Chapter 591: Material Gathering [II]
Both the tasks are equally taxing, but the twins are determined to do the tasks that would kickstart the method to awaken their mother again.
Once Adelaide has prepared, she decided to head to the mines and go there herself without the help of the others. Arthur has no idea about her plan as he is focused on his tasks with the farm.
Arthur looked around the farm’s empty land. Since the harvest not too long ago cleared out most of the planted crops, he can start planting again.
"Do you know how to do the basics, Arthur?" Bam asked, trying to gauge the knowledge Arthur has related to farming.
"To be honest, I have little to no idea about farming, Mr. Bam. I don’t want to lie on this and brag so I am telling the truth here."
Poe listening on the side nodded and smiled. "No need to worry, Arthur. Everyone started not knowing anything after all. At the very least, you are determined to learn this job. But be warned Arthur, it might be as gruelling as fighting monsters but it is also a job that requires effort, patience and knowledge."
"My wife is correct, Arthur. Your sister have some basic knowledge in farming but she also has a lot of things to learn. However, you have more things that you needed to learn compared to her, so you will need to begin to the very basic of farming. I hope you are prepared, as one tiny mistake will cause the sapling or seed you will be planting to wither and die, or just refuse to grow. Are you prepared to learn?" Bam put his hands on his waist, waiting for Arthur to respond.
"I will be in your care!" Arthur bowed before the couple.
"Good. First, let’s learn how the basics first. There are some things you need to remember when farming."
The couple began their lectures to Arthur. The basics of planting, what to do and what things he shouldn’t do. How overwatering a plant can cause the plant to rot, and low water can cause it to wither.
They also told Arthur how to handle the fertilizer that the Harvest Goddess provided to them, how he can automate the watering process, how to take care pests and weeds won’t hinder the growth of plants and many more.
Arthur patiently listened and nodded, mentally taking note on everything. He might not be as intelligent as his sister, but he isn’t someone who don’t understand things. It might take a bit of effort and a bit of experience to fully master everything, but Arthur definitely agreed.
Farming is not a joke.
Adding the heat in the sun, the rain that might pour down all of a sudden, and any other things like seasonal changes are things he needed to fully remember.
"I think I am getting the hang of it. Not much but I think I have grabbed the basics so far."
"Good to know. It might be hard right now as you are still learning, but that doesn’t mean you won’t learn. Just follow the basics and the rest will naturally come. And besides, you also have us to help out. Don’t be afraid to fail. Failing is part of the progress," Bam said, making Arthur feel a bit relieved.
"You said you needed to plant something to grow as an ingredient to something that you need to awaken Elaina right? We can help you plant and take care of it. That way, even if you are learning, you don’t accidentally cause issues in growing it. You will still help us, but we will supervise most of the time."
"I can do that. Should we begin?"
The family nodded. With the guidance of the Feys, Arthur successfully planted the plant that will grow the Heartroot Ginseng.
"If the records about it is true, Arthur needs to be regular and constantly shower it with love to successfully harvest it as Heartroot Ginseng, otherwise, you will only grow regular Ginseng at this point."
"I will keep that in mind."
After planting rhe Heartroot ginseng to begin growing it, the couple continue to help out Arthur to learn how to take care of the farm. The farming process, the seasonal crops and when the end of the season will arrive, the couple all imparted it to Arthur.
Arthur is not joking either when he said he will need to fully master the craft and to help out on the farm. He is fully comitted that he will become Elaina’s equal, or maybe even surpass his Mother.
Aside from the Heartroot Ginseng, the couple helped out Arthur to plant, fertilize the other crops. Since they have to literally help out Arthur to plant seeds and show him the ropes on the proper way. It is hard, but it is helping Arthur understood the effort expended.
By the time afternoon has finally arrived, Arthur has finally planted both cabbage, potato and a few parsnips and watered them.
Since Arthur is much slower in planting compared to Elaina who have already mastered planting seeds and saplings, they only managed to plant a little bit of the supposed crops that will be planted and the remaining stuff related to it will take a bit more time.
"There’s still a lot of seeds and farm plot I haven’t filled and planted..." Arthur looked disappointed.
"Don’t downplay yourself, young man. With how you managed to last from morning till afternoon just planting, and digging alongside with tilling the soil, you are doing great for a first timer. And besides, you don’t need to be sad that you didn’t plant the rest immediately," Poe praised Arthur for his efforts.
"Then how come Mother seems to be able to plant these areas fast? Am I just slow?"
Bam laughed by Arthur’s guess. "Hah, you? Slow? Not at all, Arthur. In fact, you did it in above normal speed. Boss is just abnormal. She has the speed and precise ways to plant things that even us are not sure whether she was a farmer before she came here in this land. Her techniques are quite hard to replicate that to help out with her, we just ended up becoming regular spirits that handle harvest and watering the plants just to stay relevant and to also have a bit of job, otherwise, Boss will be the one who will do everything without relying on us anymore," Bam chuckled.
"Is Mom really that good?" Arthur asked.
"She is. It was like she is trained to do it and perfect her craft while in here. It took some time for us to fully understand things, but she is someone who trully knows what she is doing without even us giving her instructions, she is the only one who doing things that multiple people required. With how the farm is quite big, it will take days and people to do the job, and yet Elaina is doing all of the work without asking much for issues. She can plant the whole farmland in just a few hours," Bam answered, nodding and remembering the previous deeds Elaina did.
Arthur’s admiration to his Mother has grown more after learning this piece of information from the Feys. Arthur have wondered before how the work of his Mother actually work considering that she barely does much and she only takes a few days doing farming before returning to either going to the Dungeon Farm, the mines or just focus most of her time fishing.
"So Mom, is actually that impressive?"
Bam and Poe smiled. "She is indeed great, but don’t feel sad that you can’t accomplish it just yet. Perhaps, you might be able to accomplish a few achievements that your Mother has yet to do?"
Arthur held the Almanac in his hands. Just a little tidbit from from her is enough for his adoration for his Mother grow.
"One day...I will also accomplish what she achieved. And so, I will need to work hard so that I can show her that I have a lot that she will not worry about me. Don’t worry, Mom. This farm, I will make sure it will remain working."

While Arthur had experienced the hardships of being a farmer, Adelaide is currently alone without any companion to back her up while fighting with the Golems.
Wielding the daggers that her Mother specifically asked the dwarves to make, she is trying her best to take down the golems. But there is a bit of a problem.
"Is it because I only have one eye? I am struggling to deal with the Golems right now," Adelaide muttered to herself.
Her accuracy has lowered significantly. Not only that, but it is also a bit hard to fully fight alone. With limited visibility due to her current condition, Adelaide is now having issues.
"I can’t give up here. If I am this powerless, how will I be able to help Mother wake up again?"
She remembered her helplessness after seeing her Mother get stabbed that day and how she couldn’t even do a thing after she was sent flying and one of her eyes are injured?
"I will get this done. Wait for me, Mother. I will show you that I will survive this and help you with your current state. I will survive and carry the ingredient. I promise that."
