Chapter 148: Previously Chosen Dragon Bride For Luke
THUD!
With a deafening impact, the colossal body of a thousand-foot-tall Stone Giant crashed onto the earth.
The ground trembled violently.
Mountains of dust shot into the sky as countless cracks spread across the battlefield.
Floating beside the fallen giant was a woman with brilliant golden draconic eyes.
Her long crimson hair danced in the wind, cascading gracefully to her waist, while a double black dragon horn curved proudly from the both side of her forehead.
An overwhelming draconic aura surrounded her, causing the surrounding space to ripple faintly.
"Tch... Another weakling."
Rhaenyra clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction before sweeping her gaze across the battlefield.
Everywhere she looked.
Corpses.
Thousands upon thousands of Stone Giants lay scattered across the devastated land.
Each one radiated the lingering pressure of a Platinum Knight.
Mixed among them were the charred remains of demons, many of whom had reached the Diamond Knight realm.
The battlefield resembled a graveyard.
"If none of you are strong..."
"...then why the hell does every one of you keep invading my territory?"
Her annoyance grew with every passing second.
The next moment.
WHOOSH!
Scarlet dragon fire erupted from her palm.
The terrifying flames engulfed the battlefield.
The giant stone bodies melted into rivers of molten rock within moments, while the demon corpses were reduced to ashes without leaving behind even a bone.
Only scorched earth remained.
"Rhaenyra."
A calm voice suddenly called from behind.
Hearing it, Rhaenyra turned around, her golden draconic eyes narrowing slightly.
Yes.
She was Luke’s third wife.
Rhaenyra Crimsonscale.
The daughter of the Dragon King.
And the granddaughter of the Dragon Emperor.
"What?"
she asked impatiently as she looked toward the newcomer.
Standing behind her was a young woman with long snow-white hair that reached her thighs.
Crystal-like dragon horns extended elegantly from both sides of her head, while her icy blue draconic eyes remained as calm as a frozen lake.
Her younger sister.
Emberlyn Starfall.
According to dragon tradition.
The Hero should have married Emberlyn.
After all, she was the youngest unmarried princess among the Dragon King’s daughters.
Originally, Rhaenyra had also been considered.
Unfortunately.
Emberlyn had become far too powerful.
Rather than sending one of his strongest daughters away, the Dragon King had simply chosen the weakest eligible princess instead.
"When I become even stronger."
"I’ll personally snap both of that old geezer’s horns."
Rhaenyra muttered under her breath.
Unfortunately for her.
Emberlyn heard every single word.
She merely sighed.
This certainly wasn’t the first time her elder sister had threatened to beat their father.
Nor would it be the last.
As for their surnames.
Why was one called Crimsonscale while the other was Starfall?
The reason was simple.
Among dragons—and many noble families possessing ancient bloodlines—their true family names were absurdly long.
Even after shortening them, they remained difficult to pronounce.
Because of that, dragons simply referred to one another by the final part of their lineage title, which usually represented their dragon type.
Otherwise.
Emberlyn’s even small name would be something like.
Emberlyn Xarzith’Drevab Starfall.
Compared to that.
Simply calling her "Starfall" was far easier.
Emberlyn looked directly into Rhaenyra’s eyes before calmly delivering the message she had brought.
"Father has summoned you."
The moment she heard those words.
Rhaenyra’s expression darkened.
Ever since returning from the Holy Light Temple, she had repeatedly asked that old geezer to remove the golden chains restricting her freedom.
She refused to live like a caged beast.
More importantly.
She refused to marry someone weaker than herself.
Yet every single time.
The Dragon King had answered with only one word.
"Later."
And now.
He was calling her back.
"...Fine."
Although clearly dissatisfied, Rhaenyra eventually nodded.
The next instant.
ROOOOAR!!
Brilliant crimson flames and icy-white light erupted simultaneously.
Their human forms disappeared.
In their place appeared two enormous dragons whose wings blotted out the sky.
With a single powerful flap.
BOOM!
The surrounding mountains shook as both dragons shot into the sky, flying toward the distant mountain range whose towering peaks seemed to touch the very edge of Valtharion’s sky.
After traveling for a few hours, they finally landed on the peak and transformed back into humanoid form, which was surprisingly not covered by snow.
Instead, all types of luxurious jewelry, treasure, gold and many rubies were spread around, like dirt.
’That geezer couldn’t even clean his house.’ Rhaenyra’s face turned to disgust.
Even though most dragons like to collect shiny and costly things, she didn’t like it. Only strength mattered to her.
While Emberlyn’s expression didn’t change much, and she remained calm throughout the journey.
Soon they reached the colossal palace, made entirely of gold, and entered through the huge gate.
Far in the distance.
A humanoid figure stood silently atop a huge throne.
Two magnificent crystal horns extended from his head, while his long silver-white hair flowed behind him like a celestial river. Faint purple starlight shimmered throughout his hair, making it appear as though countless stars had been woven into it.
His pair of eyes resembled miniature galaxies.
Endless stars revolved within them.
If Luke had been present, he would have been greatly shocked.
Because the man’s appearance bore an uncanny resemblance to Luke’s Cosmic Heart Titan transformation.
"You took long enough."
His mature voice, carrying the weight of thousands of years, calmly reached both sisters.
"Greetings, Father."
Emberlyn gracefully lifted the edge of her skirt before bowing with flawless etiquette.
Astron smiled faintly at his youngest daughter’s manners before shifting his gaze toward his elder daughter.
"Hmph."
"Why have you summoned me, you old geezer?"
Hearing her greeting.
He simply sighed helplessly.
Most dragons naturally inherited personalities influenced by their elemental affinity.
Astron’s element was Astral.
The power of the cosmic energy itself.
As a result, he possessed a calm, patient, and thoughtful temperament.
Emberlyn, on the other hand, possessed three elemental affinities.
Frost. Crystal. Light.
Fortunately, all three granted her a composed and graceful personality.
She rarely lost her temper, regardless of the situation.
’But.’
Astron glanced toward Rhaenyra.
Her burning golden eyes and flowing crimson hair reflected her draconic lineage perfectly.
She was a Fire Dragon.
Hot-blooded. Proud. Impatient.
And irritated by almost everything.
Because of that very personality.
When his wife had proposed marrying Rhaenyra to the newly summoned Hero, Astron had agreed without much hesitation.
Originally.
The marriage had been intended for Emberlyn.
However, he changed his decision at the last moment.
Perhaps.
Marriage would calm Rhaenyra’s fiery temperament.
Instead.
She had abandoned her husband.
Astron’s expression darkened slightly.
The next moment, it returned to normal.
He couldn’t entirely blame her.
After all.
The Hero had been publicly declared talentless.
