A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 331: The Valuation of King's Landing
Five days passed since the Reurus came to King's Landing.
Meanwhile, Reus went to the Spiritual Cathedral Church as scheduled, and Sarah and Neddy were recognized as spirits, thinking that the “difficulties” in King's City had been overcome.
There seems to be a gift from Sofia, but if you accept it, Reurus will also be recognized as a spiritual person.
But so far, there has been no call from Sofia, no visit from the messenger, and the time has passed to call it peace.
Natalia is still going out with Collard for days, but so far there's nothing we can do for the Reurus.
Can it be called work to look around the King's Capital, which would be the most prosperous in Mataroi, in order to deepen its insight?
King's city is wide, and it will take more than a day and a week to look around from edge to edge. For this reason, we focused on the area surrounding the rental house, the pleasure district, and the area where shops connect houses, as well as places with a lot of traffic.
The number of inhabitants of King's City was tens of thousands - 50,000 as far as Natalia and Collard knew, but it seems that the two who were separated from the King's City on an annual basis do not know the exact number.
In Japan in the previous life, it was the size of a regional city, but it is the place where the largest population exists as far as Reurus can see in this world.
Surrounded by walls, it has a limited land and the impression that buildings are dense, but it is still an orderly city for more than 50,000 people.
As expected, although the trails are soil, the roads where many people interact are paved with cobblestones, and side ditches are maintained to prevent overflowing with water when it rains. Public toilets are installed here and there, just like in Laval Waste City, and there is no trace of unhygiene.
The houses lined up were huge mansions inhabited by aristocrats, large houses that perhaps would be inhabited by the wealthy, houses that seemed to be inhabited by the families of the smaller ones compared to them, and even two- and three-story multi-family houses.
Building materials include stone, wood, and brick, which is the difference between Laval's abandoned home and cloud mud. I spend more time outside than at home because I frequently go away, but seeing that even group homes are built to be tougher than at home makes me feel sad as a revulsion.
Shortly after I came to King's City, I was surrounded by Sofia spirits at the end of the arrow diving through the castle gate, so I had little chance to look around King's City carefully during the day.
Therefore, I think that Reus is a good opportunity and encourage the observation of the surroundings.
And they walked with Eliza, and Sarah, and Meer, and Neddy. Gilba was doing something else because she needed it, and Reurus and the others were the only ones walking around King's Landing.
Of course, just because it's in town doesn't bother you, and if you see a suspicious person as the magic approaches, it's the math to escape immediately.
(I don't remember going abroad even in my previous life... and I feel like this is fresh.)
The faces of the walkers are bright and full of vitality. Walking on the streets of the abandoned city of Laval can give you a touch of a similar vibe, but it's only "similar”.
The people who live in King's Landing look as if they have no doubt that a bright day will come tomorrow. Of course, you have more life and work problems than you are a human being.
Still, from Reurus, it seemed that there were many people with calm faces who were satisfied.
"I've been looking around King's Landing for the last few days..."
Reurus was not tired of looking at the surrounding landscape and people walking, but Eliza, who was observing the surroundings as well, murmured.
"What a peaceful place. There must be so much good governance."
"Better than being laid with bad governance... well, it's not as good as being laid around King's City."
While nodding to Eliza's words, Reurus shrugged his shoulders.
The view around King's Landing that I saw before entering King's Landing. When I saw a large number of fields and the people working there, I could not honestly say that good governance was laid.
"Hmm... it's kind of a boring place."
"... yeah"
It was Sarah and Neddy who spoke vaguely but negatively compared to Reurus and Eliza. As I put it, I look around in a boring way.
It was nice to go out with Reurus, but it was boring to look around.
"I'm not bored, but am I a little restless? It's a little more natural... I'd rather be closer."
While trying to forgive Sarah and Neddy, it was Meer who expressed a somewhat negative opinion rather than neutrality. He is striking the cobblestone at his feet with his shoe tip, and his eyebrows look lonely somewhere.
When we first met, Meer, who was digging holes in the ground to form a village, might not like the little dirt from the dwarf.
Reurus is positive for the townships and people of King's Landing, Eliza is positive neutral, Meer is negative neutral, Sarah and Neddy are negative.
“Original life” may be related to each other, but it was unusual for opinions to differ so far.
However, if you are asked whether you live in the King's City or the Waste City of Laval, you should choose the Waste City of Laval.
Natalia said she wanted to show the King's Landing to make her realize the difference with the abandoned city of Laval. I have visited this fortified city over there, Reurus, but compared to the abandoned city of Laval, there are many things I think.
(You can't be like this king's capital, but if independence is achieved, will everyone in the abandoned city of Laval live a calm life....)
I haven't heard much about Natalia since independence, but I've heard that you want to make the abandoned city of Laval a "normal town” so that your friends in the abandoned city can live in peace every day.
For this reason, considering Natalia, who is currently running around, I feel like I'm just looking around the King's City. Just because you want to see various places, if you let your physical abilities tell you to run around, you could be stopped by soldiers patrolling the whole town.
The Dragon Slasher and armor are kept in the rental house, but the Neck Hunter sword and dagger are worn as a precaution. If armed men were doing strange moves, soldiers would fly in at once.
Nevertheless, let's take a look around King's Landing as long as time permits. That was the idea of Reurus, but I stopped when I saw a far-sighted carriage.
Sitting on the podium was Collard, and he noticed Reurus and the others approaching while slowing down the carriage. Then Natalia, who was on the part of the truck, called out.
"I just met you in a nice place. Everybody, get in the carriage."
In response to such an unexpected call, Reurus and the others looked at each other.
So Reurus and the others on the carriage were taken to the area where the big shops were lined up.
Various specialty stores and complex shops are lined up, including groceries and household goods, weapons and protective equipment, miscellaneous goods and furniture, clothing and decorations.
One of the carriages carrying the Reurus stopped, the garment shop.
"What, you're not going to mend your clothes, are you?
When it comes to clothing stores, it doesn't mean that they only deal with second-hand clothing like in Laval Waste City. Like other buildings, the stone shop structure is very splendid, and there is a style that would never set foot in a lifetime if it weren't for use.
Whether you're brought to a place like that, it's hard to react as a revulsion.
"It's not my clothes to mend... your clothes"
"... eh?
Reurus turns his eyes without thinking of Natalia's words. Natalia says she's suddenly brought to the clothes store to mend her clothes.
"That's again... why?
"I'm not saying it's a dress suit, but I also need some“ seeable ”clothes. I told you... that there is a nobleman who is interested in the Monster Eater and wants to connect his face, right? I can't go out in my usual personal clothes."
That's how Reurus silences himself. Looking back, it was indeed mentioned as one of the reasons for going to King's City.
"Speaking of which, yes... but I should have made it in Laval Waste Town..."
"The quality of the fabric is completely different, and sometimes it's fashionable. If you came to King's Landing, you'd better make it in King's Landing. I was about to get ready, but I brought you here just because you were right in front of me. I was almost free."
I really wanted to bring her a little faster, but Natalia murmured. I've been busy every day since I came to King's Landing, but it looks like I've finally had some time.
"Oh, I'll pay for the money, so don't worry about it. This is a necessary expense."
"Don't worry... it looks expensive when I think about it from the store..."
He carries money by looking around King's City, but his forehead is not that big. I was told that I would buy clothes and I couldn't nod honestly because it was too sudden.
"I see... one big gold coin in a set up and down."
"Big gold?
"Big Gold Coins"
Natalia answers Reurus with her face. I thought it was a joke, but there were no signs of fine dust.
(Thinking about it in my previous life, about a million yen...? Million yen... million yen...)
As far as Reurus knows, there are no ready-made products produced in large quantities per size in this world. Brand new clothes are custom-made to fit your body shape, and if you buy them second-hand, you will find clothes that are close to your body shape and buy them.
Is it cheap or expensive considering that it is made to order? As a reuse, it would be enough to buy second-hand clothes from a clothing store in Laval Waste City, but that's not exactly how it works.
"I have some for Eliza's girls... and even if they make it as soon as possible, I'm relieved it won't be five big gold coins in five."
Natalia laughs at that, but as a revulsion, she has trouble choosing her expression.
(Do you mean to get a discount because I will order more than one? I'm sure it won't be half price... but even if it's about three big coins, it's about the same amount as the house I built... huh...)
Speaking of five people, Reurus is distant when he realizes that the cost of clothing may exceed the construction cost of his home.
(... the King's Capital is no good after all, yeah)
With a distant eye, Reus cast his previous positive assessment of the King's City.
