A Dragon against the Whole World

Chapter 638 - 398: Facing the Storm

After Gordon proposed his violent theory, the entire heart network fell silent.

Even the usually steady and earnest Iron Dragon Solrog couldn’t help but speak up: "Is there a possibility that all of this is just a result of you being too full and overthinking things?"

He slowly spoke, carefully choosing his words, trying to wake Brother Long and pull him back to reality.

This Brother Long, having been raised by the Human Royal Court in a privileged environment, perhaps the greatest challenges and hardships he ever faced were struggling against his own overly plump physique, striving to shed the excess fat.

Despite the efforts he indeed put into it, his relatively more robust physique now is evidence of his attempts.

But compared to other blood relatives who struggled to survive and grow in the crisis-ridden and resource-poor Barbaric Land, his experiences still seemed too naive and smooth.

The innate pride and arrogance inherent in the Dragon Race were particularly evident in him.

In fact, due to the lack of harsh realities, it had become even more inflated.

Gordon was now very firm in his theory, believing himself to be the dragon destined by fate, unmoved by Solrog’s words.

"Impossible, absolutely impossible!"

His consciousness waved its claws in the mind network, saying as much.

In fact, on some level, Gordon’s thought process was a common psychological reflection among many prideful dragons.

The annals recorded too much about the glory and might of the Dragon Race.

Most dragons, from the moment they hatch, subconsciously believe the entire world should revolve around them.

This perception often needs to encounter the harsh reality’s head-on blows to wake up as if being doused in icy water.

Solrog and Samantha, including Galos, who had to fight for survival since their dragonling days, all had, to varying degrees, a similar self-centered perception stage.

The biggest difference with Gordon.

They all became clearly aware of reality after going through many trials and seeing the vast and cruel world.

The world will not easily turn for any individual’s will.

To achieve the grand blueprint and ambition in their hearts, one must put in a vast amount of blood, sweat, and effort.

Even if ultimately they might not reach the expected destination, still, they choose to move forward.

This journey itself is the meaning of their existence.

At this moment, Red Dragon Samantha let out a mocking laugh, breaking the brief silence.

"Gordon, according to what you’re saying, you might as well revert to your former obese pig-like form."

She spoke with a sharp, knife-like tone, her dragon face cold: "Since you so firmly believe yourself to be divinely destined, naturally there’s no need for any rigorous exercises and tedious training, just eat and sleep, sleep and eat, enjoy to the fullest, and let that so-called ’divine destiny’ achieve all those ’amazing’ feats for you!"

Samantha keenly felt that Gordon was looking for a respectable excuse for laziness.

Having seen his physique change before, Samantha thought this Brother Long had finally grown, but now it seems his essentially useless nature had not changed.

Towards this unreasonably poor Dragon Brother, a surge of frustrated disappointment rose within her.

However, what Samantha never expected was.

Iron Dragon Gordon did not follow her imagined easy way out but rather shook his thick neck firmly.

"You’re wrong, Samantha."

He replied solemnly: "Exercise, training, these rigorous practices, are not only indispensable but absolutely necessary."

He paused and continued: "I believe that destiny is not a permanently fixed, once-and-for-all gift."

"I am indeed the dragon destined by fate right now, but precisely because of this, I must strive to be worthy of this favor of destiny, and must not become complacent or lazy because of it."

"Otherwise, this precious favor from destiny will sooner or later be transferred elsewhere, or... completely disappear."

Hearing such unexpected words, Samantha couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment, a trace of bewilderment flashing across her large dragon face.

Next, she opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to habitually mock, but the smile just appeared before it instantly retracted, turning to speak in an even more ferocious tone: "Fool! What kind of self-contradictory nonsense are you spouting? When we meet again, I’ll smash your stupid head to pieces, so you’ll properly recognize what the harsh reality truly is!"

Samantha spoke harshly.

Gordon, naturally, would not back down and immediately retorted: "Bring it on! Who’s afraid of who! The stuff I’ve eaten over the years is not for nothing! It’s long been transformed into power!"

The two argued fiercely like kindled powder kegs.

Words reflected mutual combat, neither yielding.

This familiar scene didn’t surprise Galos at all, his heart unmoved.

Back in their dragonling days, because they hatched extraordinarily close in time, these two dragons were always in such a dispute-and-fight, neither accepting the other state.

"Nasha and Alberto, these Golden Dragon siblings are currently in the wilderness, what have they been up to lately?"

Galos ignored the bickering adjacent dragons, directing his question to Iron Dragon Solrog.

"Alberto has been touring the various territories of our Molten Iron Tribe, observing and recording."
