Chapter 689 - 675: Kes’s Doomsday
Unlike the frenzied beastmen, the warriors from Order stood arrayed and awaiting commands. Their faces showed not fear, but calmness and composure prevailed in their minds!
The warriors believed in the power of their companions.
Chen Feng was not stingy in fostering heroism. Whether it was the initial "God-Making Movement" or subsequently elevating grassroots professionals like Wei Xun, Lu Wei, and Water Ghost, this intentionally or unintentionally established some role models within Order.
However, compared to these, Chen Feng devoted more energy to making the warriors believe in the power of unity!
One man’s strength is limited!
Only by uniting their strength can they unleash a more terrifying deterrent!
The ground seemed to tremble violently under intense trampling.
Faced with warriors of this caliber, human warriors stood shoulder to shoulder; countless battles had already forged them into seasoned fighters. They weren’t a group of recruits but brave adventurers who had faced numerous challenges!
The frenzy and fury had caused the beastmen’s appearance to change dramatically; now they were truly like wild beasts. Under Kes’s high expectations, they intended to pierce through the stalwart formations of Order like a sharp blade. Unfortunately, as they moved into the range of the Demon and Martial Cannons, everything suddenly changed!
"Ready!"
"Fire!"
Roars echoed among the crowd as hundreds of Demon and Martial Cannons fired simultaneously. A series of muffled artillery sounds rang out, and the leading beastman warriors were quickly enveloped in dust.
Compared to their damage against marine life, the Demon and Martial Cannons’ lethality doubled in such an environment with dense enemies!
Especially as some of the explosives contained poison and iron shards, exploding and instantly resulting in countless severed limbs!
Meanwhile, in the sky, tamed insects carried dozens of high-explosive grenades, charging into the beast horde. These were all pets of the Insect Control Masters, conducting suicidal assaults that interrupted the beastmen’s offensive!
Additionally, hundreds of half-elves formed an arrow rain cover, inflicting deadly losses on the beastmen!
Kes never anticipated Order’s strength to manifest before him in this manner. As a newcomer invader, there was much he needed to learn!
This was fundamentally not a battle between equals!
Using a metaphor to describe the current situation; it was like a group of howling ancient people fighting against a modern army!
Even though the beastmen entered a frenzy, they were still flesh and blood. In the dense cannon fire, suicidal assaults, and rain of arrows, they hadn’t even approached the enemy, yet a third of their forces were already lost!
Fear spread.
The battlefield was littered with severed limbs and howling beastman warriors. As those who revered brute force and viewed humans as slaves, today, in front of Chen Feng, they learned the most valuable lesson.
Humans are not cowards!
Boom boom boom!
The terrifying cannon sounds never ceased. Continuous artillery shells bombarded the beastmen’s ranks. Even those who remained fearless in their frenzied state exposed some signs of fear among those untouched by magic!
Even a group of instinctive beasts would fear thunder in the wild. If they were merely at a disadvantage, the beastmen wouldn’t opt for retreat because they were true warriors.
But from beginning to end, the beastmen were completely overwhelmed. No matter how they charged or fought desperately, they ultimately were slapped down hard by a palm and buried in the earth!
Powerlessness!
After suffering countless severe blows, the lust for battle in the beastmen’s hearts finally wavered, causing morale to waver as well, like a small beast stuck in a mire, unable to advance or retreat!
In Chen Feng’s gaze, the All-Seeing Eye slowly swirled. From the start, Chen Feng’s focus wasn’t on the battlefield; instead, he observed Kes’s every move like a lurker.
At this moment, his opponent seemed somewhat surprised, with disbelief on his face. Was his last trump card really destroyed by humans?
A second of hesitation!
Chen Feng’s eyes suddenly narrowed into slits, and the next moment, his body vanished from where it stood.
—Shadow Traverse!
Chen Feng’s figure disappeared in an instant, spanning nearly a hundred meters and appearing directly before Kes. Having merged with the shadows and mastered traversing through them, Chen Feng waited for the most opportune moment because he could only use it once a day!
Their eyes met in an instant, freezing time. In that moment, Kes’s eyes were filled with concern for the battle, while Chen Feng’s held cold murderous intent. Time was too brief for either to alter their thoughts.
Roaring flames surged from Chen Feng’s palm!
The endless sword was like a white lightning slicing through the air, wrapping around Kes’s neck in an instant!
In that fleeting moment, countless thoughts flashed through Kes’s mind. It raised its arm, trying to execute certain moves to fend off Chen Feng’s strike. Unfortunately, all of it turned into nothing when the endless sword slashed through its neck.
Kes’s head flew into the air. It saw its clansmen falling in pools of blood and Nierlu battling the Fallen Angel, but after a few seconds, all of it disappeared, replaced by memories of what the tribe endured in that barren land.
When they first ventured into that area, food shortages were the most despairing issue!
Every day, beastman warriors went hunting outside, even if each hunt was fruitful, some tribespeople never returned from the wastelands.
After three months of hunting, all the elderly beastmen in the tribe disappeared, replaced by a group of strong young beastmen.
No one pondered why it was always the older beastmen who disappeared after each hunt. Perhaps it was merely a coincidence, or maybe the monsters preferred tougher meat. But for the surviving beastmen, simply being alive was enough!
Kes was one of those survivors, haunted by dreams of the elder hunters smilingly venturing out, night after night. Three months and around a hundred hunts, no one returned, no one refused to go.
From that moment, Kes understood his life was not his own; it was the final hope for the survivors, and indeed for the entire tribe.
Kes led his people from barrenness to being a nightmare for countless enemies, longing for the tribe to become stronger, not wanting his people to relive that horrendous nightmare.
But just as he was a step away from his aspirations, it was abruptly cut short on human land.
Kes’s vision gradually hollowed, like its ambitions, his life fell into darkness. He no longer had to worry about the tribe’s future, for he had completely attained a kind of release.
Chen Feng bent down to pick up Kes’s head, and with the demon wings unfolding behind him, ascended into the air. He surveyed everything around him, like a knight proving his feats, raising the spoils in his hand for all to see.
Cheers, excitement.
Wails, roars.
Two extreme emotions permeated the battlefield. Kes awaited the destruction he longed for, while humans welcomed the expected victory!
