Chapter 2056 - 488: Free and Unfettered Life, Tranquil Years (Part 5)
Yun Ya thought of how he seemed like he wanted to say something but stopped himself when he left this morning, her heart tightened involuntarily. Although she appeared calm on the surface, she was worried inside.
Fortunately, Yan Song returned in the evening. Yun Ya couldn’t hold out and had already fallen asleep. When Yan Song walked in, he saw Yun Ya asleep by the edge of the bed, not even having taken off her shoes—it was clear she was waiting for him.
Yan Song’s heart stirred. He walked quickly over to lay her properly on the bed, bending down to take off her shoes. Yun Ya opened her sleepy eyes and murmured, "Brother Yan...."
Yan Song took off her coat and softly said, "Sleep now."
He gently patted her back.
Yun Ya suddenly grabbed his clothes and murmured, "Why did you come back so late today? Did something bad happen?"
Yan Song kissed her forehead, his gentle voice instantly soothing the unease and restlessness in her heart.
"It’s nothing, sleep well. I’m here with you."
Yun Ya couldn’t resist the overwhelming sleepiness and soon drifted into dreams.
Yan Song held her, his eyes gazing at the endless dark night outside, his thin lips tightly pressed, and his dark eyes deep.
For a long time, a low voice scattered into the night.
"Just hold on a little longer, it will be over soon."
On the sixth night, Yun Ya suddenly felt the ground shake violently. She woke up in alarm from her dream, but the room lacked a familiar figure. The shaking grew stronger, and Yun Ya’s heart plummeted. She ran out of bed barefoot, her face pale and panicked: "Brother Yan...."
The ground was shaking beneath, and everything was spinning. Yun Ya staggered, leaning against the wall, gritting her teeth—she absolutely couldn’t fall...
But inside, she was shocked and flustered. What on earth was happening? Brother Yan, where are you?
Her eyes were lost and helpless, but her steps running outside didn’t stop at all.
When she reached the door, she tripped over the threshold, about to fall forward. In despair, Yun Ya closed her eyes, but suddenly she fell into a cool yet firm embrace. The familiar scent on the person instantly soothed her inner panic and apprehension.
She clutched tightly at his chest, her whole body trembling. The broad, warm hand gently patted her back, bringing a calming steadiness, gradually easing Yun Ya’s emotion.
It was only then that Yun Ya felt the chest beneath her cheek rise and fall dramatically, the hot breath spilling over her ears. Yun Ya raised her head to see the sweat rolling down his forehead and was slightly stunned.
He was covered in dust, seeming to have rushed back urgently. Every drop of glistening sweat on his forehead bore witness to his anxiety.
"Brother Yan, where did you go?" she asked with a delicately displeased tone.
Yan Song sighed with relief, carrying her inside. He said in a low voice, "I was in the restroom."
Yun Ya knew he was lying but didn’t expose it, holding onto him tightly, feeling his burning heartbeat. It was only then her restless heart slowly calmed down.
"Was there an earthquake just now? I woke up and didn’t see you; I was scared to death."
Yan Song sighed softly: "It’s fine, it’s all over now."
His broad hand gently patted her back: "Sleep, nothing will happen anymore. We can go back early tomorrow."
Yun Ya’s sleepiness dissipated halfway, looking at him with surprise: "Really? Can we go back tomorrow?" No matter how steady her disposition, she was just a girl, and in front of her beloved, she usually didn’t hide.
Yan Song smiled, patting her head: "Yes, tomorrow morning, we’ll go back."
Yun Ya first felt joy, then her face fell, "Actually, it’s quite peaceful here. Time flows quietly, and staying with you without any distractions feels like there’s only the two of us in this world." Leaving, it certainly wouldn’t be this satisfying.
Yan Song pursed his lips and said in a low voice, "Yun Ya, there’s something I need to tell you."
Yun Ya raised her eyebrows and looked at him: "Go ahead."
Yan Song looked at her quietly, silent for a moment, then explained Zhuang Fanxing’s condition and Zhuang Xiyue’s wish for her to operate on Zhuang Fanxing. He ended with: "You’re not in good health; I don’t want you to tire yourself. You probably know some excellent doctors, you can recommend them...."
Yun Ya suddenly raised her hand to cover his mouth, stopping the words that followed. She shook her head: "Brother Yan, I know you’re worried about me, but that’s Aunt, as long as it can make Aunt feel better, make Aunt Zhuang feel at ease, make Brother Yan’s brow unfurrowed, I’m willing to do anything."
So this was what he had been hiding from her. The fleeting image of that calm and elegant figure flashed in her mind, leaving her heart with a bit of reluctance and also a sense of sympathy.
