Chapter 232 - 156: Cave, Rolling Stone
On the way back with Shefilya, he bought some better ingredients. Dinner was still cooked by the Maid. Shefilya’s skills in maid-related duties were basically first-rate—not quite the absolute best, but you could hardly find fault with her.
After dinner, it was naturally time for Ali’s extra training session.
Lin Mo also asked her about her progress with her skill practice during the day. Thanks to the significant combat experience she’d accumulated recently, her progress was exceptionally smooth, and she had almost completely mastered the Skills she was currently working on.
This was something to celebrate, but it was also a problem...
Lin Mo, of course, had no shortage of Skills. Never mind his monstrous learning speed—every Skill he had would automatically evolve into a New Skill just by training it to Full Level. Ali, however, could not do the same.
Lin Mo had also thought about teaching his Skills to Ali. But for one, Ali’s aptitude wasn’t that high. For another, his own strength wasn’t quite sufficient. Moreover, even though he had completely mastered his Skills, it was limited to perfect "mastery" and "use." Compared to those Masters who could create Skill Scrolls, he still lacked decades of accumulated knowledge and understanding.
’Forget it. I won’t dwell on it for now. I’ll just take things one step at a time.’
Ali was already busy. Lin Mo put aside his stray thoughts and began to focus on the matter at hand.
...
Life went on at this peaceful pace.
「Two days later.」
In those two days, Lin Mo completed a daily quest to kill 100 Goblins each day.
This caused his Skill Proficiency to increase by leaps and bounds.
First was [Punching Fist]. As expected, this Skill had reached Full Level and completed its evolution.
"Skill [Punching Fist] Level 4 (100/100) has leveled up!"
"Current Skill: [Punching Fist] Level 5 (Max)"
"Obtained attribute points: Strength +2!"
"Has automatically evolved into a New Skill—Rapid Charge Fist!"
"You have learned the Skill [Rapid Charge Fist]! Strength +1, Constitution +1!"
[Rapid Charge Fist]: Circulate Qi and Blood and gather it in your fist to unleash a swift punch. You can expend additional Qi and Blood to enhance the Skill. The more Qi and Blood you condense, the faster your punch and the greater its power.
This Skill was rather interesting.
Although it was an Excellent Level Skill, it had a very unique characteristic.
On the surface, this Skill seemed to be just an enhanced version of [Punching Fist]—stronger and faster—but it had an additional effect similar to [Sword Charge Strike].
Furthermore, unlike [Sword Charge Strike], which required a fixed amount of time to accumulate Sword Qi, this move’s charging speed depended solely on the circulation speed of one’s own Qi and Blood.
The higher your Qi Blood Strength and the faster its circulation, the faster you could charge the attack.
This was a perfect match for Lin Mo’s own "stat monster" Basic Attributes.
After obtaining this Skill, Lin Mo tested it out multiple times. When used normally, it was just a run-of-the-mill Excellent Level Warrior Skill, with rather Ordinary power and practicality.
However, it was a different story after an additional Condensation of Qi and Blood.
With Lin Mo’s current Qi Blood Strength, it only took less than a second to charge [Rapid Charge Fist] to its limit. And a fully charged [Rapid Charge Fist] possessed power comparable to an Excellence Level Skill!
Its total damage was probably slightly lower than a fully charged [Sword Charge Strike], but it was a bit stronger for breaking through defenses. It was still a little weaker than [Blood Qi Blade], however.
But as an Excellent Level Skill, even when maxing out the additional cost, its consumption was still lower than [Blood Qi Blade].
All in all, it was a Skill with a fairly good cost-to-performance ratio.
Lin Mo had already trained it to Level 2 (5/20).
Next was Backstab. This Skill had also been trained to Full Level and had evolved.
"Skill [Backstab] Level 4 (100/100) has leveled up!"
"Current Skill: [Backstab] Level 5 (Max)"
"Obtained attribute points: Agility +2!"
"Has automatically evolved into a New Skill—Bone-Piercing Heavy Stab!"
"You have learned the Skill [Bone-Piercing Heavy Stab]! Agility +2!"
[Bone-Piercing Heavy Stab]: Launch a powerful Stabbing attack from behind at an enemy’s vital points. If it hits a vital or critical area (such as the heart, spine, or brain), it will apply an additional interrupt effect, stopping any attack or spellcasting in progress. (Effect applies even without full penetration, as long as defenses are breached.)
This Skill was also very interesting.
This was a Skill that required a fair bit of finesse to use.
Compared to the previous, Ordinary [Backstab], it added an interrupt effect similar to a minor crowd control, which would activate as long as it hit a vital point and broke through the target’s defense.
When dealing with targets much weaker than himself, this Skill was completely useless. Since it would be a one-shot kill anyway, it made no difference whether he could interrupt them or not.
But when facing an evenly matched opponent, or one who was stronger than him, this Skill’s potential was very high.
Some Assassins, especially when trying to assassinate targets of the same level, might fail to kill their opponent in one blow and immediately face a counterattack. An Assassin’s own Constitution is rather Fragile, so they could easily be reverse-killed or end up taking their opponent down with them.
But with this Skill, as long as it was executed properly, that was no longer a concern. It let you land a hit and interrupt their skill—no counterattacks allowed. It was a purely cheesy skill.
When facing opponents with high Constitution and exceptional defensive capabilities, it could even be used as a crowd control skill.
Unfortunately, Lin Mo hadn’t had an opponent to test it on yet. Using it to kill those Low Level Goblins was basically no different from using [Backstab], so for now, it remained at Level 1.
Furthermore, from maxing out [Backstab] and learning [Bone-Piercing Heavy Stab], Lin Mo gained another 4 points in Agility. This raised his Agility Attribute directly from 39 to 43.
