For instance, the Silver Armor Guard the Lord City Lord just mentioned.

In any case, this was a young man worth nurturing.

"Lead the team?"

Torren froze for a moment. "Uncle Joel, aren’t you going?"

"Of course I’m going. I’m not asking you to lead the City Guard, but the adventurers who answer the call. You’ll be in charge of searching and clearing one of the bunkers... Lord City Lord, what do you think?"

Joel was only proposing an idea. Ultimately, whether it would happen or not was up to Beixila, the City Lord.

Beixila glanced at Torren. He was young and hot-headed, sometimes too impatient, but his skills were undeniably good. As an adventurer himself, he also had some standing among his peers. From that perspective, having him lead—or rather, accompany—the adventurers to explore the bunkers was indeed a good decision.

’Of course, the main reason is that I have no other choice...’

Goblin invasions were a recurring disaster. Right now, more than half of Silver Stream City’s guard was scattered, helping defend the various towns and villages, and that included many mid-level officers.

She was short not only on soldiers but on commanders as well.

That was why she had been forced to recall both the Silver Armor Guard and the Shadow Squad.

With that settled, it was time to seriously discuss the division of labor and tactics for the next day.

Joel spoke first. "We have currently discovered a total of five bunkers. The Silver Armor Guard and the Shadow Squad can each handle one. I can take the remaining City Guard Army in the city and handle another. That leaves two, which we’ll have to rely on the city’s adventurers for."

"But we don’t know how many adventurers will participate yet. We’ll have to divide them into two groups. We’ll have to trouble you with these matters, Chairman Vick."

Vick nodded. "Leave that to the Association. You can all rest assured. We’ll post the mission today and do our best to assemble the first team by tomorrow morning so they can set out early."

Beixila nodded. "Torren, compile all currently known intelligence into a report and give it to Chairman Vick."

Torren pointed at himself, his face a mask of confusion. "Me?"

He then looked over at Joel, as if to say, ’Why not him?’

"Who else?"

Joel chuckled. "Your Uncle Joel here is about to lead the troops out right away."

Adventurers needed time for a mission to be posted and for them to assemble, but the army did not. They would set out as soon as possible, departing today and marching through the night to begin the rescue operation that much sooner.

"Fine..."

Torren pursed his lips. He could actually do this sort of work quite well. After all, coming from his family, he had been taught by both word and deed, with his father often instructing him ever since he was a child.

But Torren didn’t like this kind of work. He much preferred being on the battlefield, crossing blades with Demons and other enemies in a real fight.

"Regarding the specific mission assignments..."

The meeting continued, but not for long. Saving lives was the priority. Soon after, the two newly recalled elite units and the remaining City Guard led by Joel departed.

At the same time, Silver Stream City entered a state of martial law. After all, nearly all of the city’s forces had been deployed. Although surrounding towns provided a buffer and scouts were constantly monitoring the area, it was better to be safe than sorry while their defenses were stretched so thin.

The next morning, Lin Mo arrived at the Adventurer’s Association a bit earlier than usual, walking in with Lena as she came in for her shift.

Just as he’d expected, a crowd had already formed around the mission board when he walked into the Association.

Many of the adventurers were just there to see what all the fuss was about.

"What’s going on? Did something happen again?"

"It’s not that something ’happened,’ per se... They just think they’ve found where the girls taken by the Goblins are. Now they’re organizing a rescue party..."

"We have to go save them. It’s a shame I’m not strong enough, or I’d go join in myself."

"No kidding. The mission posting says the location is in the Deep Forest Area of Loran Forest, and it’s already close to the Core Area... I wouldn’t dare go there."

"That’s why the board makes it clear. It’s restricted to Professionals. You have to be a Professional to even sign up."

"Still, you have to admit, the reward is pretty insane..."

"That’s to be expected. It is a dangerous mission, after all."

Lin Mo listened in for a moment before pushing his way toward the front.

"Hey, what do you think you’re doing? I was..."

The man suddenly noticed the Bronze Level Adventurer Identity Card hanging on Lin Mo’s chest. He immediately swallowed his words and stepped aside with a smile. "After you, sir."

’This thing is pretty useful.’

Lin Mo smiled, not bothering to argue with the man.

He reached the mission board and read it carefully.

Call-up Order: Due to the recent Goblin infestation, numerous young women in Silver Stream City and the surrounding towns have been abducted. The City Lord and the City Guard have been working tirelessly to find them and finally made a breakthrough yesterday!

The notice then listed the locations of the bunkers and other relevant intelligence. The information wasn’t extensive, but it was concise and easy to understand, quickly explaining the mission’s purpose and what needed to be done.

We are therefore issuing this call to all adventurers. Please lend us your aid and save these innocent young women!

Note: Due to the high level of danger, only Professionals are permitted to participate!

And then, of course, came the most important part: the reward.

Most adventurers were straightforward folk. Many among them were heroic, willing to punish evil, promote good, and fight for the innocent.

But when it came to a dangerous job like this, in the end, it was all about the payout.
