Chapter 533 - 530: You Should Apologize to Her
Holly Summers had been silent, but she couldn’t resist chiming in now. "You and I don’t have any beef, but you have a grudge against Clara. You’re only making trouble for me because we’re good friends."
"Holly Summers, don’t make baseless accusations. When have you ever seen me hold a grudge against Clara?"
"Baseless? Heh. Who on the whole film set doesn’t know that you li—" Holly Summers cut herself off. Although Faye Jennings’s crush on President Quinn was an open secret, it was still a secret.
’Even though Faye Jennings has always hinted that her relationship with President Quinn is special, she’s never actually come out and said she likes him. If I expose it now, what if she uses it as an excuse to sabotage Clara and President Quinn’s relationship?’
’Forget it. I won’t stoop to her level.’
With that thought, Holly Summers lowered her head, scuffed her foot on the ground, and pouted, "It’s nothing."
Seeing her stop mid-sentence, Chase Childs didn’t press the matter. He simply turned to Faye Jennings and said sternly, "Miss Jennings, you’ve been with the company for a while. You should be well aware that what President Quinn hates most is people pulling schemes right under his nose, and he detests it when subordinates plot against each other and stir up trouble. So, Miss Jennings, I’d advise you to watch your step."
Faye Jennings’s face flushed, then paled at his words, but she forced a calm and magnanimous front. "Fine. I won’t press the issue today. We have to be back on set this afternoon, so I’ll be going."
With that, she turned to leave.
But Chase Childs stopped her. "Miss Jennings, this isn’t about whether or not *you* choose to press the issue. Whether it was a misunderstanding or you deliberately framed Holly Summers, you owe her an apology, don’t you?"
Faye Jennings was no longer just confused; she was utterly shocked.
’After all, Chase Childs, this perpetual poker-faced iceberg, had never meddled in this kind of trivial business before. What was with him today?’
’A crush on Holly Summers? Impossible! He was one of the two men in the company famously known for being completely clueless about romance. The other one used to be Seth Quinn, but now that Seth has a woman, Chase is the only one left.’
’How could a man so clueless about romance suddenly fall for a woman—and an unremarkable one like Holly Summers at that?!’
’So was he just meddling to kill time because he was bored? Then my luck is just terrible. Of all people, why did it have to be him?’
’But apologize to Holly Summers? Impossible! How could she swallow her pride like that? Besides, she had no reason to!’
’Holly Summers is just a minor actress with no connections or power. So what if I did hit her? And I didn’t even lay a hand on her in the first place!’
"Assistant Childs, I didn’t hit her. Why should I apologize?" She was defiant. ’She couldn’t touch Clara Grant, but was she now unable to even handle Holly Summers?’ "Besides," she said aloud, "why don’t you ask her if she needs an apology from me?"
Holly Summers, however, offered her no quarter. She raised an eyebrow and said with a smirk, "Of course I do!"
"You!" Faye Jennings grew indignant. With a flick of her wrist, she declared, "I will not apologize!"
She turned to leave again, but Chase Childs spoke once more, his voice unhurried. "If Miss Jennings insists on not apologizing, then we’ll just have to pay a visit to President Quinn."
Faye Jennings froze again, biting her lower lip hard.
’If they went to see Seth Quinn, Chase Childs would report exactly what he saw. It was obvious who Seth would believe between the two of them. If that happened, he would only despise her more.’
’So, she couldn’t go!’
