Chapter 271 - 171: He Couldn’t Have Comprehended It Himself, Could He?

Lin Mo shook his head. The bow was quite good, but unfortunately, he couldn’t use it.

The Ranger Profession was actually very important for ranged damage, an indispensable role in any Adventurer Squad. But when compared to a Mage, its position was a bit awkward.

Its attacks weren’t as powerful as a Mage’s, its range wasn’t as wide, and it wasn’t even as durable as a Mage who had learned Protective Magic. Aside from being relatively faster, it had almost no advantages to speak of.

That’s why Lin Mo had never pursued the Ranger Profession—it just wasn’t very useful.

Of course, it did have some benefits. For instance, unlocking the Ranger Profession would grant some attribute boosts. And he was close. His Lightness Skill had already reached Level Four, and its Skill Level was more than halfway full. Most importantly, after that last battle, Lin Mo could finally confirm that status-type skills like these could also gain Skill Level through the actions and combat of his Clones.

However, the Skill Level they gained seemed to be less than what his main body would get. The reduction was apparently related to the Attributes inherited by the Shadow Splitting Clone.

This meant that as the Shadow Splitting Skill leveled up, the Skill Level gained from his Clones using these skills would also increase.

’And if my main body and the Clone fight together, does that mean I can get double the Skill Level?’

Lin Mo checked his gains from the battle.

Shadow Splitting’s Skill Level was more than halfway full. However, he had already received attribute points and an Evolutionary Path choice when Shadow Splitting reached Level Three. Lin Mo estimated that he wouldn’t get anything for reaching Level 4; he’d probably have to wait until Level 5 or even Level 6 for another upgrade.

But setting that aside, the extra inherited Attributes that the Shadow Splitting Skill gained with each level-up were crucial on their own.

A Level One Shadow Splitting was much weaker than a Level Three one. If Lin Mo’s Shadow Splitting Level were still only Level One, the last fight would not have been so easy. He might not have even been able to finish the battle before the skill’s duration ran out, which would have been awkward.

In any case, Lin Mo had now passed on the second Silver Level secret room. That left two more...

Lin Mo used the Shadow Splitting Skill again, summoning a Clone and sending it down the third path.

’Onward, onward!’

To be honest, using a Clone to scout the map felt pretty great. Especially on a map like this where choices were final, it was like having a god’s-eye view.

’Though, this manual version of a god’s-eye view is a bit of a hassle.’

The fight was similar to the last one. This time, the opponents were his old friends, the Goblins. Lin Mo’s Clone quickly finished the battle and started searching for the secret room’s Silver Treasure Chest. But after searching for a long time, it couldn’t find one.

’Looks like someone has been in this secret room before.’

It was a good thing Lin Mo could use his Clone to scout ahead. Otherwise, if he had chosen this room, fought a tough battle, and then discovered there was no Treasure Chest, he would have been pretty upset.

’If there’s nothing good in this last secret room either...’

Lin Mo eyed the leftmost path from his first attempt. He’d just have to settle for the Excellent Level Sword as a consolation prize.

The Clone entered the final path and proceeded forward. This time, there was a small surprise. Halfway through, Lin Mo discovered a few Goblins trying to catch rats. It seemed the food resources in this Underground Dungeon weren’t exactly plentiful, so he kindly helped the Goblins solve their hunger problem once and for all.

Reaching the end of the path, it pushed open the door and went inside.

Before Lin Mo’s Clone stood a strong and sturdy Crimson Flame Tiger.

’Damn...’

It wasn’t that Lin Mo had never seen a Crimson Flame Tiger before. This type of Demon was incredibly powerful; even at the same Level, very few Demons could match it.

And based on Lin Mo’s limited experience fighting them, the Crimson Flame Tiger before him was likely stronger than Level Two. Even if it wasn’t quite Level Three, it was very close. In return, however, this was the only Demon in the secret room.

’Looks like I’ve finally hit the jackpot...’
