Chapter 100

PENN www.xbiquge.cc, the fastest updated Noble Marriage [Anna] latest chapter!    This is a burglar-proof chapter Anna knew after reading it that she had to ask someone for some help, and apparently, her husband was the best person to ask.

"Alexei, I received an invitation from my cousin's wife, Patsy, and I'm going to her afternoon tea party the day after tomorrow."

"That's very nice. We're back in Petersburg now, and you're going to start a new social life in Petersburg." Karenin said, seemingly unaware that his wife was hinting at him.

Anna dropped the hint and instead said directly, "I need your help."

Karenin raised his eyes, slightly puzzled.

"You know, I had an illness, I haven't been out much since then, my social life has stopped for a while, and right now I'm in Petersburg instead of Moscow." Anna continued after a pause, "I'm afraid I won't be able to finish this tea party very well."

Karenin stopped completely where he would have been cutting bacon.

Tea parties between women were not an area in which he was very good at, in fact, it was not an area in which he was willing to be patient.

"You'll have to help me, I thought maybe you could tell me about these 'relationships' when you get home today." Anna emphasized the word "relationships," which was necessary in their circle to keep track of everyone's circle of information.

When she finished, she looked at the other woman with those big eyes, like some kind of small animal.

"I'll be back on time." Karenin said.

Anna smiled, took a quick bite of her waffle, then winked at her husband and thanked him again.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Karenin did return from the department on time.

There were no guests waiting to be received in his visitor's study, where the sofa would not normally have been vacant, and he had instructed Kearney when he left in the morning that he would not see any guests today.

His faithful old butler, despite some doubts, but did not ask more questions, but only truthfully fulfilled his own husband's instructions.

So, too late to change a suit, Karenin went straight to Anna's bedroom, or should I say, their bedroom, although he still kept his own, but he had almost completely chilled out on his big bed that wouldn't be very soft for some time now.

"Come into my study, Anna." Karenin said.

He was still wearing his civilian uniform with the medals on it, perhaps he needed to receive some diplomatic emissary in the department today.

Karenin had received several very distinguished medals, but he did not wear them every day, and usually used them only on important occasions. And it was surprising that he still came home on time today, just because he had promised to in the morning.

Anna couldn't help but smile, and with a leap of joy almost trotted over to Karenin's side, then took his hand for a moment, releasing it again before he could frown.

"You always do what you promise me, don't you?"

"If there are no surprises, yes."

Although not quite sure why his wife was asking the question, Karenin answered her truthfully, and then he received a kiss imprinted on the corner of his mouth.

"You look so good in your medals." She said with her eyes shining brightly.

Karenin looked at her for a moment, then gently moved away, seemingly, a little shy? Anna thought, also moving away to sneer, unaware that the person she had thought was being embarrassed was now looking at her again, taking in the way her eyebrows arched.

Karenin has two study rooms.

One is used to receive some guests, and one is dedicated to reading.

The study for guests has more luxurious sofas and is more oriented towards conversation. His own study for reading is very simple, even slightly monotonous.

Two rows of large bookshelves, occupying almost two walls, and a desk made of rosewood by the window, simply lacquered, from the signs of wear on the edges, it seems to have been used for some years, you can see that the owner loved it.

A chair, not even a cushion on it, looks four square, sitting on it is definitely not easy to doze off. The whole study is just like the meaning of its birth, just a place to read books.

Although there is plenty of sunshine, but there is nothing soft. Except Karenin a round tea cup, it is like the only thing in this place without angles, originally ordinary, but now seems to be some valuable up.

"There's only one chair." Anna pointed out.

Realizing that he had not thought it through, Karenin intended to ring for the servant to send a chair, but Anna stopped him.

"I have a soft and peaceful stool in my bedroom." She said, and without waiting for Karenin to say anything, she ran out and in no time brought over a stool with a full and fluffy looking cushion.

So, after the teacup in this room, there is another thing without angles, and also comes with fluffy skills.

Karenin to this somewhat contrary to the presence of the final said nothing, he acquiesced to all this. And in the days that followed, he often watched his wife move in and out of his world, filling it with more round, soft things that were only angular.

According to Karenin's habit, his guests always sat across from him, either in uniform or in formal dress, and when talking with them, Karenin had become accustomed to start figuring out the meaning of the next sentence before the last one was finished.

But now, his cold chair next to a too soft and stool, it is pink, and ribbons made of lace, like, the kind of finger on it, no matter where it is placed, will be "thud" and gently bounce.

He sat down and found that for a moment, he was a little confused about what tone to use to talk to the person next to him.

She wore a white dress, the collar position is not like the general female as □ □ out, but closed, like the petals of the blue carpets like layers, a blue brooch clasped in the middle. The neck is slender, the skin is delicate, and like a calla lily, the slender pistil white heart innocently looking up towards the blue sky.

And looking upward, her round gray eyes were like the color of the furry necks of the tile gray doves in the square, very bright and soft.

She pressed herself so closely, her eyes lingering on the form he had just spread out, and then let out a soft sigh of admiration, as if it were not just a form, but something great.

"You're really wonderful, Alexei, so well done, it's just so easy to see!" Anna exclaimed with heartfelt admiration.

Karenin's handwriting had always been the kind she liked, not frivolous or raw, his logical mind was very strong, the lineage of relationships listed was concise and clear, and the focus was very prominent.

"It's nothing." Karenin said, his tone still seeming smooth, but with some ripples inside.

He began to tell Anna, in his even voice, about the major circles of Petersburg high society.

As a dignified noblewoman, the circles that his wife would have to come into contact with in Petersburg Kalenin divided them into three broad categories.

The first is the circle that Anna must later relate to and that he brings to her, that contains his fellow officers and subordinates. But not the main task today, and, in this circle, Karenin himself would play a leading role.

The second is the circle headed by Countess Lidia, which carries a political veneer, albeit flashy, but is a sort of hidden political channel, something that Karenin will slowly tell his wife about later.

The third circle is the one Anna will meet tomorrow, headed by the Duchess of Perthessi. He was the type of circle Kalenin disliked the most, yet could not avoid completely.

"Your cousin's wife, Patsy, is an excellent leader of this circle, she has completely grasped the core meaning of the circle and has never strayed from it since the beginning." Karenin said in a flat tone.

Although most people wouldn't think otherwise upon hearing such an assessment, Anna could hear that Karenin didn't like Patsy very much.

"You don't like Patsy?"

Karenin gave her a look and said, "If someone else had asked me that, I would have shied away from actually answering my personal preference, or, I would have let you come up with the answer you wanted on your own. But I said I would always be honest with you, so I regret to have to tell you, Anna, that I do not like this lady."

Anna did not have much of a picture of Patsy, remembering only that it was a beauty, and she was all the more curious as to why Karenin did not like Patsy.

"I would not presume to speak of the rights and wrongs of others, Anna. A man should be even less inclined to talk about a woman, regardless of her status." Karenin spoke in a cold language, which Anna knew meant that he was not willing to talk about it for the time being.

She didn't look any deeper, but made a quiet mental note that she would have to find out for herself tomorrow.

After making up her mind, she raised her eyes to peek at her husband again and smiled when she saw his lips pursed in displeasure.

Drawing out that hint of jealousy, she moved over and kissed the corner of her partner's mouth again, then lifted her hands and gently pressed down on the corner of Karenin's mouth, revealing a small, raw curvature.

"Who is that in front of you now?" She asked.

Karenin raised his right hand, pressed Anna's wrist, gave her a final kiss on the knuckle of her thumb, gazed at her with both eyes, and replied calmly, "You."

Anna giggled.

Later she recalled the events of that day, and then understood one thing. She thought she was a tolerant and generous person, but in fact, if it was something related to Karenin, she was also the most ordinary person, with such and such shortcomings, with a small jealousy.
