The second row erupted the moment the group crossed its threshold, and this time the ground itself seemed to brace for what was coming.

Four shapes tore free of glowing stone, armor and rotted banners and ancient weapons reassembling with far more coherence than the first row had managed, and even standing still they radiated something heavier, older, more deliberately dangerous.

[Warlord’s Remnant of Noctelith. Peak Divine-rank.]

[Ironclad Berserker of Noctelith. Peak Divine-rank.]

[Duskblade Reaper of Noctelith. Peak Divine-rank.]

[Ashgrave Conjurer of Noctelith. Peak Divine-rank.]

The Conjurer raised both skeletal arms before anyone finished processing the reveal, ritual script blazing to life along every bone, and three more shapes tore up from the cursed earth around it, wreathed in raw elemental fury.

[Cinderwrought Elemental. Peak Divine-rank.]

[Frostbound Elemental. Peak Divine-rank.]

[Stormcore Elemental. Peak Divine-rank.]

Seven presences, arranged in a loose, practiced formation that spoke of guardians who had done this exact fight countless times before and refined it into something close to art.

"Seven," Anrita said flatly. "All Peak Divine-rank."

"Cameron." Aidan didn’t look away from the assembling enemy line. "Keep everyone safe. I don’t want anyone playing hero today who doesn’t need to."

[Cameron: Understood.]

The turtle’s shell flared with slow, ancient light, and a dome of translucent gold-brown stone unfolded around Ordun’s whole crew in a single, unhurried motion, sealing them safely away from a fight that had already outgrown them.

"Rest of you," Aidan said, cracking his knuckles, "with me."

Jovan folded into place at his left. Finn poured out at his right, scales already blazing bright with focus rather than caution this time. Anrita fell in a step behind, calculations running visibly faster than usual. Arthur’s Gear Morph sealed shut around Aidan’s frame in a flood of crimson-gold light.

All seven enemies moved at once.

...

The Warlord’s Remnant struck first, stepping forward with the unhurried confidence of something that had commanded armies once and never forgotten how, and its blade carried an aura Aidan recognized instantly, cold professional recognition settling into his chest a half-second before the technique’s name confirmed it.

[Conceptual Technique: Commander’s Absolute Line.]

[Power Rating: 214,880.]

A line of compressed force tore across the battlefield, indiscriminate and total, cutting a visible seam through the very air that widened as it traveled, and Aidan met it with the only answer that made sense against something built to cut everything in its path.

[Conceptual Technique: Fist of Judgement.]

The technique absorbed the incoming line whole, drank every ounce of its cutting force into a single spinning point of gathered light, and discharged it back as a condensed verdict of pure lightning that staggered the Warlord’s Remnant three full steps backward, armor smoking along the point of impact.

[Power Rating: 201,410.]

Something in Aidan’s chest sparked with recognition. His oldest technique, the one that had killed Vorkapar a lifetime ago, had just crossed two hundred thousand for the first time, mastery earning it new weight in the middle of a real fight rather than quiet practice.

’Nice.’ He grinned despite the chaos closing in from every side. ’Guess pressure really does sharpen things.’

The Ironclad Berserker didn’t wait its turn. It crashed into the fight from the flank, twin axes already trailing a Conceptual Technique of pure devastating momentum, each swing carving arcs of compressed force into the cursed earth wherever it missed.

[Conceptual Technique: Ruinous March.]

[Power Rating: 227,340.]

Anrita intercepted it, lightning meeting axe-edge in a shower of white sparks that lit the whole row like daylight, and for three full exchanges she held the line entirely on her own, calculating faster than the Berserker’s simple, brutal patterns could adapt to, reading each swing’s trajectory a half-second before it committed.

The Cinderwrought Elemental hurled a lance of condensed flame at her exposed side while she was locked in the duel, fire compressed dense enough to glow white at its core.

Finn caught it instead, aurora light swallowing the fire whole before it crossed the last few meters, axioms rewriting the flame’s basic nature until it simply stopped being hot, drifting past Anrita’s shoulder as harmless, colorless light.

[Finn: NOT TODAY.]

The Frostbound Elemental and Stormcore Elemental attacked together next, ice and lightning weaving into a combined technique that neither alone could have managed, frost climbing up through crackling arcs of blue-white current.

[Conceptual Technique: Absolute Zero Circuit.]

[Power Rating: 198,600.]

Jovan met it with a barrier reinforced by Cameron’s steady, patient support radiating from the shell dome nearby, misfortune and stone both lending weight to the ward.

The combined elemental assault shattered against something that finally, genuinely held, cracks spidering across the barrier’s surface without ever quite breaking through.

"Cameron’s carrying more than shield duty," Jovan noted, strain still evident in his voice despite the successful block. "His presence alone is steadying every technique we throw."

[Cameron: I am pleased to be useful.]

...

The Duskblade Reaper came for Aidan directly while the others scattered his attention across four separate fronts, a blur of dark, precise motion that very nearly opened his throat before he registered the attack at all.

He caught the blade an inch from his skin, bare-handed, and felt the Reaper’s Conceptual Technique activate against his palm the instant contact landed.

[Conceptual Technique: Thousand Silent Cuts.]

[Power Rating: 209,750.]

Pain bloomed across his whole arm in a hundred simultaneous points, cuts opening faster than his eyes could track their source, thin red lines etching themselves from wrist to shoulder in the space of a single heartbeat.

Aidan answered by driving Shadowfrost directly into the contact point rather than pulling away from the pain.

[Conceptual Technique: Shadowfrost Oblivion.]

The frost climbed the blade and up the Reaper’s arm before it could withdraw, spreading through ancient bone in branching white veins.

This time the technique’s cost registered lower than ever before, mastery compounding on mastery until the kill came almost effortlessly, the Reaper crumbling into frozen shards before it finished its own retreat.

[Power Rating: 224,930.]

Another technique crossing new ground. Aidan filed the number away with genuine satisfaction, flexing his cut, bleeding arm once before letting Halcyon’s Joy seal the worst of it shut, and turned to find his next target.

The Warlord’s Remnant had recovered from Fist of Judgement and came again, blade drawn back for a second Commander’s Absolute Line, armor still smoking from the first exchange but posture entirely unbroken.

This time Aidan met it with something new entirely, aspects folding together on pure instinct born from a dozen fights just like this one, fire and gravity finding each other mid-motion without him consciously reaching for either.

[Conceptual Technique comprehended: Ashen Verdict.]

[Power Rating: 219,110.]

Fire and gravity fused into a single crushing pillar of judgment, catching the Warlord’s Remnant mid-technique and burying its half-formed attack under something considerably heavier, the pillar driving straight down through armor, banner, and ancient bone alike. The guardian didn’t get a third attempt.

Four down. Three remained, and the three elementals had clearly decided coordinating with each other was their best remaining option.

...

Cinderwrought, Frostbound, and Stormcore converged into a single overlapping storm of fire, ice, and lightning, aspects that shouldn’t have cooperated folding together through whatever remnant of the Conjurer’s will still bound them even after its own death.

[Conceptual Technique: Trielemental Requiem.]

[Power Rating: 231,500.]

The combined assault caught the whole group at once, flame and frost and current weaving together into a single wall of overwhelming force, and for a genuinely dangerous moment everyone scattered wide rather than trying to answer it head on.

Arthur roared and threw himself directly into the heart of the storm anyway, Gear Morph’s borrowed plating absorbing the brunt of it while Aidan rode the momentum forward, using his own summon’s armored bulk as a shield and a springboard both.

"Buddy, hold the line," Aidan called, already moving.

[Arthur: HOLDING.]

Aidan broke free of the storm’s edge and closed on the Stormcore Elemental first, Thunder Blitz Lord crackling to answer lightning with lightning, and Electromagnetism read the elemental’s every discharge a half-second before it fired, tracking each arc back to its source before it finished forming.

[Conceptual Technique: Fourfold Cataclysm.]

The burst caught Stormcore dead center, and its own lightning fed directly into the technique’s hunger, adding fuel to its own destruction. It came apart in a shower of dying sparks that scattered harmlessly across the cursed ground.

[Power Rating: 187,940.]

Finn took Cinderwrought personally, aurora fire meeting elemental flame in a battle of pure, opposing brightness that lit the entire row white for a full second, and axioms simply overwrote the fire’s right to exist entirely, the Elemental unraveling into harmless embers that drifted upward and vanished.

Anrita finished Frostbound alone, lightning finding purchase through cracks the ice had never bothered defending, calculating the kill three full moves ahead of the Elemental’s own reactions and ending it with a single precise strike through its frozen core.

Seven guardians. All fallen, in under fifteen minutes of the hardest fighting any of them had done since stepping into this Tomb.

...

Silence settled over the second row, broken only by drifting motes and the distant, steady hum of Cameron’s protective dome finally lowering.

Ordun’s crew emerged blinking, entirely unharmed, staring at the wreckage of seven Peak Divine-rank guardians with open disbelief.

"You didn’t need us at all," Veshan said, sounding equal parts relieved and faintly insulted.

"Wasn’t about need." Aidan rolled his shoulders, exhaustion settling into something satisfied rather than crushing, his cut arm already knitting shut properly now that the fight had stopped demanding his full attention. "Was about not risking people who didn’t have to be risked."

Anrita ran a final calculation, checking her own readings against the fight’s opening numbers. "My reaction speed increased measurably over the course of that engagement. Approximately eleven percent."

"Same," Jovan said. "Whatever this place does to a fight, it teaches fast."

[Finn: I LEARNED SO MUCH. Mostly that I’m amazing.]

Aidan grinned, checking his own tally of freshly upgraded techniques, Fist of Judgement and Shadowfrost Oblivion both settled comfortably past two hundred thousand for good now, a brand new one born mid-fight and already proven in real combat.

"Seven rows left," he said, looking out toward the next stretch of glowing tombs. "Let’s see how much stronger we get before we run out of graveyard."

[Cameron: I would enjoy that. It has been a very long time since I felt useful.]

"Buddy," Aidan said, clapping one hand against the turtle’s massive flank, "you were the reason nobody died today. That’s about as useful as it gets."
