Chapter 609: 2 Way Benefits
As Leo continued walking down the passage, he realised that Patric and his party had not yet been abducted and had actually passed through the Bright Blue Realm gate that was visible from Leo’s location.
Well, since people appear at the same place, it would indeed be wiser to abduct them inside the realm and transfer them within the 5-minute window.
It was because people who entered after the 5-minute window would find it suspicious if the party in front of them suddenly disappeared.
In no time, Leo crossed the realm gate and found himself in yet another tunnel constructed inside the realm.
"Ah! New people," a guard exclaimed as Leo and Lily appeared.
"This is a facility built to regulate the high influx and outflow of people through the realm gate. You can choose your direction after getting out through any of the 4 paths."
The guard gestured towards the 4-way intersection surrounding the realm gate.
Leo looked at the map in his hand and indeed found a tiny cross-shaped structure marking their place of appearance.
These demons are very sophisticated... Leo thought as he pretended to study the map carefully before choosing a random path to leave the structure.
When he stepped out of the dome-like building, he was greeted by a vast expanse of forest stretching into the distance. The path he emerged from had two more guards stationed at its entrance.
"Please clear the pathway so other people can go in and out," one of the guards instructed.
Leo promptly followed the order as any regular adventurer would. After walking a short distance away, he was greeted by the sight of many hunters, adventurers, and a few mercenaries sitting around, engaged in idle chatter.
Only a few of them were lined up to leave the realm, and here, aside from the initial 5 minutes, the waiting time was 10 minutes.
At that moment, Leo’s senses sharpened because he once again felt the familiar presence that had been trailing them from the very beginning.
He discreetly summoned Shyra once more and instructed her to look for Patric’s group while he himself opened the map to decide where to go.
After a few minutes of consideration, he chose a hunting ground suitable for a Mid 2-star individual.
Thankfully, Shyra found Patric’s group in time, and there didn’t seem to be any problems with them. They had already reached a good location while heading towards their hunting ground.
"Shyra, keep an eye on them, and if you sense anything unusual about their condition, inform me immediately," Leo instructed through the mental link.
"Yes, Master! But, Master, what about these 6 men following the group from a distance?" she asked.
"Just keep an eye on them and make sure they don’t sense you," Leo answered.
"Yes! These weaklings could never see through my stealth!" she responded confidently.
Leo simply shook his head in amusement. The way she interacted with him was becoming more natural by the day. In other words, she would soon cross the threshold of intelligence to be classified for the Juvenile Stage like Niri.
Is it the effect of my talent that my beasts are able to learn things faster? Leo couldn’t help but wonder. According to his observations, his beasts were far superior to other tamed beasts—not only in tactics and critical thinking during battle, but also in their ability to learn.
And Leo was indeed right to think that way. The talent [Primordial Beast Taming] had the perk of sense sharing and high-level communication—so advanced that Leo could give a very complicated order, and his beasts would understand it completely, unlike ordinary tamed beasts.
Moreover, this sharing wasn’t one-way. Even the beasts could share Leo’s senses, and by benefiting from it, their learning speed had skyrocketed.
Another major factor was Leo giving them names, which boosted their growth rate in unknown ways.
A few hours later...
Night had already fallen, and Leo had found an elevated rocky platform to rest on.
"Master, please let me cook for you," Lily said with a smile.
At the moment, Leo was extracting beast cores and crystals from several rabbit-like beasts they had just hunted.
"Oh? Alright, cook these rabbits." Saying that, he pushed a few corpses towards her.
"What should we do? My spatial ring has very limited space. It can only fit 2 boar corpses and a little more than 50 beast cores and crystals at once..." Evan muttered in frustration as he contemplated the situation.
"From today’s hunt, we’ve managed to gather around 20 silver coins’ worth of goods. If we want to make a profit, we need to secure more than 100 silver coins."
Leo spoke loudly enough for the 3 people trailing them to overhear. It was a normal dilemma adventurers went through, so it sounded perfectly natural.
Lily, who had just used water magic to fill a container, looked towards Leo.
"Master, I’ve heard people stay inside this realm for days before coming out. Normally, they only store beast cores, magic plants, soul mana crystals—things that are worth more than corpses. Ah! And yes, valuable body parts like claws, fangs, and fur, while throwing away the excess meat and bones to make more space. I think it would be better for you to do that."
Leo nodded.
"I think you’re right. Alright, throw away the rabbit corpses and cook the boar," he said as he took out a boar corpse.
"Really! Thank you, Master!" Lily responded enthusiastically, just like any servant or happy slave would when their master brought something delicious to the table.
While Lily began cooking, Leo built a ring of fire by placing torches at regular intervals to keep wild beasts away while they rested.
We’ll need to eat the Infernal Serpent meat to fulfil our nutritional requirements after we finish this mission, Leo thought. It had been more than 20 days since they had been eating low-ranked meat, which was practically tasteless to their high-ranked bodies.
It was as if they were eating only to fill their stomachs, while the food itself contained no nourishment capable of sustaining them. Not to mention, even the mana density was very low. And if things continued like this for a few months, their strength would gradually begin to diminish.
Not long after, Lily finished cooking and served Leo.
"You won’t eat?" Leo asked.
"Master, I’ll eat later. Let me serve you first."
"Tsk, tsk. Do you think I’m such a bad master that I’d eat while watching my slave suffer from hunger? Come, sit here."
Lily’s face immediately heated up when she saw where Leo was pointing.
He was telling her to sit on his lap.
Leo raised a brow when he noticed her flushed face.
Sometimes I really can’t tell whether she’s only acting... or if that’s her real reaction.
