Chapter 228 - 155: Elemental Combination?

Landon didn’t commit one way or the other. After all, they were just Adventurers. Even one like Landon, who paid attention to the bigger picture, ultimately had to evaluate quests based on their danger and rewards.
Of course, based on past experience, Silver Stream City wasn’t usually stingy with rewards; they were generally quite generous.
As for the specifics, they would probably find out tomorrow when they went to accept a quest.

After Huck spoke, he got up and walked toward a small door to the side.
Although it was a private suite, there was still a small path in the men’s area that led to a lounge.
Sid and Benny followed right behind him, and Landon did the same. It seemed this was a regular activity for their squad—or rather, for most Adventurer Squads.
Of course, it wasn’t necessarily to *do* anything; it was very likely just to get a simple massage.
Lin Mo glanced at the small door, and an unpleasant memory surfaced, making him shudder.
’Forget it. I’d rather get a massage from a Dwarf matron. At least her technique is on point, the pressure is strong enough, and she wouldn’t get handsy.’
"Aren’t you coming, Lin Mo?"
Huck suddenly glanced back and asked curiously.
He then seemed to realize something and added, "Don’t worry, we won’t tell Miss Ali... or Miss Feney."
"No, no..."
Lin Mo waved his hand. "You guys go ahead."
’Being handsome really is a curse sometimes.’ Lin Mo, for one, couldn’t handle the girls’ excessive enthusiasm.
’I’ll just keep soaking. The bath feels nice.’
Lin Mo leaned against the edge of the bath, enjoying the warm water.
He didn’t get out until the skin on his fingers had started to prune, then went straight to the main hall to wait.
Wrapped in a bathrobe, Lin Mo walked into the private suite’s main hall, only to find Ali was already there. With a head of soaking wet hair, she was struggling to dry herself with a towel.
Bathing wasn’t exactly Ali’s favorite activity.
Soaking in the bath was pleasant enough, but the wet, cold feeling afterward wasn’t very nice.
Her large tail, in particular, took a very long time to dry.
Lin Mo walked over and sat down beside her. His Magic Power resonated with the Wind Element, creating a slight breeze to help dry the fur on her tail.
"You’re done so fast, Lin Mo?"
Ali turned her head and quite naturally settled into his lap.
"You were pretty quick too. Where’s Feney?"
"Miss Feney said she wanted to soak a little longer... Shefilya is with her, so you don’t have to worry."
If Ali hadn’t said that, given Lin Mo’s impression of Feney, he would have genuinely worried she might faint in the bath.
But by saying that, she was, in a way, also reminding him that this was her time now.
As Lin Mo carefully dried her fur, an idea suddenly occurred to him.
’Resonating with the Wind Element can create a breeze, and resonating with the Fire Element can create heat or fire. So what if I combine the Wind and Fire Elements?’

And then Ali’s tail caught fire!
Lin Mo hurriedly resonated with the Water Element to extinguish the flames. Ali turned her head in confusion. "Did something happen? I thought I felt something hot back there just now?"
"Nope, it was just your imagination."
It’s a well-known fact that a tail and a wolf girl are two separate beings. Unless her actual skin got burned, Ali wouldn’t feel much.
Still, a small, grayish-black tuft of fur remained on her beautiful, large tail.
"Is that so..."
Ali didn’t think much of it and quickly snuggled back into Lin Mo’s embrace, enjoying the peaceful moment.
Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief. ’Next time, I’d better do more research before trying again.’
’Looks like combining Magic from different Elements isn’t that easy.’
’The main problem is control. As soon as the Elements get close, they collide, either consuming each other’s Energy or creating a violent conflict.’
’Still, it’s an interesting line of research.’
’If I can make some progress down the line, I might actually be able to combine Magic!’
’On a basic level, I could use combinations of Magic to create many interesting fighting styles. For instance, by combining the Excellent Level [Gale Technique] and the Excellence Level [Fire Wall Skill], could I create a fire wall that pushes forward?’
’Or what about combining [Thunder Strike] and [Blast Flame Fireball]? Could that create an attack that leaves a trail of sparks and lightning?’
’These are all directions worth exploring.’
’Taking it a step further, if the cooperation or combination between Elements reaches a high enough level, it might be possible to evolve new circuits... and once that path is successfully pioneered, there would surely be not just one or two, but tens, hundreds, or even thousands more to follow. Eventually, it might even be possible to create a new system, different from the current landscape of Magic!’
’Of course, that’s all a long way off. With my current strength, I’m still far, far from that level.’
’I should keep my feet on the ground. It’s not easy to make breakthroughs in this kind of pioneering work quickly. I’ll just have to experiment slowly as I grow stronger.’
After Lin Mo finished drying the Little Wolf Girl’s fur, they sat and chatted for a while. Soon, Landon and the others returned from their massages.
