On this day, every household was in a festive mood.

When she got up in the morning, Anna heard Sarah, the cook, say that it might snow in the evening.

"It will be fun if it snows."

This year, Russia was still warm, and the first snow was late.

Anna had always loved winter, even though she had to dress up, but living in the south, snow was always a luxury.

"Snow is no fun, it freezes a lot of crops." Sasha muttered, and Anna walked away, no longer saying such things.

"I seem to have said the wrong thing. Maybe I should wait until spring to walk in the fields sometime." Anna said to Karenin, who was reading the morning paper, waiting for breakfast.

"If you want, I remember that your brother Sikhova knows a man who has quite a lot of land in the country."

"Now promise me for next year!" Anna said with a smile.

Karenin looked up at her and said, "It's nothing, in the beginning of spring I used to go to a spa in Germany for a while to recuperate, we can come back a few days earlier."

"A trip, a few months away, now that you say it, I'll start looking forward to it right away."

"Can't say it's a trip."

"Did Glachov say you were not well?" Anna asked a little nervously. She walked up to Karenin with some worried eyes.

Karenin's expression softened and said, "Don't worry, it's just a routine checkup."

"I'm not in my twenties anymore, and Glachov said that more hot springs would be good for my legs."

Anna touched her knee, then tilted her head and said, "You mustn't be old. But he's right, it never hurts to take care of your health."

Seeing that Anna was convinced, Karenin stopped looking at her and returned his gaze to the official newspaper in the courthouse.

What he didn't know was that what had just happened reminded Anna.

"I'll prepare dinner with Sasha, turkey cooking, I'll learn it from her." Anna smiled at Karenin as she reported on her day's work.

"If you think that's fun."

"Oh, of course, Alexei, cooking is fun, too."

Hearing Anna's reply, Karenin said no more, although in his vast experience there were not many noblewomen to be found who loved to go to the kitchen to cook turkey, but, all in all, it was not a big deal.

After Karenin left, Anna wore a more durable dress, she went into the kitchen and helped Sasha prepare the ingredients for dinner.

The lunch will be a little easier, after all, the grand finale of the day is the turkey on the table.

As Sasha tied up the turkey's wings and legs with thin string, Anna smacked her lips, "Oh, poor turkey."

She reached out and poked the fat, honey-smeared turkey, and Annuschka pursed her lips as the cook rolled up her sleeves to show they were going to have a field day.

At noon, Karenin returned and they ate a relatively simple lunch together.

Except for Karenin's day off, Anna had never enjoyed lunch with Karenin on a day like this. And perhaps because of the festive atmosphere, Karenin looked a little more talkative than usual.

As they were eating, it didn't take long for the concierge Kabydonecki to come over and tell Anna that it was snowing outside.

"I want to go and see." Anna said, but the person was already up.

Usually at dinner, they would not leave the table suddenly, that is not appropriate, but at the moment the urgent feeling for snow, Anna can not bother with the etiquette.

She went to the floor-to-ceiling window and saw the snowflakes flying outside through the glass.

Anna lightly turned her body and walked over to Karenin's side, smiling brightly with her eyes: "It looks like there will be snow soon."

Karenin did not react much.

"There will be lots and lots of snow, oh." Anna repeated again, this time receiving a somewhat troubled look from Karenin.

"And then what?"

Anna's eyes widened and finally lowered her head with a sigh.

"Well, forget about it for now, we'll talk about it when there's snow." She finished and sat back in her chair, continuing to enjoy her food and looking super happy.

Karenin still looked at his wife with some confusion for a while before resuming his meal at the end.

Mushrooms, food, doesn't smell good, energy.

Beef, food, energy.

Carrots, food, sweet taste, energy.

......

Why is she acting so happy because of the snow?

Explicit food, always less understandable wife, Karenin remained somewhat incomprehensible.

In the afternoon Kalenin stayed in his study to deal with some political matters. Perhaps ordinary officials could relax a bit on this day, but Karenin always had all sorts of things to do, and Anna had nothing to say about it, after all, if at some point Karenin chose to break up with his work, Anna would have to start getting anxious.

Perhaps she must suspect that her husband might have been abducted by aliens?

In any case, the couple had their own business.

"Madame, is this the piece?" Annuschka turned up what Anna wanted, it was inside Anna's dowry, the leather that Skeeva had given her, a golden brown fox skin that felt superb to the touch.

"Yes, this is it." Anna nodded happily, then she scribbled on top of the paper and then gave Annuschka a gesture, indicating that she needed to make it look like this.

"I've never seen anything like this before." Annuschka was a little surprised.

"In colder places, hunters like to use knee pads like this to ward off the cold." Anna said, before Annuschka could ask any further questions about the subject.

"This is beautiful, madam." Annuschka was fond of the style Anna had designed.

Anna handed things to Annuschka, and although she could design things, it was unlikely that you'd get her to pick up a needle and thread and still be able to dragonfly. Besides, Annuschka was so good at her craft that it would be a waste to leave such a ready-made craft unused.

But, she blinked and thought, maybe she could learn how to do it herself. After all, a gift made with her own hands is not the same as one made with the help of others.

By the time it was almost seven o'clock, there was a thick layer of snow.

Anna had dinner and dragged Karenin to the yard.

"Let's play in the snow!" Anna suggested.

Karenin frowned: "Anna, it's late, and it's too cold, you might get sick."

Karenin was always so pragmatic, as well as, somewhat uncomprehending.

So, when Karenin came to pull her, she expressed her refusal to get up.

"At least, build a snowman with me." She struggled.

So Karenin kept up that awkward motion, as if he was forcing a child away from her beloved toy.

Karenin glanced around quickly and then saw Sasha and the others in a circle, all averting their eyes unnaturally when they caught his gaze. Kolny unnaturally looked at the top of Sasha's head and spoke.

Karenin was silent for a moment, and then quickly looked up again, and the people led by Sasha looked at his wife with a kind of "poor mistress", and occasionally looked at him, and his eyes changed to "really cruel male master".

Karenin's move was too quick for the servants to withdraw their eyes, but in the end, they simply watched with interest, especially Sasha, who said in a doting tone, "Oh, sir, don't be so old-fashioned, I'll make you a hot pot of ginger tea."

"Oh dear."

Before Karenin could make any reaction, his wife was the first to get up.

Anna saw Sasha and the others, and she blushed, then stood up straight and said dryly to Karenin, "Let's go."

But to her surprise, Karenin said, "If you want, we can build a snowman."

Anna looked at the other woman in surprise.

Sasha had lit the candle on the ground so that more light could reach them. So Anna wasn't sure if that was light on Karenin's face or what.

"Come on, Anna." Karenin said, as he knelt down and began to form the snow into snowdrops, eventually rolling it larger.

It wasn't a technical task, although Karenin didn't do it often as a child, but it wasn't difficult. He made a snowman's body, next to get a snowman's head.

Kalenin piled the head of the snowman on top of the body.

Anna pounded some rocks and even a carrot out of nowhere.

"A snowman without a carrot nose is not like a snowman." Anna was shivering from the cold, but still smiled happily.

Karenin examined the snowman carefully, it was really ordinary, and he did not feel much fun until now.

He still doesn't quite understand why his wife likes this cold game.

However, looking at her somewhat red cheeks from the cold and her happy smile, Karenin thought that maybe there was nothing interesting about building a snowman per se, but there was always a little bit of an interesting part.

They reentered the hall and started drinking.

Anna poured a glass for Karenin and half a glass for herself, and as they drank and took advantage of the wine, someone sang a song, and Karenin looked over and it was the concierge Kabedonecki.

The house was buzzing with activity, he sipped his wine, looked at his wife's flowery smile, and finally he smiled softly and drank the glass when no one was looking.

When he put the glass down, he saw his wife looking at him with a bright look in her eyes.

Karenin slowly reached under the table and took the small hand, then once again saw his wife's shy smile and felt the other man's fingers snap back.

"That's my Christmas present to you, Alexei." His wife said so, smiling a little slyly.

Karenin felt a drunkenness steaming through his body, so hazy that even his wife's face looked like it was shining with bright stars.

He nodded slightly and said, "I like this gift."

"You're drunk, Alexei." His wife's sweet, mushy voice rang in his ears.

Karenin said calmly: "I'm not drunk." Of course he wasn't drunk, the world just disappeared all at once, except for the appearance of his wife.

It was a good Christmas Eve, he thought, and put the memory into his heart, properly stored.

The next day, Karenin found yet another gift belonging to him under the Christmas tree, a hand-knitted scarf in navy blue with his initials at the end, woven in silvery grey silk thread. There was also a pair of knee pads, of fur material, and all three gifts seemed to adhere to one concept.

The snowman in the yard was only discovered during the day, it was blocking the doorway somewhat abruptly, but no one could bear to move it away, after all, their own Mr. But early in the morning found this not very decent thing, but he said nothing, just acquiesced to its existence.

It's Christmas and everyone needs a break.

It's Christmas, so all the unreasonable actions of their gentleman are justified, including still wearing a scarf at home.

Of course, after all, it is Christmas, isn't it? As for all the trouble this scarf has caused, that's all for tomorrow.

"Andre."

Andrei acted, albeit with some impatience, without staring at the macarons with boredom anymore, but he said, "Do you mind if I go to my room for a while? Aunt Anna."

The boy's big light blue eyes looked at Anna with a childish and pleading gaze, and Anna was sure that more than the average person could not refuse the boy's request.

"No, I don't really mind." Anna finished looking at the other man with some curiosity.

After Andrei got permission, he just made a face at his mother that he would go first and left.
