Chapter 555 - 552: Are You Satisfied, Madam?
"Clever. You got it right," Clara Grant said, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
"Well then, my lady, as for the results of the test... are you satisfied?" Seth Quinn asked, playing along as he suppressed a smile.
"Hmm, I’m satisfied enough, I guess," Clara Grant said, lifting her chin and pouting her lips without realizing it.
Her unintentional gesture made Seth Quinn’s heart clench, and he couldn’t help but swallow hard.
He sighed and whispered, "Silly girl, you don’t need to test me. Everything I said is true. In my heart, nothing is more important than you!"
’How could she not know? When they were in danger, he had thrown himself forward to save her without any regard for his own safety. Of course she was the most important thing to him.’
She had only said those things on the phone earlier because of a sudden, girlish whim.
She opened her mouth to say, "I kno—"
But she swallowed the last syllable as Seth Quinn’s lips captured hers.
They had only been apart for a few days, but for a couple so passionately in love, for whom a day apart felt like an eternity, it had been torture.
Seth Quinn’s lips pressed firmly against hers. Clara Grant had missed him too, of course. Though they had been intimate many times, she still felt a little shy.
But despite her shyness, she slowly closed her eyes, enjoying and returning his kiss.
After just a moment, Seth Quinn couldn’t hold back any longer, his hands beginning to wander restlessly over her body.
Clara Grant’s eyes flew open, and she tried to stop his advances. "Don’t... this is the office. Someone could walk in..."
Seth Quinn simply let her go. Before she could react, he swept her up into his arms. A wave of dizziness washed over Clara Grant, and she instinctively hooked her arms around his neck.
"Don’t you remember there’s a lounge in here?" Seth Quinn panted, lowering his head to kiss her again as he strode toward it.
Clara Grant didn’t have time to resist before he had her pinned beneath him and began to ravenously devour her...
...
Since her daughter and son-in-law might be coming home for dinner, Skylar Hayes left the house shortly after Clara Grant did. She went to the supermarket to buy groceries and cook them a delicious meal.
She bought a bag full of groceries—all of Clara Grant and Seth Quinn’s favorite foods—paid at the checkout, and headed for the exit.
Just as she walked out the supermarket’s main doors and down the steps, she glanced up and saw a familiar figure flash past her.
Skylar Hayes froze for two seconds before snapping back to reality and breaking into a run to give chase.
In the two seconds she’d been frozen, the figure had already gotten a good distance away.
Skylar Hayes trembled all over, her steps panicked as she chased after the figure.
’It was him. There was no mistake. The man who had kidnapped and violated her all those years ago had appeared before her once again.’
’This time, I have to catch him!’
Skylar Hayes was so focused on the man’s retreating back that she didn’t notice a tall man walking toward her. Lost in the chase, she crashed right into him.
Although they had only collided shoulder-to-shoulder, the man was tall and sturdy. Skylar Hayes lost her balance and stumbled to the ground.
The bag she was carrying fell with her, its contents scattering across the pavement.
Marcus Jarvis had just parked his car and was walking toward the supermarket when he was suddenly bumped into. He paused for a moment in surprise, then quickly helped Skylar Hayes up from the ground.
Skylar Hayes struggled back to her feet, but when she looked ahead again, there was no sign of the man.
’He got away again!’
Skylar Hayes’s legs went weak, and she nearly collapsed again. Fortunately, Marcus Jarvis was quick to steady her once more.
