Being able to eat is already a good thing.

Zhuang Xiyue had originally been keeping watch in the ward, but the pressure coming off her own son was so low and frightening that she really couldn’t take it anymore and slipped out. Fortunately, this whole floor was VIP, so it was very quiet to begin with. Taking Zhuang Xiyue’s identity into consideration, Liang Wenwan had directly booked the entire floor, and even had Zhuang Fanxing’s ward moved over, right next to Yun Ya’s room.

After watching her older sister come out, Zhuang Xiyue waited at the ward door for a while. Hearing the rustling voices inside and realizing Yun Ya had woken up, she lifted the thermal container with the carefully prepared food, ready to knock. But when she thought of last night, how she had barged in and ruined the moment, her raised hand paused. She thought about giving the two of them more time alone, yet she was also afraid Yun Ya would be hungry after waking up. Just as she was struggling with the decision, the ward door suddenly opened from the inside.

Yan Song’s tall figure stood in the doorway.

"Why are you just standing in the doorway? Showing off how tall you are?" Zhuang Xiyue pushed him aside and walked in, her tone rather displeased. She was very good at holding grudges, and she still remembered the threats this son of hers had made to her that morning.

Seeing Yun Ya, Zhuang Xiyue immediately put on a smiling face: "Yun Ya, you’re awake. Do you feel any better?"

Yun Ya’s face was still a bit pale, but her complexion was much improved. At those words she smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Aunt Zhuang. I’m already much better."

"The doctor said you have acute gastroenteritis, so there are lots of things you can’t eat. For the sake of your health, you can only have some liquid food for now. Auntie specially made bird’s nest porridge for you. Hurry and drink it while it’s hot."

Zhuang Xiyue opened the thermal container, poured the bird’s nest porridge into a small bowl, and was just about to lift the bowl to feed Yun Ya when, in the blink of an eye, a large hand snatched it away.

Zhuang Xiyue stared blankly at the man across from her, who unhurriedly sat down, stole her porridge and did it all without even flushing or skipping a beat. He scooped up a spoonful, blew on it near his lips, then brought it to Yun Ya’s mouth, his voice so gentle it could drown a person.

"Be good, open your mouth."

Yun Ya obediently opened her mouth.

You little brat, you’re pretty good at offering Buddha flowers you took from someone else, huh. Your skin is getting thicker and thicker.

Yun Ya turned her head with a smile and looked at Zhuang Xiyue. "Aunt Zhuang, the porridge tastes really good."

Zhuang Xiyue immediately beamed. "As long as you like it. I’ll make more for you tomorrow. You have to get better quickly. You don’t know how you scared Auntie to death this morning. Auntie even thought you were pregnant." As she spoke, she secretly watched Yun Ya’s expression. She wanted to sound out what Yun Ya’s attitude toward having children was, so she could be mentally prepared.

The hand Yun Ya had on the blanket suddenly tightened, her knuckles going white, but on her face she timely showed a shy little smile. "Aunt Zhuang, don’t tease me like that. Brother Yan and I have stopped at the bounds of propriety. How could we... how could we..." She seemed too embarrassed to go on, but the meaning behind her words was more than clear.

But thinking of last night... If she said this out loud, Aunt Zhuang probably wouldn’t believe it anyway...

Still, there was one thing she could be sure of: Aunt Zhuang was really looking forward to a grandchild. But she... Yun Ya’s heart clenched tight.

In the end, she was going to let Aunt Zhuang down.

Could it be that the two of them still haven’t...? Zhuang Xiyue looked at Yun Ya’s pure, delicately beautiful face, her brows tinged with a shy innocence that didn’t seem fake. It was the kind of innocence a girl untouched by such affairs would have. Then she looked at her son’s tense, handsome features; his pair of deep, cold eyes swept over, with a hint of warning hidden in their depths.

Zhuang Xiyue subconsciously shrank her neck, startled by that look from her son.

"I’m enough here with Yun Ya. Go keep your oldest sister company." Yan Song’s cool voice slowly sounded.

This was clearly an order to see her out.

Zhuang Xiyue glared at him. Yan Song had already turned his head away, carefully feeding Yun Ya the porridge.

"Fine then. If anything comes up, just come next door and call me." Zhuang Xiyue sighed, her heart a little sore. Her son had grown up, and now there was a more important woman in his life. Even his own mother had to move down the list.

There was a bit of melancholy, but no jealousy, because more than anyone, she hoped her son could be happy.

And Yun Ya was an excellent enough girl. Only she could be worthy of her son’s deep feelings.

The more Zhuang Xiyue thought about it, the more she smiled. Seeing this, Zhuang Fanxing couldn’t help asking curiously, "Ah Yue, what are you smiling about? If there’s something good, tell me so I can be happy too."

"Turns out I made a huge blunder." Zhuang Xiyue told her what had happened that morning, then lifted her brows and said, "That kid Ah Song even threatened me, said I’m not allowed to use children to put pressure on Yun Ya, otherwise he’ll never have kids in his life. Ah Song’s been stubborn since he was little. He’s never joked about anything he says. Looks like if I want to hold a grandchild, who knows how many years I’ll have to wait."
