A Night of Desire

Clara thought for a moment and felt he had a point. She hadn’t even graduated from university; it was too early to be thinking about having a baby. Besides, liking kids was one thing, but actually being a mother was something else entirely. She had no idea if she was even ready for that.

So, she shook her head, her voice hesitant. "I don’t think so..."

The final note of uncertainty was a silent addition in her heart.

"If you don’t want to, I’ll wear a condom from now on," Seth said, giving her a peck on the lips.

Clara nodded.

"By the way, now that the news of our marriage is out, have you thought about moving into the Quinn family home?" Seth asked, seemingly offhand, as he toyed with her hand.

In fact, one of the Quinn Family rules stated that after marrying into the family, the daughter-in-law must move into the main family residence.

Previously, because Clara was filming a show, Seth’s parents hadn’t said anything. But now that she was done, they would surely insist that the couple move into the main residence right away.

But he was afraid Clara wouldn’t be comfortable living with a large family, which was why he was testing the waters. If she didn’t want to, he would have to find a way to placate his parents.

Clara had never really considered moving into the Quinn family home. She and Seth had always had a world of their own, and she’d completely forgotten about his parents—her parents-in-law.

It was only natural to move in with your in-laws after marriage, but she was afraid. The Quinns were such a powerful and prominent family; they must have countless rules and traditions. What if she did something wrong? Would she make her parents-in-law angry?

Especially since her mother-in-law, Sienna Hale, wasn’t very fond of her to begin with.

Seeing her silence, Seth knew she must have her reservations. He continued, "To be honest, I like living here with you. It’s a world for just the two of us, with no interruptions. How about we stay here a while longer before moving to the main residence?"

But Clara shook her head. "It’s fine, let’s just move to the main residence. Since I married you, I should fulfill my duties as a daughter-in-law to your parents. We have to move in sooner or later anyway, right?"

"Okay, then. Should we start moving tomorrow?"

Clara nodded. "Mhm."

After a pause, she added, "Oh, right. The semester’s started, so I should go to class tomorrow."

"I’ll take you to school tomorrow, then."

"Okay!" Clara didn’t refuse. He had made such a huge deal announcing their marriage; the whole world knew anyway. There was no need for her to be secretive about it anymore.

’Besides, I don’t want to hide it anymore!’

Speaking of school, her thoughts naturally drifted to Sarah Shelby. The idea that she would get to see Sarah at school every day made her happy, and she snuggled into Seth’s arms. "I haven’t seen Sarah in so long. It’ll be great to see her at school tomorrow."

Hearing her mention Sarah Shelby, Seth’s body tensed for an instant. ’That incident from a year ago... Clara couldn’t possibly know about it, right?’

Early the next morning, Seth personally drove Clara to school.

Whether it was intentional or not, Seth, who usually avoided flashy cars, had chosen a ridiculously eye-catching sports car today.

When the car pulled up to the school gate, it immediately drew the gazes of all the students and teachers coming and going.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Clara saw how many people were staring at them and, for a moment, didn’t want to get out of the car.

Bracing herself, she got out and endured the crowd’s stares. She leaned down to the car window and said to Seth, "I’m heading in," then turned and walked onto campus.

She had only taken a few steps when Seth’s voice called out from behind her, "Honey—"
