rooms is limited.
The second floor is each room, the first floor is the living room, the basement is a warehouse and a bath, and when new residents are added, there will be a shortage of private rooms.
I don't think that the number of new residents will increase in such a short period of time even as a revulsion, and I am troubled by this.
I could ask Calvin and the others to rebuild it again, but our house on the first floor of Reurus' bungalow “evolved overnight because of 50 dwarves.
Most of the dwarves who lived at that time moved into the Vannille territory to form settlements, and the five or so dwarves left in the abandoned city of Laval alone would take time to rebuild.
Three stories, a wall in the living room and a private room, or more basements. The three choices are because the land next to the house is not empty, but there is resistance to “remodeling” our home, which is starting to get attached.
I also thought about opening the basement warehouse and making it my room, but I wanted to refrain from sleeping in places where the sun doesn't shine.
Then Reurus thought that he would leave the private room. I want a private space, but if you stay in the room, Eliza and Sarah will attack. I thought it would be better if I stayed in the living room from the beginning.
That way, Mia, who has an intriguing temperament, won't hesitate to show her face. If you lay down your bedding on the edge of the living room and get up, you should be fine.
Regardless of Sarah and Neddy's “real age", girls of their age will need more private space than Reurus.
With that in mind, it is easier to vacate the room with a realuse that can live with only roofs and walls.
I was reluctant to give up on my younger daughter and felt like a father who didn't have a place to stay at home, but Reurus tried so hard not to mind. I am a family member, but not a father. Even if you add the age of the previous life, it is not strange for the father.
There are other ways to put someone in the same room.
(I don't know the combination....)
Eliza and Sarah quarrel a lot, but somehow they're friendly, so it's an option. One fight a day is likely to happen.
Eliza and Meer, or Sarah and Meer - the most difficult and safe combination in character. With a gentle personality that suits her surroundings, it looks like either Eliza or Sarah will be able to stay in the same room.
(But that kind of kid might be the only one who can store it inside.....)
Meer seems to be reluctant to be in her room. Then you won't be able to rest.
And this new addition, Neddy. This was the character that was troublesome to combine again.
Eliza and Neddy - Somehow Eliza seems to be taking care of herself, but she is unknown due to her short relationship.
Meer and Neddy - It would be hard to ask Meer, a spiritualist, to live with the spirits. This is an exception because Sarah is becoming less reluctant.
Sarah and Neddy - there will definitely be problems. It's a big problem. The combination is no worse, and Reurus sees that our home could collapse if we succeed.
It's an illusion that spirits get along well with each other. The spirits of fire and the spirits that manipulate water and ice are exposed as incompatible, but they are also incompatible in terms of character.
Reurus looked back at the distant disturbances that had occurred here recently.
It was one day when Reurus and the others returned to the abandoned city of Laval and less time passed.
It happened when Reurus relaxed in the living room because it was my home for the first time in a long time.
Eliza went with Meer to the clothing store, and in the living room were Reurus, Sarah, and Neddy.
Neddy looked strange and asked Neddy, who knew nothing more than Reurus, who grew up in Shena Village, that Reurus was teaching him everything he knew.
"Reurus... what does my name mean?
"Meaning? Oh, of course it does. Even so, I guess it doesn't make sense in this world...."
In the second half, Reurus murmured loudly enough not to be heard by Neddy.
It's a name I spent three days on a slime on a lonely island on Lake Mersena, but Neddy's name came after 'Undine'.
Instead of being sepia, I desperately dug back memories that had become black and white, and spent three days remembering the name of the Spirit related to water in the previous life.
As expected, I changed it slightly, but it must have been a spirit related to water. Neddy might have used a different name to use ice magic, but I thought it would be good because I met him on Lake Mersena, which is rich in water.
"What, did Reurus give you Neddy's name? Why?"
But Sarah waits for this. Sarah met Neddy for the first time after Reurus named her, so she never knew.
"Whatever... it's inconvenient to call me because I don't have a name. After three days of trouble, I finally settled down to a simple name."
― ― And this statement ignites Sarah's heart.
"Three days... let's see...? Wow, it wasn't three days, it was three seconds!
Sarah rubbed against Reurus, gripping her neck and complaining with tears. Asked why it was so different, Reurus said calmly.
"No, Sarah, what is my name? 'Cause you asked me, didn't you? When I ask if it's Salamander's salad, I'll start calling it good...."
It is now time to formally enter into a "contract" with Sarah, a lovely Reurus that has been around since everyday, but the initial impression I encountered was the worst.
After being attacked by the Gregorians about Eliza, he felt the trouble and anomaly. It was suddenly that the Spirit, which seemed likely to fly away, entered into a unilateral "contract".
Moreover, it was declared that it would never leave, and even if it was left, it would follow, so it did not accumulate as a reuse. Imagining the problems that would arise by bringing the Spirit, Reurus was ready to turn Zilba into an enemy and slay Sarah.
In that regard, Neddy was a benefactor in the rescue at Lake Mersena, helping Reurus sink with all his efforts, even though he was swimming towards land. The difference in “start point” is probably related.
Of course, I wouldn't have to struggle if Sarah was convinced.
"Well, there's something about Salamander Sarah, isn't there? It means more to you than Neddy!
"No, it feels like Tama River's balls... oh, I can remember it all right."
"What is tamagawa!? Who's Tamachan!?
Perhaps a good memory can be unexpectedly and lightly unearthed. Reurus nodded with emotion and remembered the news she had seen before, but Sarah was about to cry more than half a tear.
Well, let's just leave it on the side.
"Don't leave me!? Who's Tamachan? Other spirits?
It's Sarah who heats up, but she also has trouble reacting as a revulsion. It's really unusual, and the name comes up like a bubble in the bottom of the water. Salamander has nothing to do with fine dust.
"Sarah is Sarah, Neddy is Neddy. They're both my loved ones... can't we?
Sure, Sarah and Neddy had differences in the process and duration of acceptance, but now they're both important.
A Spirit of Fire who officially entered into a "contract".
A spirit that deals with ice magic and water magic that saved lives.
I do not intend to disadvantage either of them, nor does Eliza or Meer, my other companions.
"Mmm... mmm..."
Sarah feels that there is no lie in Reurus's voice. But it doesn't matter whether emotions are convincing or not.
Sometimes Neddy doesn't have the common sense of human society, and the recent Reurus is worthy of taking care of Neddy. He's taking care of Neddy with a hands-on approach and the finesse and intimacy he needs to describe.
That's not funny to Sarah. It was not interesting that the contractor (Reurus) cared about spirits other than himself.
Sarah expressed her dissatisfaction by inflating her cheeks like a squirrel. It was a revulsion that made me want to stick my fingers in that swollen cheek, but I weighed myself.
(Sarah and Neddy don't look alike in the sense of being emotionally rich... which one is “normal” as a spirit?)
Intuitive, emotional Sarah and quiet, grown-up Neddy. It was a revulsion that raised doubts about both of them, but I truncated it with my heart that it doesn't matter.
Instead, think about how to forgive Sarah. I didn't have a daughter in my previous life, and I don't know what to do with a child who's been stubborn.
"... why don't you go shopping for a distraction? Here's the pocket money."
"Wow! It's pocket money! Then I'll go to the clothes shop too!
Reurus makes a big mistake, and Sarah rushes away with great joy with tears. When Sarah runs away with a rattling noise, the silence returns to the house.
(I'll give it to you myself, but is that okay...)
Is it good that spirits worshipped by spiritualism, which works with Gregorianism in religion? Reurus murmured inside out, but she convinced herself that it was okay because it was Sarah.
"That's why I won't be fooled!? What is Tamachan after all!?
But after five minutes, Sarah came back and the house became noisy again.
With each passing incident, Sarah was able to see herself poking at Neddy, and Reurus sighed back at the disturbance.
"I figured I'd move to the living room... even if I don't have a room, there's a house, and that's enough."
It may be remodeled someday, but that will be enough for now. It was a revus that I could tell myself.
