A Night of Desire

Clara Grant felt a little embarrassed. She had just promised Director Keane that starting filming tomorrow would be no problem. She’d even insisted there was no need to consult Seth Quinn, certain he wouldn’t object.

And yet, the moment she hung up, she was already eating her words. ’Talk about getting shot down fast!’

After the embarrassment came a flicker of alarm. ’Could there be a special reason? Maybe it involves some kind of business decision, and that’s why he doesn’t agree?’

’I don’t know the first thing about his business. By making the decision for him, could I have caused some kind of trouble?’

But after thinking it over, she decided it probably wasn’t that serious.

Unable to figure it out, Clara Grant decided to just stop overthinking it. She looked at him a little timidly and asked, "Why don’t you agree?"

"Of course I don’t agree. How many days have you even been with me? You’re leaving again so soon to go film? I wanted you to stay with me for a few more days," Seth Quinn said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Clara Grant was stunned for a moment when she heard his answer, then she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She had thought there was some important reason, and it had given her a scare. She never imagined *this* would be his reason for refusing!

Although she found his reason a bit absurd, she still breathed a sigh of relief. ’As long as I haven’t caused him any real trouble, it’s fine.’

Clara Grant shrugged. "But I already promised Director Keane. I’m due back on set tomorrow morning."

Seth Quinn’s brows shot up at her words, and he was clearly displeased. "No. I don’t agree. Call him back and tell him you’re not available. Tell him you’ll start in a few days."

Clara Grant couldn’t help but roll her eyes. "If we start in a few days, isn’t it your money that’s being burned every single day the production is on hold? Other bosses are racking their brains trying to save money, yet you’re finding ways to waste it."

"I don’t care about burning money. It’s not like I can burn through all of it anyway. I just want you to stay with me for a few more days." Seth Quinn said dismissively, picking up her phone and holding it out to her. "Here. Call Liam Keane."

Clara Grant didn’t take it. "No. I just gave him my word. How can I go back on it now?"

’I just promised I’d be back on set tomorrow, and now I’m supposed to call him right back and say I can’t make it? What reason would I even give? That Seth Quinn wants me to stay with him a few more days? I could never say that. Do I have no pride?’

"Then I’ll call," Seth Quinn said. Seeing her resolute expression, he pulled his hand back and started to look through her call history himself.

Before he could even open the call log, Clara Grant snatched the phone away and hid it behind her back. "Don’t!"

Seth Quinn’s expression fell, and he looked at her with an aggrieved expression. "Don’t you want to be with me? Are you really in that much of a hurry to leave? We’ve barely had any time together since we got married,

and now that we’ve finally had a few days to ourselves, you have to go back. It’ll be another month before filming is done. I’ll miss you so much. Won’t you miss me? What will you do when you miss me?"

His last question made Clara Grant laugh. She wrapped her arms around his neck and said in a sweet, coaxing tone, "When I miss you, you can come visit me on set. And if I have time, I can come back to see you.

Seth, maybe it’s like you said. You’re not afraid of burning money, and you have more than you can spend. But I have a responsibility. Since I’m part of this film, I really hope we can finish shooting it soon so it can be released as early as possible.

This is my first movie. I’m dying to know if the audience will approve of my acting, to see if they’ll accept the character I’m playing!"
