The news of Fenrir’s attack on the Heaven-Reaching Tower had already been broadcast worldwide through the media present, and of course, the refugees in the Rust Wall District’s settlement area were aware of it.

At this moment, the settlement area was plunged into large-scale chaos, with the border people, upon learning the Wolf King had been attacked, falling into rage and confronting the security forces. In some areas, bloody conflicts had already broken out.

The building where the Fenrir attack occurred was also engulfed in a storm of anger.

Earlier today, everyone thought it would be an honorable award ceremony, a barrier of peace between the border and the Inner City.

The leader they had followed for years would also be honored, stepping from darkness into sunlight, being remembered by the world as a supreme hero.

However, no one expected this award ceremony to be a trap—despicable giant corporations had set up an ambush at Crown Plaza, intending to harm Fenrir, igniting everyone’s fury.

Many members of the Fenrir attack had already left the building and taken to the streets, leading the border people to demand answers from the security forces. Some radicals attempted to leave the settlement area by any means, wanting to join Fenrir in battle at the Heaven-Reaching Tower.

In the chaotic crowd, a hooded figure silently moved against the flow, entering the Fenrir attack’s building from a secluded area to reach the floor where Hibell was.

Hibell was in a state of awakening, staring blankly at her phone, looking at news about Fenrir, unable to believe what was happening, thinking she was trapped in a nightmare.

Seeing Troy drop his hood and walk in, Hibell quickly showed him the screen, her voice trembling with panic, "Troy, what’s going on... Didn’t you investigate and say this award ceremony was fine?"

"Did the giant corporations set up a very sinister plot that even you couldn’t detect? What should we do now... We can’t leave the big sister alone there!"

Troy picked up a coat from the rack and walked over to help Hibell dress, "Put on the coat; we are going out. I’ll carry you downstairs."

Hibell was manipulated like a puppet, asking blankly, "Going out... where to?"

Troy’s voice was calm and unwavering, "Taking you to heal."

"Heal?..." Hibell didn’t immediately understand what her brother meant because, subconsciously, she believed there was no place to cure her Blood Code Dissociation Syndrome.

But soon, she noticed Troy’s pocket bulging with something.

Instantly, an exceedingly ominous premonition enveloped her heart.

She rummaged through Troy’s pocket and grabbed the thing, seeing clearly the precisely packaged white agent in her hand.

"Is this... gene-editing protein?" Hibell’s voice couldn’t stop trembling, staring at Troy in confusion, "Why do you have this drug?"

Troy didn’t speak, merely gazing at her silently.

Only then did Hibell realize that Troy’s eyes were entirely different from the other Fenrir attack members who had learned about Fenrir being assaulted.

Others appeared panicked and flustered upon hearing the news, as anxious as ants on a hot pan.

Yet, in Troy’s eyes, there was no surprise, no panic, no anger...

Only the utterly calm stillness of a dead pond.

This gaze finally made Hibell realize the truth.

Panic like a dam collapse floated in Hibell’s eyes as she instinctively covered her mouth, tears quickly flooded her eyes and streamed down her cheeks.

"Ah! Ah!! Traitor!!! You traitor!!!" Unable to accept reality, Hibell broke down, screaming desperately. She first tried to slap Troy’s face with her hand, but with no strength, she couldn’t hit him. Then she started scratching with her nails.

Troy’s face was scratched with bloody marks by Hibell, the blood gushing out from the wounds, some seeped to the corners of his lips, some dripping along his chin, but he remained numb and unresponsive.

By the end of her scratching, Hibell’s fragile nails had flipped open and couldn’t scratch any longer, so she held Troy’s wrists with her bloody fingers, biting his hands furiously, glaring at him with unprecedented hatred, her throat continuously producing shattered cries.

Troy blinked forcefully, pushing back the newly-wetted liquid from his eyes, saying in a deep voice, "You can hate me, I just want you to live."

Whether from her body failing after the outburst of emotion or being numb from despair, Hibell slumped to the ground as if her backbone had been extracted.

Her mouth and hands were covered in her brother’s blood, and she looked at Troy with a deeply sorrowful gaze, her voice hoarse to the extreme, "Troy, I’m telling you, I don’t want what you’ve traded out big boss for!"

With that said, she abruptly grabbed the gene-editing protein and slammed it onto the ground.

"Bang!"

That crisp sound instantly plunged Troy’s heart into ice, his face twisted with panic, yelling as he lunged for the gene-editing protein that was smashed to the ground.

He trembled as he picked it up and cradled it in his arms, his breath shivering from fear, erratically checking its packaging.

"It’s fine... it’s fine... not broken... can still be used..."

The severely ill Hibell was indeed too weak, and given that gene-editing proteins are high-tech drugs that can’t be packaged merely in fragile glass, its packaging was very sturdy, needing special means to be broken; this throw didn’t cause any real issue.

Even so, Troy was still severely frightened, sitting there as if soulless, tightly guarding the gene-editing protein, muttering continuously "it’s fine," "can still be used," and similar phrases.
