Unfortunately, it seemed Lin Mo had no way of bringing these items back. The duration of his Shadow Splitting had ended, and even if he used the Skill again to return to the secret room, the Underground Secret Realm had a Barrier. Once you entered, you could only move forward, not backward.

This rule also applied to his Clones. Lin Mo’s Clone had just confirmed that after entering the secret room, the path behind it was shrouded in an intangible mist.

However, scouting with his Clone was still useful. For one, it could increase his Skill Level for the [Shadow Splitting] Skill. For another, he could get a preview of the specific treasures in these secret rooms.

Since he could only choose one room, this cheat-like method would at least allow Lin Mo to pick the item with the highest value.

And so... he had to continue!

Lin Mo activated his Shadow Splitting Skill again, summoning another Clone.

"What’s wrong?"

Shefilya immediately asked from behind him.

She thought Lin Mo’s Clone had run into some kind of trouble.

"It’s nothing. I’m just trying to see what’s inside all these secret rooms."

As he spoke, Lin Mo directed his Clone down the second path.

Shefilya watched the figure of Lin Mo’s Clone thoughtfully, apparently understanding his plan.

"Is there anything I can do?"

"No need."

Lin Mo gave her a slightly strange look. In the past, Shefilya would never have asked something like that. She would usually just follow behind him, never intervening unless there was danger.

He supposed it was because they’d spent so much time together and had grown familiar with one another. Still, Lin Mo couldn’t shake the feeling that ever since he moved into Shefilya’s home, the cold-faced Maid’s attitude toward him had changed significantly.

The Clone created by Shadow Splitting continued deeper down the path. As expected, a bright, silver door once again appeared before it.

Drawing on his previous experience, Lin Mo had the Clone push the door right open and get a look at its new opponent.

It turned out to be an extremely sturdy Bull Chief, leading several other Minotaurs—old foes of his.

The Bull Chief’s Strength was immense. Although Lin Mo’s Clone wasn’t necessarily weaker, there was no need for a direct confrontation. After all, playing to one’s strengths and avoiding weaknesses was the key to an easier battle.

Moreover, Lin Mo had discovered something else—something he wasn’t sure whether to call a bug or not.

The Clones created by Shadow Splitting, though unable to use Skills, could inherit some of his main body’s status effects.

For example, there was Resilience, and also Lightness, a Skill he had learned from the Ranger Profession.

The idea had occurred to him on a whim while traveling earlier, and it turned out to be true. Now, he just wondered if his Clone’s battles could increase the Skill Level of those two Skills.

’Only one way to find out.’

The Bull Chief swung the Giant Axe in its hands down at the Clone. Lin Mo had it sidestep the blow, not in a hurry to finish off the Big Monster. Instead, he first targeted the Ordinary Minotaurs at its side.

The Clone was incredibly fast; for these Minotaurs, it was an absolutely overwhelming assault.

The Minotaur it targeted couldn’t even clearly see its movements before its head was lopped off.

[Shadow Splitting] Skill Level +1

This was the only notification that appeared on his panel. After all, Resilience hadn’t triggered at all, and since Lightness was a status-type Skill, its Skill Level didn’t increase from killing Demons.

Without pausing, the Clone charged the next Minotaur. It appeared before the creature in an instant, thrusting its Sword forward and easily piercing its chest.

With two of its minions killed in quick succession, the Bull Chief grew frantic. It let out a furious roar, swinging its Heavy Axe as it chased after the Clone.

The Clone didn’t even glance back. As if it had eyes in the back of its head, it effortlessly dodged the attack. Then, pushing off its feet, it took another step and continued toward the next Minotaur.

Similar notifications flashed continuously before Lin Mo’s eyes as the Minotaurs fell one by one. In less than half a minute, only the Bull Chief remained on the field.

Only then did the Clone turn to face the exasperated and furious Bull Chief, beckoning to it with a single finger.

The Bull Chief’s eyes were bloodshot. Having completely lost its mind, it charged at the Clone.

Timing it perfectly, the Clone sidestepped, dodging the Heavy Axe’s downward chop by a hair’s breadth. Then, with a backhanded swing of its Sword, it left a deep gash on the creature’s body.

The Bull Chief cried out in pain and swept its heavy axe horizontally toward the Clone.

Completely unfazed, the Clone suddenly leaped up. It tapped the flat of the axe blade with the tip of its foot, using the momentum as a launch point to thrust its Sword toward the Bull Chief’s face. The Bull Chief couldn’t dodge in time and was struck in the eye.

The sharp Black Sword pierced through the weak point, continuing downward and scrambling the Bull Chief’s brains to mush.

[Shadow Splitting] Skill Level +13

That was 1 point more than he had gotten from the Ice Armor Ape, but overall, there wasn’t much of a difference.

’That takes care of that.’

With the battle over, and before the Clone disappeared, Lin Mo had it quickly search the secret room. Sure enough, it soon found the room’s Silver Treasure Chest. Opening the Treasure Chest revealed a Crossbow with incredibly smooth lines, its craftsmanship and materials exceptionally fine.

Besides that, there were also some Gold Coins.
