A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 402: The Third Part 1

The Reurus, who took Gilba, set out from the city of Speranza to the city of Lemona.

As Reurus and the others escaped, we had a discussion about the defense of the town of Speranza, so the departure was after noon.

Still, head straight through the woods and you'll be able to visit the town of Lemona the next day.

Collard and the dwarves will be in charge of the defense while the Reurus are gone from town. A similar monster can deal with it with plenty of leeway, and even advanced monsters can be defended depending on their abilities.

Melee fights are dominant, but Dwarves are also intermediate monsters. The defensive power of the town of Speranza, home to forty dwarves like that, is far more powerful than a soldier of the same size. If I succeed, it's not a problem to think of it as more than a few times as powerful.

It would have been easier to deal with a herd of monsters like the one I attacked the other day if I had deployed a flying device, the Crossbow, there to allow for ranged attacks.

Against this backdrop, you can safely leave the city of Speranza to Collard to defend as a Reurus. The dwarves are usually of a strong personality, but when something happens, they follow Collard.

He used to belong to the National Army, and since becoming a knight, Collard has led his men. I'm sure the operation of the group is very handy.

"If I put forty dwarves into town building, it'll be that big in less than six months... no, I'll try to live longer. At this age, it's fresh with all the things you don't know."

Gilba chattered as she ran through the woods. The expression has a gentle smile on it, but as a revulsion, I can only return the bitter smile.

"Perhaps in a few years it will grow even more than the town of Lemona... I feel that there is a problem even if I do it too flashy, but is it okay?

Somewhere else in town is telling me to help myself. Gilba laughs deeply at the fearful Reurus.

"Even if you're a subhuman, you can live in a town if you don't have a problem, and Baron Amendura will give them the right of abode? In that case, it would be the people of Baron Amondola's territory, and it would be difficult to put in such“ spears ”."

"Hee... but why aren't you seeing any strangers in other towns? I've been to various towns before, but I've never seen one before.

Apart from Calvin and the others Reurus found, there will be dwarfs to look for. Given the fact that other dwarves have moved to the foothills of the Veos volcano, it is not unusual, if not impossible.

Gilba turns the type of smile into a bitter smile against Reurus, who runs carefully to avoid getting his feet taken from the roots of the tree.

"No matter how intelligent and able to speak the Comona language, some people think it's a kind of monster... even as a lord, it's hard to accept for the safety of the people."

"Really...."

As a realuse, dwarves are friendly and easy to get along with.

Character is refreshing like breaking a bamboo, and I don't care about the details behind the “work". There are places that are alcoholic, temperamental and angry, but in that case, they can be resolved immediately by beating each other. Rather, I even felt that beating each other would deepen my relationship.

Raval Waste Town was initially vigilant, but gradually gained acceptance, mainly for adventurers and craftsmen. Nowadays, even if I was drinking alcohol at Dominic's restaurant, no one cares.

"Some people live in cities surrounded by walls, or have never seen monsters in some places. Some people spend the rest of their lives in a town where they were born, and it's hard to live with monsters even if you're a subhuman."

"Is that so...."

"Yes... I see the town of Lemona."

That's what Gilba says when she runs out of the woods chatting like that. Behind that line of sight was the town of Lemona, and Leurus tightened his eyes.

The time was the day after we left the town of Speranza - that morning.

Around the town of Lemona, you can still see people working in the fields and soldiers patrolling, but nothing has changed.

This time it could be a battle, but the visible farmer is working in the field with a calm face, and the soldiers are only watching their surroundings with a serious look.

"Now, for the last time, if you're in a fight, we'll prioritize running first. We can move over the roof, and we can get past the walls that surround the city."

Zilba stops her legs for a while and talks about her “future” policy.

"According to Reurus's predictions, some people have magic or 'protection' to manipulate others, but don't kill them if they manipulate the city's inhabitants. I can't help but kill one or two bones, but I can't kill them if they're being manipulated."

Reurus nodded aside from Neddy in Gilba's words. Neddy seemed somewhat dissatisfied, but he didn't seem to act on his own as before.

"Once the masterpiece you're manipulating is discovered, I'd like to finish it off as quickly as I can. However, if you don't know who you're dealing with, or if you decide you can't get rid of them, you'll leave. It's up to me or Mr. Reurus to make that decision."

Zilba has chosen to withdraw from the beginning, but while Reurus nods, he looks at Zilba with a mix of emotions and questions.

(It seems strangely familiar... from the target side, I'm not afraid of Jilba-san lurking and attacking...)

Gilba said she was doing "yam” when she was young, but she may have done something similar.

"But if you're a Gregorian, I'll kill you."

(Ah, it was Jilba's usual...)

However, despite the noisy words that followed, Reurus was relieved.

(Well, when it comes to manipulating things, I can only think of Rebecca... in that case, I can't leave.)

Reurus remembers Rebecca's face when she was at war. I thought it was unlikely, but if Rebecca came out, I would have done it on the spot.

Well, shall we go?

Reurus, who discussed brief but future policies, walked out with Gilba's words as a sign. Reurus and Gilba, Sarah and Neddy were natural, but Eliza and Meer were nervous or slightly stiff.

(If I succeed, it's like a raid... even if I'm nervous)

With that in mind, Reurus put his hand on Eliza and Meer's head to defuse the tension. And lightly stroking them, Eliza and Meer set their pace in a reassuring manner.

That's a little bit of walking. Reurus and the others approach the gates of the city of Lemona. Then the soldier who noticed it came near with his spear in one hand.

"Who are you!?... you guys."

Someone has been a face to face soldier when he visited the town of Lemona before. The soldier pointed at the tip of the spear, but as soon as he saw the faces of the Reurus, he lowered the spear.

"Since the other day. What can I do for you... the other day?

(... hmm?

Reurus remembers the doubt in his heart, being careful not to put it on his face, to the soldier who looks reluctantly at him like that.

(Something about the atmosphere is different.....)

With such doubt, Reurus opens his mouth.

"That's where it is. Can I get a pass?

"Ah... hold on a second."

Soldiers rush to another soldier who was watching by the castle gate, and they exchange words several times before returning.

"I don't mind passing through... by the way, who are you? It seems to be a spiritual connection....."

The soldiers turned their surprised gaze towards Zilba. I've visited the town of Lemona three times before, but it's probably because I'm the first person to see it.

However, I don't have a face that is so harsh as to call it vigilance because I have decided from my outfit that I am a Spirit.

"My name is Jilba the Spirit. I had something to do with this town church."

"Really...."

Soldiers look at Gilba from the top of their head to the tip of their nails, leaning their necks to give way. When Reus thanked the soldier, he dived the gate because he had been given permission to pass.

(... hmm?

As you dive through the castle gate, Reurus feels uncomfortable.

I have visited the town of Lemona twice before, but as I dived through the castle gate I heard the noise of the town.

The footsteps and voices of the people you interact with can be heard from there.

"... hmm? It's a strange noise today."

Eliza leaks a strange voice because she feels the same discomfort as Reurus. Was Sarah and the others the same? They looked around with their eyes round.

"Years ago, when I visited before, it felt like this... it's different from the last time, right?

Gilba asks if you wonder how the Reurus reacted. Reurus replied quietly, being careful not to be heard.

"Would it be quieter or darker... anyway, it wasn't so“ normal ”?"

"Hmm...."

Zilba nods one by one and looks around in a natural motion. And I thought I had observed it for a few seconds, and I smiled and encouraged the Reurus and the others.

"Let's go to church first. If we meet the spirituals in this town, we may be able to ask them something."

Follow Gilba as she walks, and Reurus and the others walk. I was eager to deal with anything that happened, but not only Reus, but Eliza and the others also showed signs of confusion.

(But what... this discomfort?)

Unlike before, residents walking around town have bright faces. Reurus felt uncomfortable with the sound of walking, the voice of speaking, and their presence.

As Reurus walks with his neck tilted small, he leans in front of Saniel's shop. I wonder if it was the right time to go out. Saniel came out of the store.

"Ah... this is Reurus! Sorry about the other day! As for transporting the materials, the lord has finally given me permission... to break my promise twice, which is convenient, but I wonder if I can resume it in the near future..."

As soon as I saw Reurus's face, Saniel said something like that in a hurry.

But as for Reurus, he felt like he was being pushed into the void.

(This atmosphere... is different from "last time”? What the hell is going on?

Reurus glanced at Saniel with the momentum to rub his hands.
