A Dragon against the Whole World

Ultimately, an unavoidable large-scale civil war engulfing the entire Dragon Race erupted.

Countless Giant Dragons fell in fratricidal killings.

Countless glorious Dragon City States were reduced to ruins.

The First Epoch of the giant dragon’s rule ended in dimness amidst this tragic internal strife.

Seizing this millennium opportunity when the Dragon Race was at its weakest, the Giants and Elves were the first to sound the horn of rebellion. Many other races long suppressed by the Dragon Race followed suit, united together against their former rulers, heralding the grand prelude of the Second Epoch.

After millennia of brutal warfare, the Dragon Race was completely pulled down from its hegemonic pedestal, while the Giants and Elves also paid a heavy price under the fierce counterattack of the Dragon Race, greatly diminishing their strength.

Eventually, all sides gradually ceased hostilities and entered a phase of recuperation, marking the end of the Second Epoch of resistance against giant dragon hegemony.

To this day, the human tribes have risen prominently, with Beastmen, Dwarves, and many other races rapidly growing and developing.

Although the Dragon Race, Giants, and Elves, these once-supreme rulers, are no longer at their peak, they remain formidable forces that cannot be underestimated.

The whole world has entered the Third Epoch, where multiple races coexist, flourish in diversity, and weave a tapestry of competition and cooperation.

"A song to cease, the Giant Dragon’s heir!"

Silver Dragon Adri’s tone suddenly became impassioned and solemn, as he chanted in an ancient, cadence-rich recitative:

"Thou shalt inherit the Dragon God’s great cause and reign over the bygone First World—though it be but a shattered past!"

This line is from the final Chapter of the "Song of the Giant Dragon."

This grand ballad, which chronicles the rise and fall of the Dragon Race and even mirrors the developmental trajectories of many world planes, is imprinted in the inheritance memories of all Giant Dragons.

To Galos, this "Song of the Giant Dragon" inevitably carries a tendency of self-glorification of the Dragon Race, even deliberately downplaying the brutal civil war that led to the end of the First Epoch, yet its historical and spiritual significance ensures its widespread circulation within the Dragon Race, deeply etched into the hearts of many Giant Dragons, especially the Metal Dragons.

"The bygone First World, our First Epoch ruled by Giant Dragons."

The Silver Dragon’s tone returned to normal, sighing: "Alas, time cannot flow backward, the wheels of history roll everforward, we can no longer return; for now, we can only look to the future, striving to ensure our Dragon Race retains a firm position in this new era’s torrent."

Galos did not feel much about this.

Due to a harsh survival environment and cruel upbringing, Evil Dragons often focus more on the present, pragmatic and calm.

Instead, many Metal Dragons have a nostalgic sentiment in their bones, fond of reminiscing about the glorious past, and the present Silver Dragon Adri is evidently no exception.

"If the Dragon Race truly has a chance to restore the glory of the First Epoch, then perhaps, by that time, the Metal Dragons who usually uphold order and goodness might become more mad and persistent than most Evil Dragons."

Galos thought silently, with no doubt in his mind about it.

Suddenly, a question flashed through his mind that he had pondered since childhood but never found an answer to.

"My inheritance mentioned that in the distant past, the Sub-iron Dragon Clan was also part of the Metal Dragon Race. In the early First Epoch, there was no notion of an independent Sub-iron Dragon."

Galos looked at Adri, posing his question.

"However, the inheritance is vague and does not clearly document the reasons why the Sub-iron Dragon Clan was later expelled from the Metal Dragon Race."

He paused and went on to express another doubt: "Moreover, deep in the inheritance of my own Iron Dragon Bloodline, there is a vague mention of a being known as the Iron Dragon King, whose might allegedly rivaled the great Platinum Dragon God and the Immortal Dragon Queen, even being honored as the Supreme Dragon King."

"Yet, such a being, who should be renowned across countless worlds, leaves nothing more than fragmentary words in the inheritance, with no concrete deeds recounted within the Dragon Race, which truly perplexes me. It’s unclear whether such rumors are true or false."

He looked at the Silver Dragon and asked: "In the Metal Dragon’s inheritance, are there clearer answers to these mysteries?"

The Silver Dragon, hearing this, slightly shook his head.

"The First Epoch is indeed far too distant from now, and the dust of ages has buried too many truths." He said candidly: "As for the specific history of that ancient time, our Metal Dragon’s inheritance also contains many gaps and ambiguities; much information remains as nothing more than fragmented pieces."

Galos had merely asked on a whim.

Since he didn’t get any definitive answer, he let go of this question for the time being, not probing further.

Meanwhile, the Red Copper Dragon Selena, who had been quietly observing, turned her gaze to the young Red Iron Dragon.

"Galos, the bloodshot in your eyes seems quite unusual?" She observed keenly and said, "I feel your mental state seems somewhat unstable. During the previous battle, you were full of aggression and restlessness, and although it’s calmed some now, there’s still something off."

She paused, directly asking: "This shouldn’t be something that can be explained by simple sleep deprivation or mental fatigue, right?"

Hearing these detailed observations and questions from his mate, the Silver Dragon Adri also turned his searching gaze toward Galos.

He had vaguely sensed something was not quite right with Galos’s condition earlier, but because his attention was mostly on practice and his daughter, he had not delved into it.

Now, pointed out by Selena, he too realized the crux of the issue.
