’When did this change happen?’

He’d never had an opportunity like this before, so Lin Mo had no idea when he’d acquired this new ability.

’And what caused such a change?’

Lin Mo pondered for a long time but couldn’t come up with any leads. Finally, he opened his attribute panel and looked at his Spirit, which had reached 19 points after combining its base and augmented values.

’Could this be another effect of the Spiritual Attribute?’

Although there was no clear evidence, Lin Mo felt it was highly likely.

Regardless, this was another pleasant surprise.

The enhancement of his Identification Ability didn’t just mean he could now see the Attributes of Potions. More importantly, he wondered if the ability would change further as his Spiritual Attribute continued to increase.

’For example, could I identify other people’s Attributes? Or even their Skills and weaknesses?’

Of course, this was just Lin Mo’s speculation for now.

Needless to say, Lin Mo immediately unstoppered the Frost Potion and drank it in one gulp.

’It doesn’t have much of a taste, but it’s cool and refreshing. Pretty nice.’

Soon, Lin Mo felt a surge of Ice Element Magic Power coursing through his body, and his body underwent a subtle change.

"Used Basic Frost Reagent. Ice Element Affinity +13%."

Ice Elemental Magic was one of the Skills Lin Mo used very frequently, so increasing his Ice Element Affinity was a huge boost for him.

However, Lin Mo already had some Ice Element Affinity. After defeating the Frosty Corpse, he had taken its Core Bone and asked Madam Chacher to shape it into a bead, which was now embedded in his Secret Silver Gloves.

That bead had increased his Ice Element Affinity by 16%. However, something like Elemental Affinity was subject to diminishing returns. He wondered what 13% plus 16% would become after factoring them in.

Lin Mo opened his attribute panel to take a look.

Ice Element Affinity: 27%

’The drop-off isn’t too bad,’ he thought. ’Normally, 13% plus 16% is 29%, but it’s 27%. It only decreased by 2%. That’s pretty good.’

If he continued to stack it, the diminishing returns would likely become more and more severe.

Besides the Ice Element Reagent, there was one other item in the Treasure Chest: a Skill Scroll.

Lin Mo opened the Scroll, and his eyes lit up again.

’It’s a Magic Scroll!’

’Now this is more like it. This is the kind of thing I’d expect to find in a Gold-Plated Silver Treasure Chest.’

The Magic Scroll contained a spell called Frost Guardian, which seemed to be another Defense Class Skill.

However, Frost Guardian was not the same type of Skill as Lin Mo’s previous Rock Shield Technique.

Rock Shield Technique truly creates a Shield made of the Earth Element, whereas Frost Guardian is more like a traditional Mage’s defensive spell. It conjures a Magic Barrier that surrounds the caster, providing all-around protection from attacks.

Compared to Rock Shield Technique, Frost Guardian’s defense against physical attacks was likely a bit weaker, but in return, it had the advantages of a wider range and being more effective against magical attacks.

Plus, with Lin Mo’s current 27% Ice Element Affinity, it would be equally effective for a Defense Class Skill like Frost Guardian.

He looked forward to seeing how useful this Skill would be in the future.

Frost Guardian was an Excellent Level Skill. Excellent Level Magic was composed of four Magic Circuits, making it relatively complex.

Lin Mo held the Scroll and carefully studied the circuits recorded on it for a good while. He could also feel the residual Spiritual Energy left behind by the Scroll’s creator, which indeed helped him grasp the Skill much faster.

After some time, Lin Mo finally put down the Scroll.

A line of text then appeared before his eyes:

"Skill Learned: Frost Guardian. Magic Power +2."

"Alright, time to move on."

Lin Mo tucked the Scroll away, stood up, and walked toward the door at the other end of the secret room.

Shefilya, who was following behind him, hesitated for a moment before she finally couldn’t resist asking, "Were you just learning a Skill?"

"Something like that..."

Lin Mo gave an ambiguous answer, so Shefilya didn’t press the matter further.

Pushing open the silver door, which like the entrance was inlaid with gold trim, Lin Mo found five diverging paths before him.

There was one more path than before. If he followed the pattern Lin Mo had deduced, then the secret room at the end of this path should be Gold Level.

Lin Mo used his Shadow Splitting Skill to create a Clone and sent it down the first path.

The journey was still relatively smooth, and it soon arrived at the door of the secret room. Just as Lin Mo had expected, a brilliant gold door appeared before it.

Level 3 and Level 3.5 Demons had appeared in the Silver Level secret rooms, and a Level 4.5 Demon had appeared in the Gold-Plated Silver secret room. Logically, the Demon Level in this pure Gold Level secret room should be even higher than in the Gold-Plated Silver one.

This was clearly far beyond the Clone’s capabilities, but Lin Mo still controlled the Clone and had it push open the door.

Almost at that very instant, an Ice Cone flew over and pierced right through "Lin Mo’s" heart.

An explosion rang out. Before his vision was cut off, Lin Mo managed to catch a glimpse of the attacker—a bear covered in dark blue fur.

A Frost Bear. It was a Demon similar to an Earth Bear, but one was Ice Attribute and the other was Earth Attribute.
