A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 320: The King's Capital of Lovama Part 2

Reurus was overwhelmed by the enormity of King's City, but the gates that separated the inside and outside of the walls were also large.

The double-opened door with a height of nearly ten meters is made of metal, and you can feel the magic slightly whether it is "enhanced" using "magic letters".

A moat filled with water was installed just a short distance from the walls, and the height of the walls, including the doors, and the thickness of the walls seemed very defensive.

"It's really big when I look around... it's hard to climb the walls and break in."

The walls are almost perpendicular, so if you don't use "caloric liberation", it is likely to fall on the way.

When Reurus thought of that, he saw several figures in front of the gate.

Many of the merchants and travellers were trying to enter King's Landing just like the Reurus. They were being inspected, soldiers appeared, and they were checking their baggage and identity.

"Collard"

"Yes, just a moment."

Not so much as a row of serpents, but by the end of the inspection of the people lined up earlier, the sun was about to set. But Natalia thought the same thing, and called Collard ahead before Reurus asked.

Collard, who asked Meer for the carriage, rushed to the castle gate with unmatched agility.

"What did Mr. Collard do?

"Explain the situation. I'm a quasi-bar, and I'm exempt from a cumbersome test because I was summoned to King's Landing. I wonder if it's enough to check the shape of the luggage... there's nothing left to do here."

When Natalia caught him talking, Reurus looked ahead and saw Collard talking to the soldier who was examining him at the gate.

And in a few minutes, Collard will be back with his soldiers.

"Amendora, this way, please."

"Thank you."

Call out Natalia's family name and the soldiers start guiding the carriage. Then they overtook those lined up in front of the gate, and guided them to the gate.

(It's like a noble privilege... I heard that the Baron is not noble, but it's great enough to be treated special.)

It is a realuse that lightly looks at the people who were lined up earlier, but there is no sign of discontent. Is that common or do you think it would be troublesome to complain to someone who is equivalent to a nobleman?

Those were the Reurus who went to the top of the line with such doubts, but, as Natalia said, the soldiers simply checked the carriage's luggage lightly and pulled back.

However, that did not mean that they were allowed to pass, and other soldiers carried a mirror the size of which they were carrying.

I don't even know the material, but the mirrors that I think I made by polishing the metal reflect the appearance of the Reurus. The mirror felt a little magic, but as far as Reurus could judge, there was no sense of being “something”.

(... why the mirror?

Before entering King's Landing, Reurus leaned his head inside. However, the soldiers did not say anything in particular, pointing the mirror at each of the Reurus and pulling it in quickly.

-What was that? Because I felt the magic, it's like magic equipment....)

It seems that Reurus was not the only one who wondered about the soldiers' behavior, but Eliza, Sarah, Meer and Neddy were also wondering. Natalia and Gilba were magnificent and didn't seem particularly concerned.

"Thank you for your help."

"Thank you. Then let me pass."

Natalia smiled back at the soldiers' words, and the party dived through the gate. Collard, who had spoken to the soldiers, also returned and stood by the horse so that the carriage did not run wild.

The gates were short but tunneled to the exterior of the huge walls. The walls seemed to be not only high, but also thick, with Reurus and the others passing through tunnels exceeding 10 meters.

"Yoshi-san, that mirror..."

When Reurus whispered to Natalia, who looked plain, Natalia replied in the same whisper.

"Oh, that mirror? It's a magic tool to see through Change."

Natalia tells you the identity of the mirror lightly because it's nothing to hide. When I heard that, Reurus looked back as if he didn't think so.

(Seeing through 'change'... spy countermeasures? No, to prevent advanced monsters from breaking in?

The King's Capital is the only one, and security seems to be tight. However, I felt that it was a little excessive to place a mirror to see who was changing.

(I mean, there are some advanced monsters that are breaking into the whole town...)

What came to mind in Reurus was the appearance of a fighting-friend (Vaniel). I remembered that I had entered with dignity using "change" before, and I was convinced that "change" measures were necessary.

However, a 'changed' vanilla is likely to jump over the walls and invade. I'm sure the guards are good enough to protect King's Landing, but Vanille is likely to break into it with a slight relaxation.

"Wow... you should have seen it better. How do you make a magic tool that sees through" change "... I wonder if you can engrave" invalidation "in the mirror... yeah, if it's such a simple mechanism, it'll spread even more..."

When Reurus thought about Vanille, Mia murmured with a sad voice. Apparently, he touched the Dwarf, Meer's string.

(I suppose it should be called King's Landing... but what kind of “content” is it?)

Regardless of the thickness of the walls and the confirmation by the soldiers, what are the people who live in the King's City? Also, is it different from the castle city that you have visited before?

As expected, it is unlike any other townscape I have ever seen, but it is also possible that there is a scene full of exotic feelings that are not exotic.

While thinking about what kind of town would welcome him, Reus passed through the tunnel of the castle wall.

"--I 've been expecting you, Spirit."

Then, I ran into a group of people who were all smiling.

…………

Clearly, Reurus silences in front of a crowd that thinks he was waiting for Sarah and Neddy, to be exact.

The number of the group is about thirty, and everyone is smiling uniformly. Age and gender seemed to be young and old, and some men and women were older, while others were not much older than Reurus.

The costumes are black, similar to the monk costumes worn by Esther and Gilba, all with spiritual necklaces on their necks.

(Spirits of King's Landing...) Apparently I've been waiting for you to come out...)

The way they all smiled seemed creepy from the side, but "that smile” was familiar in Zimbabwe. Therefore, Reurus is not particularly upset and turns his gaze toward Zilba.

…………

Gilba was as silent as Reurus. Unlike Reurus, however, his eyes have a vigilant color.

There is no hostility towards the other party. In the first place, there are danger zones such as being attacked as soon as you enter King's City.

--Still, Reurus complained that he should not be alarmed.

"I'm sorry. I heard that I could meet the Spirit, and I rudely pressed him."

One woman lowers her head to represent the group. The others lowered their heads and expressed their gratitude.

(... this person)

Reurus saw the woman, remembering what caught her, raised his eyebrows slightly.

A woman is about half a hundred and fifty centimeters tall, which is generally the size of a woman in this world. I have a face that should be regarded as beautiful rather than cute, but I can see the strength of will in the red eyes.

The golden hair stretched to the shoulders is straight and smooth. She wore black monk clothes like everyone else, but had an overall slender impression.

Judging by appearance alone, the age will be older than Reurus.

However, it was not the age or clothing that caught the woman. The atmosphere was different, but there was something about the look on his face.

(You look just like Estelle... but the atmosphere is the opposite...)

The woman in front of her is probably the sister of Esther that Zilba was talking about.

It is a realuse that is judged by the appearance of a woman, but even though she has a smile, the impression of the woman is different from that directed to Ester.

I didn't even say it smelled spooky, but I felt an atmosphere that I couldn't be alert to.

"This is... it's been a long time, Sophia."

"Yes, it's been a long time, Mr. Gilba."

Gilba speaks to Sofia, a woman with a smile and a slight silence.

Sofia responded with a smile as usual, but her tone was somewhere else's.

"Can I ask you something?

Is that why you should say that? Gilba tries to get the conversation out instantly, even though she says she hasn't seen him in a long time.

We're not completely blocking the path, but we can't just leave it there.

"I already told you. I heard that I can meet the Spirit, so it depends on coming here."

"Is there no other intention?

…… Is there anything more important than meeting the Spirit?

Sofia leans her neck strangely with a neat look.

(I heard you could see me... from whom?

Meanwhile, Reus had doubts about Sofia's words. Of course, Reus and the others had something to do with the church in King's Landing, but I don't remember giving out enough information to get us out of here accurately.

Strangely enough, Sofia's gaze turned towards Sarah and Neddy. Then he deepened his smile and poked one knee at both of them with his hands on his chest.

"You two are spirits, right? It's an honor to meet you. If you don't mind, I'd like to welcome you to our church."

"Oh, I hate it?

And there was no time for Reurus to stop, and Sarah truncated Sofia's offer.
