"Mother hasn’t contacted us in days..."

A Vashki no taller than an average human pressed his palm against glass viewport of his ship, the rings around his fingers hummed and sent little ripples across the ship bringing it to live.

"I have to go find her."

"Your Highness, I must remind you that you honor your mother’s wish and stay on the ship."

"Why should I stay here when I know nothing of the state of my mother?"

"...patience, My Lord, give her some time."

"Tsk, I don’t understand why she’s so drawn to this world and its inhabitants."

"Your mother knows best."

Admiral Bak Seong-Hyun groaned as he filed another request, from a certain someone, invalid. He was pretty sure after exactly 10 minutes the certain someone will come banging on his door asking yet again why his request was ruled invalid.

1... 3... 5... 8... 10.

As soon as the watch strapped around his arm landed on the tenth minute, the door to his office hissed open and an angry looking K stepped in.

"K-0-0-1."

It had been about a week since K brought the projection of the research unit, K.A.G.U, saying it was the coordinates of the place the alien doctor Thira was taken to.

"Why?"

He sighed and ran both palms through his hair.

"I’ve made it clear to you, K. Your soldiers are recuperating, you just escaped life threatening ordeal and you want to jump into another?"

"It wasn’t life threatening and L-0-0-1 is not on my squad, I met with the replacement Matyrs and we are good to go."

His skull pounded at his words.

This son of a gun...

"Lex is going with you... wait for her arm to fully heal and then I’ll grant you ship pass."

It was a lie.

He planned to stall for as long as he could.

He wanted Thira back but he wasn’t willing to risk his men as well. If someone had taken the doctor out into deep fuck ass space, going after them head on wasn’t a good idea.

"Why should Lex’s condition hold us back? We are complete as a squad already!"

"Did you go to the ring?"

"What?"

The Matyr looked thrown off by the sudden question.

"Did you go to the ring?"

"Circumstances didn’t let me... besides a certain person placed me on lockdown."

Fairs.

"Circumstances had me put you on lockdown and now the same circumstances require that you sit still and wait for Lex to recover."

"Why are you so adamant on her going? Need her to spy on me...again?"

Of course Lex blew her cover...

"And I know it’s not the first or second time."

Shit.

"I would feel more at ease if she went with you, that is all."

"Fuck this."

"Yeah and get the fuck out of my office."

K growled and stormed out, his boots landing harder on the ground than normal.

Once the doors shut behind him, Bak leaned back into his seat.

His eyes throbbed beneath their lids.

Lex wasn’t just a spy to keep an eye on K. He needed someone close enough to the Matyr to understand him.

Thira taking out his pellet was a very bad choice to begin with and he had failed to stop it and now the boy was looking for the last thing he had. (><)

Answers.

Not to mention...she was the only one he could trust.

They had been through thick and thin together after all.

One Week After The Glassing of planet Earth and some of her sister planets.

Survivors huddled together in the transport ship, women with their children. The ship rocked back and forth as it weaved through floating asteroids and the scattered remnants of what was once Earth.

In the car corner of the ship sat a injured boy. Dried blood caked around his the side of face, trailing down to his neck. On his dirty casted leg sat a broken stick and a piece of burnt clothing, his eyes stared into nothingness. Empty and void of the little life they had left.

With each swerve the ship took, his stick rolled further away from him but paid it no mind.

The stick rolled and hit a woman’s leg, her scarf rolled down to her neck as she’s turned to see what had hit her. Fiery red hair spilled in waves when she bent over to pick it, carefully holding a large bundle in her other hand.

"This is yours?"

Her accent was thick and heavy to understand, not like the boy could understand English or whatever language she was speaking properly.

So he gave no response.

"My name is Alexandra, what is yours? You look Asian, do you understand what I’m saying?"

Bright green eyes blinked at him.

So much life in them for such a bleak event that had just happened to them.

"I guess it doesn’t matter if you can or cannot understand me, you’re so young..." Her eyes trailed to the burnt cloth in his hand.

"Oh..." her lips curled inward as she fought back tears. "...a loved one, huh?"

She nodded when the boy still didn’t respond.

"I know this would be cruel of me but..." she unwrapped the bundle and a small ball of red her just like hers yawned. A large smile with three missing tooth beamed from the bundle at the boy.

"This is my daughter... I-I haven’t thought of a name for her... can you help me hold her? I want to get our bags from the front so it doesn’t get stolen."

She didn’t wait for his response if he was going to give her one and disappeared among the crowd.

"Hewwo."

"..."

The child in his arms wiggled into a comfortable position and began picking innocently at the dried blood on his face.

"You... sowwy."

Seconds became minutes and bled into hours.

It took some time for the boy to finally realize what had just happened to him.

The woman had deserted her baby with him.
