Chapter 2098 - 499: Precaution and Sudden Incident (Part 2)
The Nianshan Estates area is quite large, filled with unfinished clay houses without roofs. Finding someone here will take some time.
"Where is Lady Liang?" Ruan Songxi’s voice was extremely cold.
Zhu Qing shivered but managed to speak with forced composure.
With their manpower and connections, finding a car is fairly easy, especially since the BOSS has connections on the police side; it’s extremely simple. However, what they didn’t expect was that Lady Liang’s car wasn’t registered at the police station, and the license plate was fake. It took them a whole five days to uncover the truth, going around a big loop. Zhu Qing was practically spitting blood when he found out the truth.
Once they found out it was Lady Liang’s car, everything became easier, "That day, Lady Liang, Miss Liang, and Second Miss Liang came together to the hospital to visit madam."
Ruan Songxi frowned; he remembered that much—he heard Liang Wenwan mention it over the phone. But since she brought her mother and sister to visit his mother, it was reasonable. He was in a critical meeting at the time and couldn’t leave, or else he definitely would have returned.
"That day, Lady Liang chatted with madam for a while before leaving. Miss Liang escorted Lady Liang and Second Miss Liang to the hospital entrance, personally watching them get into the car before returning to accompany madam. It was on the way back that Lady Liang’s car collided with him as he was running in a panic. When the driver got out to check, he jumped into the car and took Lady Liang hostage, then escaped."
As for what exactly happened inside the car, Zhu Qing wasn’t sure. It was his speculation, but it seemed about right, just short of verification.
"Lady Liang was thrown out of the car in a place without surveillance, and then the vehicle lost its trace until we found it in a wild forest on Jinshan West Road, with a corpse inside. I immediately reported it, and now the police are already at the scene. If my guess is correct, the body should be...."
At this point, Zhu Qing’s phone suddenly rang. He glanced apologetically at Ruan Songxi, stepped aside to answer the call, and upon return, said with a very grim face: "News just came from the police; the body has been confirmed to be Xiao Wu, Lady Liang’s driver."
Ruan Songxi’s expression turned even graver. A death meant it was a criminal case, and with the police now involved, things were spiraling out of control.
"We must find him before the police do." Ruan Songxi clenched his fists tightly, his gaze icy as he looked up at the red light above the operating room, coldly saying, "He’s a mad dog now; if he is to die, it should be by my hand."
Zhu Qing shivered involuntarily, straightening his posture, "Yes."
Thinking of something, he instinctively glanced toward Liang Wenwan and quietly asked, "Second Miss Liang has been missing for five days now. It’s likely she’s with that person, and we don’t know what crazy thing might be done. Should we inform Miss Liang?"
Ruan Songxi pressed his lips together, thought for a moment, and solemnly said, "Have someone monitor Lady Liang."
Zhu Qing asked in surprise, "Do you mean...?"
Ruan Songxi shot him a faint glance, his eyes full of cold indifference and mercilessness: "Preemptive measures."
Although he desperately wanted to catch him personally and bring him to justice, with his mother’s life uncertain, he had to ensure her safety above all else.
After Zhu Qing left, Ruan Songxi turned around and saw a tall, striking man standing in front of him. His handsome face was expressionless, and his dark eyes quietly watched him. If it weren’t for his extraordinarily strong mental fortitude, Ruan Songxi would surely have been scared to death.
"Cousin, if you have any difficulties, you can tell me, and we’ll solve them together."
Ruan Songxi sighed, patted his shoulder, and said earnestly, "Don’t worry, I can handle it. But you, you should think about how to win Yun Ya back. It’s a long road ahead...."
Yan Song furrowed his long eyebrows slightly, seeming to think about the conflict between him and Yun Ya, making him appear a little melancholic.
Ruan Songxi shook his head and smiled, but for some reason, his smile faded, as if something had occurred to him, making the sky outside the window look bleak and heavy in his heart.
"Song Xi, what’s wrong? Is something happening?" Liang Wenwan softly asked.
Ruan Songxi pressed his lips together, gave her a deep look, thought for a moment, and quietly said, "This may be sudden, but I think you have the right to know these things."
Hearing his heavy tone and serious expression, Liang Wenwan’s heart inexplicably tightened, she secretly clenched his hand, her throat a bit dry, and after a pause, she muttered, "What’s the matter?"
Ruan Songxi sighed and explained the situation, "It’s just my guess, maybe it’s just my one-sided speculation, but rest assured, I will do my utmost to rescue your sister."
To Ruan Songxi’s surprise, Liang Wenwan was neither shocked nor panicked, rather she appeared quite calm, "So that’s how it really is."
"Then who on earth kidnapped my sister?"
Ruan Songxi’s expression turned somewhat cold; he pressed his lips together, his gaze becoming obscure and inscrutable.
Liang Wenwan had been waiting for his answer, and seeing his troubled expression, a sudden flash of insight struck her mind, guessing roughly.
She clasped Ruan Songxi’s hand, feeling the coolness of his touch, passing the warmth of her palms to him, softly saying, "No matter what storm comes, we will face it together from now on."
Ruan Songxi stared deeply at her, nodding heavily.
"Alright."
Liang Wenwan suddenly smiled, tiptoeing to embrace him.
Ruan Songxi’s eyes momentarily went blank, a trace of warmth rising in them as he lifted his arms, embracing her soft body tighter and tighter.
From an angle Ruan Songxi couldn’t see, a fleeting cold glint passed in Liang Wenwan’s eyes.
It seems she guessed right; Liang Wenrou indeed went missing. She simply didn’t expect Xiao Wu to have met such a fate. Thinking of his unborn child and hopeful wife, she felt somewhat guilty and remorseful. If she had known, she wouldn’t have let him stay with the Liang family; how would she face his wife and unborn child?
Also, Lady Liang’s recent peculiarities now had a reason. If that person was indeed who she guessed, she suddenly remembered the day Lady Liang suddenly proposed to visit Lady Ruan in the hospital. After being refused, the violent and ruthless way she acted, a thread in her mind gradually connected.
Her heart suddenly felt a chill.
She clutched tightly onto the fabric of Ruan Songxi’s back, hoping against hope that it wasn’t as she feared.
Zhuang Xiyue looked up and saw the two embracing each other, pausing for a moment before suddenly smiling.
The tension in her heart inexplicably eased a lot.
Sister, do you see? Xi’er and Wan’er have a good relationship; you still have to wait to hold your grandchild, so don’t you dare leave us alone.
Amidst the anxious waiting of everyone, time felt unbearably long, driving one to madness. Yan Song kept his gaze fixed on the words "In Surgery" in red above the operating room doors, his eyes deep as abyss, maintaining one position for so long that his body became stiff.
Finally, the red light suddenly went out.
His heart gave a sudden jolt, and he instinctively straightened up.
Zhuang Xiyue sprang up from the chair with a "whoosh," so quickly that her body swayed, and Yan Ke hastily supported her: "Mom, be careful."
