Accidentally Pregnant With The Billionaire Heir

Chapter 108 - 107 The Recording

The echoes of Chloe Vance’s shrill, venomous ultimatum bounce off the thick acoustic paneling of the VIP dining room, lingering in the heavy air like a foul odor. She stands there, chest heaving beneath her metallic silver dress, her painted face a mask of manufactured, tragic agony. She genuinely believes she has cornered the entire room. She expects panic. She expects the billionaire owner of the establishment to immediately grovel and offer up his security guard’s wife as a sacrificial lamb to avoid a public scandal.

Total, suffocating silence stretches across the mahogany table for three agonizing seconds.

Then, a sharp, rhythmic sound shatters the quiet.

*Clap. Clap. Clap.*

I do not raise my voice. I do not stand up. I simply lean back in my heavy leather chair and strike my bandaged palms together in a slow, deliberate, mocking applause. The dull thud of the white medical tape hitting together sounds incredibly loud in the tense atmosphere.

Chloe’s fake tears instantly stop. Her blue eyes widen in sheer, unadulterated shock.

"Bravo, Chloe," I say. My voice is entirely flat, dripping with a cold, concentrated sarcasm that strips away every single ounce of her fabricated victimhood. "That was a truly spectacular performance. The trembling lip, the single tear, the dramatic hand placement on your cheek. You are entirely wasted attempting to navigate the corporate world. You are far more suited to be a stage actress in a cheap daytime soap opera."

Chloe’s jaw drops. She looks as though I just slapped her across the face for a third time.

Next to her, Professor Chase undergoes a physical transformation. The older academic’s face shifts from a furious crimson to a dangerous, mottled purple. The veins in his neck bulge prominently against the collar of his rumpled tweed shirt. His hands, resting on the back of an empty dining chair, begin to tremble with a violent, uncontrollable rage. He has spent thirty years in the university system being treated like an intellectual god. To have his authority completely dismissed and mocked by a woman he views as a violent, uneducated thug is breaking his mind.

He whips his head away from me, directing his absolute fury directly at the head of the table.

"Mr. Sinclair!" Professor Chase roars, his voice cracking with indignation. Spittle flies from his lips, landing on the pristine white tablecloth. "Are you simply going to sit there and allow this trash to humiliate us in your establishment? Your refusal to discipline your own staff is an absolute outrage! You are going entirely too far by protecting this woman!"

Warren Sinclair remains perfectly still.

The billionaire casino magnate does not blink. He does not flinch at the shouting. He rests his forearms on the table, the ambient light from the crystal chandelier reflecting off his diamond tie clip. He looks at the trembling academic with the cold, dead, soulless eyes of an apex predator observing a piece of rotting meat.

"I am going too far," Warren repeats softly. His deep, smooth voice lacks any trace of its usual charming amusement. It is a terrifying, freezing rasp that drops the temperature in the room by ten degrees.

Warren slowly tilts his head.

"Let us assume for a moment that I am," Warren continues, staring directly into Chase’s furious eyes. "Let us assume I am completely disregarding your feelings, your status, and your ridiculous demands. Tell me, Professor... what exactly can you do about it?"

The blatant, unapologetic disregard hits the academic like a physical blow to the chest. He staggers slightly, his grip tightening on the wooden chair. He expected Warren to fear bad press. He expected Warren to yield to the social pressure of a respected university figure. Instead, Warren is openly challenging him, completely stripping away his perceived leverage.

"You think you are untouchable because you have money?!" Chase screams, completely losing his grip on his professional composure. "You think you do not have to give me face? I am a tenured director! I have extensive connections! I sit on the advisory boards of politicians, judges, and police commissioners!"

Behind the professor, Julian Thorne suddenly goes completely pale. The failing corporate heir realizes exactly how dangerous this situation is becoming, but he is too paralyzed by fear to step forward and silence the older man.

"I know exactly who you are, Sinclair!" Professor Chase threatens, his voice echoing violently around the soundproof walls. "I know about your little underground operations. I know about the Azure Syndicate! If you do not give me the justice I demand right now, I will fight you to the absolute death! I will gather every connection I have, I will rally the city council, and we will crush you and your criminal society into dust!"

**[ALISTAIR]**

The mention of the Azure Syndicate out loud by a civilian completely alters the atmospheric pressure inside the private dining booth.

I sit rigidly in my leather chair, my dark green eyes locked onto the pompous academic ranting near the doorway. Professor Chase is an absolute fool. He is a man who reads about power in textbooks and believes it translates to the real world. He has absolutely no comprehension of the lethal, violent machinery he just openly threatened.

Warren Sinclair does not look intimidated. He looks incredibly, deeply bored. But I can see the microscopic tightening of Warren’s jaw. The syndicate boss is currently calculating exactly how many pieces to cut the professor into, and which industrial incinerator to use to dispose of the remains.

A soft, warm weight presses against my side.

Emily leans slightly toward me, closing the physical distance between our chairs. The faint, clean scent of her lavender soap cuts through the overwhelming aroma of the roasted duck and aged wine.

"I didn’t want him getting involved in this," Emily whispers, her voice so quiet it barely registers above the sound of Chase’s heavy, furious breathing.

She is looking at Warren. She realizes that her petty, domestic dispute with her stepsister has rapidly escalated into a situation that could trigger a violent, underground war. She wanted to handle her own trash. She wanted to dismantle her family with her own two hands. She never intended for the Azure Syndicate to be dragged into a dispute over a slapped cheek and a bruised ego.

I feel a sharp, heavy surge of possessive instinct flare in my chest.

She is my wife. She is the mother of my heir. The fact that she is sitting in a room, forced to listen to a tweed-wearing academic scream threats at a table while a manipulative blonde plays the victim, is entirely unacceptable. The situation has become entirely too tricky, too convoluted, and far too dangerous to let it continue playing out organically.

It is time to crush this ridiculous charade.

I do not need to threaten physical violence. I do not need to rely on Warren’s underground enforcers. I am Alistair Wolfe. I control the financial heartbeat of this entire continent. With a single sentence, I can strip Julian Thorne of his inheritance, bankrupt Professor Chase’s university department, and permanently exile Chloe Vance from every high-society circle in the state.

I simply need to stand up, reveal my actual identity, and officially declare this entire situation a pathetic misunderstanding born of Chloe’s sheer, staggering delusion. Once they realize they are attempting to bully the CEO of the Wolfe empire, their knees will hit the floor.

I draw a deep breath, pulling my broad shoulders back. I prepare to unleash the absolute, suffocating authority of my title.

"This has gone far enough," I begin, my voice a low, commanding rumble that instantly commands the attention of the room. I open my mouth to finish the sentence, to state my name and end the conflict.

Before the next syllable can leave my lips, Emily’s hand snaps out.

Her bandaged fingers grip my forearm with surprising, ironclad strength. The sudden pressure cuts off my words.

I look down at her. Her dark eyes are burning with a fierce, brilliant intensity. She shakes her head, a microscopic movement indicating absolute refusal. She does not want me to save her. She does not want to hide behind my billions. She is a conqueror, and she intends to win her own war using her own ammunition.

She drops my arm and turns her focus entirely back to the doorway.

"Professor Chase," Emily says. Her voice slices through the lingering echoes of his screaming threats like a scalpel cutting through dead tissue. It is calm, measured, and terrifyingly steady.

Chase glares at her, his chest heaving. He looks as though he might physically spit on her.

"Do you honestly, truly believe I attacked her without provocation?" Emily asks, looking directly into his furious eyes. "You are an academic. A man of science and logic. Do you genuinely believe I simply walked up to her in a hallway and committed an unprovoked assault, just out of sheer jealousy?"

"I do not speak to violent thugs," Professor Chase sneers, his face twisting with profound, elitist disgust. He completely ignores her question. He turns his back on the table in a dramatic, sweeping gesture.

"We are leaving!" the professor barks, grabbing Chloe’s arm and dragging her toward the corridor. "Mr. Sinclair, you will be hearing from my legal representation, and the city council! Come along, Chloe. We are not wasting another second breathing the same air as these criminals."

Chloe looks over her shoulder as she is pulled away. A massive, victorious smirk stretches across her face. She believes she has won. She believes she has successfully weaponized the academic to destroy her enemies.

Emily does not stand up. She does not shout for them to stop.

She simply reaches into the pocket of her plain navy blazer. She pulls out her sleek smartphone. Her bandaged thumb taps the glowing glass screen once, opening an audio application. She taps the screen a second time, turning the media volume to its absolute maximum limit.

She hits play.
