Chapter 558 - 555: But I Hope the Next Time We Meet, It Won’t Be by You Bumping into Me
As she spoke, the tea was ready. She poured a cup for Marcus Jarvis, placed it on the table, and said with a smile, "If you like it, I can pack some for you to take home."
"Well, thank you in advance." Marcus Jarvis casually draped his suit jacket over the sofa and sat down. "I didn’t realize Ms. Hayes also made her own ointment. You must have studied medicine."
"I’ve only learned the basics," Skylar Hayes said with a small smile. "Please, Mr. Jarvis, drink your tea."
...
After quickly finishing his tea, Marcus Jarvis glanced at his watch. He smiled at Skylar Hayes and said, "Ms. Hayes, the tea was excellent. Thank you. I should be going now."
With that, he stood up, and Skylar Hayes rose to her feet as well. As Marcus Jarvis got up, his wallet slipped from his pants pocket and fell onto the sofa, but neither of them noticed.
Skylar Hayes remembered the ointment. "Mr. Jarvis, please wait. I’ll go get it."
Marcus Jarvis picked up his jacket and walked over to the entryway to wait.
Skylar Hayes quickly returned and handed him a small jar of ointment.
Marcus Jarvis took it, glancing at it in his hand before giving her a little wave with it. "Thank you... If we have the chance to meet again, I’m sure we could be good friends."
"Then we’ll have to see if fate brings us together." ’Actually, Marcus Jarvis seems like a really nice person. Being friends with him wouldn’t be so bad.’
Marcus Jarvis smiled as well, raising an eyebrow. "But I hope that the next time we meet, it won’t be because you’ve run into me."
His humor made Skylar Hayes laugh out loud. "I certainly hope not, either."
After seeing Marcus Jarvis out the door, Skylar Hayes checked the time. It was still early, and Clara hadn’t called yet, but she went straight to the kitchen to start preparing dinner anyway.
...
In the private lounge of the president’s office at Aegis Media, Clara Grant straightened her clothes, her face flushed red. She had come to give Seth Quinn a surprise, yes, but she hadn’t expected him to be so surprised that he’d take her right then and there!
Seth Quinn was still lounging on the bed, a faint, satisfied smile on his face as he watched her hurriedly straighten her clothes.
Once Clara Grant was decent, she turned to see him still lying there, watching her with a smile. She shot him a glare and chided, "Aren’t you going to get up? What if someone comes in?"
"Relax. No one would dare come in without knocking," Seth Quinn said, reaching out to pull her into an embrace, but Clara Grant stood up and dodged him.
"Don’t you have a lot of work to do? You’ve been held up for long enough." Another blush crept up Clara Grant’s cheeks.
Seth Quinn gazed at her flushed, lovely face and a smirk played on his lips. "Are you saying I took too long?"
Clara Grant: ...
She didn’t want to get into a war of words with him, so she feigned ignorance, her eyes darting everywhere but at him.
Seth Quinn stopped teasing her, getting up to straighten his own clothes. Then, the two of them walked out of the lounge.
As soon as they left the lounge, Clara Grant suddenly remembered something. "Are you free tonight?" she asked. "I told Mom we’d come over for dinner."
"Of course, Clara. Make yourself comfortable while I wrap this up, and then we can leave. By the way, would you like anything to drink? I can have my secretary bring you something."
"No, thanks. I’m not thirsty right now." Clara Grant shook her head and sat down on the visitors’ sofa. Seth Quinn nodded and went back to his work.
