Chapter 14: Master Bentham

The blacksmith shop is not in the castle, but close to the iron mine, where the Marshall Knight and Abel arrived in a carriage in twenty minutes.

Far away, the sound of a hammer smashing iron blocks was heard, looking down at the sound, a row of neat stone houses made of boulders, each with a giant chimney on the roof, while four of the six chimneys were smoking black.

Seeing these stone houses, Abel also sees the importance that the Marshall knights attach to the blacksmith shop, which is the same as the boulders used in the castle, all transported from distant mountains, not to mention their own value, and the cost of transportation alone is a huge expense.

“I have invited Master Bentham here from Toyotomi. I must respect him when I meet him. His craftsmanship is the best in Toyotomi. If his son is not older, he would like to give his son the shop in the city, and I will not return to Master Bentham.” The Knight Marshall told Abel carefully.

“Marshall, welcome. ”

Master Bentham, 2 meters tall, thick and with a big beard in his 50s, had greeted him when he saw the lord's carriage, simply lowering his head, even if it was a gift.

The Marshall Knight, who did not care, returned with a gift and said with a smile to Master Bentham: "I brought a young man with me today to be your apprentice. ”

Master Bentham turned his eyes to Abel and asked with some hesitation, "Are you talking about this child? Marshall, don't think I don't know the difference between a young man and a child. This little guy is a child, not over fourteen years old at best, and you know he's a strong apprentice on my side, not a minor child. ”

Thanks to the welcome of Master Bentham, many people from around the corner came.

“Master Bentham, this is my adopted son, Abel, a trainee knight who needs to learn from you about forging to strengthen your mastery of power. ”

“The idea was good, but no, I wouldn't take him.” Master Bentham said seriously: "Forging is a very hard thing for a young nobleman, and I don't believe a trainee knight as young as this can wield an iron hammer with strength. ”

“Master Bentham, I can suffer, and I have great power.” Abel stretched out his arm and made a strong gesture.

“Ha ha.” In front of Master Bentham, who was 2 meters tall and strong as a bear, Abel was only 1.6 meters tall, and after making a strong posture, the contrasting contrast made the spectators laugh.

“Abel, in two years, when you're fifteen, taller, stronger, I'll teach you if you want to learn forging.” Since Abel was adopted by the Knight of Marshall, Master Bentham promised Abel with great patience.

“How much strength does it take to meet your requirements?” Abel asked.

Looking at a stubborn Abel, Master Bentham said: "You come with me. ”

The Marshall Knight took Abel with him to the yard behind the stone house with Master Bentham.

The surrounding crowd also poured into the backyard.

“How many do you think this kid can lift? ”

“It would be nice to hold one up. ”

“He's a trainee knight, and I said he could lift the second. ”

“I bet he can hold one up. ”

“I bet I can lift two. ”

The voices of the people talked loudly.

Neither Knight Marshall nor Abel ignored these arguments, following Master Bentham to the backyard, and saw the two sides of the backyard, small to large, lined with iron, with an iron rod running in the middle.

The more Abel looks at it, the more familiar it is, the more coarse it is than the barbell he knows, and even if the cultural context is different, the understanding of how to better leverage power is similar.

“I built these iron locks to give the apprentice the strength to practice, from small to large, the smallest 50 pounds, the biggest 400 pounds, and an extra 50 pounds each from left to right.” Master Bentham pointed to a device called an iron lock on the ground and said.

“Garden, come here.” Master Bentham pointed to a man in the crowd who was almost as strong as the master himself.

“Master, I, I, I'm not lazy, I just poured the slag.” Garden explains somewhat stubbornly that his dark face is covered in sweat because of tension.

The people around them laughed, and everyone knew Gaden, the new apprentice of Master Bentham when he arrived at the castle, because Gaden's seriousness and hardship had made him a disciple of Master Bentham.

Apprentices and disciples are very different, and apprentices often have a lot of hard work to do, such as burning a lot of wood every day in a blacksmith's shop, which is the work of an apprentice in pieces, and this work is unpaid.

And the disciple is different, and the disciple can learn the master's craft preferentially, and receive a salary that matches his craft every month.

“Garden, I'm asking you to show Abel how to use the iron lock and show him the power he needs to be a blacksmith.” Master Bentham loves this disciple very much, honestly, hard and learned, and for the care of the Marshall knight, he also wants to be replaced by someone who can continue to serve the Marshall knight after his old age.

“Okay, Master.” Garden smiled heavily, rubbing his hands against his body, and walked up to the third iron lock and turned to Abel and said, "Abe, look at my movements. ”

Grabbing the two sides of the iron bar in the iron lock with each hand, he drank loudly. This 150-pound iron lock was pulled from the ground and lifted over his head easily. Gaden was not like a 150-pound iron lock, but like a straw.

“Okay.” Garden threw the iron lock on the floor in the good voices of the people beside him.

Garden looked up at Master Bentham and nodded to him, “Garden, go on. ”

Garden walked to the fourth iron lock, and this time the 200-pound iron lock was also lifted very easily by him. Then came the fifth iron lock, and this time Gaden obviously wasn't as easy as he started, but he raised his head.

At this point, everyone around them held their breath and watched Garden walk to the sixth iron lock, which is a 300 pound iron lock. Don't say it's an easy thing to lift.

This time, Gaden stood in front of the sixth iron lock, not immediately, but closed his eyes and adjusted his breath. After a while, Gaden, who opened his eyes, drank loudly, and 300 pounds of iron locked up off the ground, his face swelled red because of the force, and a blush burst on his neck.

As Garden eventually lifted the iron lock over his head, everyone around him cheered loudly and the scene was very lively.

“Garden, you've got a lot more strength, and in a few years you'll outrun me.” Master Bentham looked with pleasure at Garden and said.

“and you're far worse than me.” Garden was flattered by the master's blush and touched his head with embarrassment.

“Abel, look at you.” Master Bentham looked at Abel, thinking that Abel would retreat knowing that Abel had inexplicably gone to the third iron lock.

Abel had just seen Garden's demonstration, and to be honest, he still recognized Garden's power, but the weightlifting method, which had no skill whatsoever, made him unable to identify.

As a fitness coach, Barbell was one of the most played instruments he had ever had, and Gaden's power was 300 pounds. If Gaden knew how to lift the Earth's weight, he could lift 350 pounds, and Gaden had made a lot of mistakes in his posture, but his body was too strong to cause harm. That wrong weightlifting method, if used for a long time, would do more or less harm to his body.

“Is he going to lift 150 pounds of iron locks directly? ”

“Oh, my God, he can't lift it. ”

“Is he crazy? ”

Around him came the discourse again, and Abel couldn't help but frown, and he didn't like people looking at him like a circus.

“Get out of here.” Master Bentham saw that Abel didn't like the sights of others, thought he was embarrassed to be ugly in front of the crowd, so he went out and drove the sights away.

The crowd broke apart when Master Bentham was angry.

“Don't force yourself, just do your best.” Master Bentham persuaded Abel.
