Chapter 189: The Gambling on Luke
After finishing off all those who were actively spying on Blackstone, Luke and his Doppelganger covered every place of the whole 1000km road with Watchtowers, which was 100 towers.
Because each had a 5km radius, meaning a 10km diameter. So every watchtower was placed at a 10km distance.
Then he also placed one at the start and one at the end, so the total watchtowers for the roads were 102.
On which, soon guards would mount them.
After that he dismissed his nine doppelgangers and let the one remain in normal human form, who would patrol the whole area around Blackstone territory.
Because for a single human-form doppelganger, he could sustain them almost infinitely.
As his stamina regeneration was way faster than the one doppelganger consumed.
Then he returned back to the territory and placed 10 additional watchtowers around the whole 1km long, 800m wide territory. To show dominance and prevent some foolish people from provoking him or doing theft in his territory, under the astonished gaze of citizens.
While Luke was doing this, four people, three men and one woman, were watching his actions from the building of the Alchemist Association. Each gaze held different meaning, which they didn’t say out loud.
These four were the new managers the union assigned to Blackstone territory. And each represented one faction.
ALCHEMIST ASSOCIATION BRANCH - The Wolf’s Bane
BLACKSMITH ASSOCIATION BRANCH - The Cinder Smithy
MERCHANT GUILD BRANCH - The Silver Exchange
ADVENTURER GUILD BRANCH - Sapphire Trail
There was not any Mage Association or other association present in Blackstone. At least for now.
"How arrogant!" Hermes Bane shouted, while seeing Luke placing those buildings.
Hermes Bane was an elderly old man, with a frail body and long white hair and beard.
Even though, from his clothes he was exuding a scholarly aura, as he was the newly assigned manager of The Wolf’s Bane, the Alchemist Association.
His whole personality still showed his arrogant personality, because of his career as an Alchemist, in which they found themselves superior. Plus he was also a mid-golden knight.
So seeing Luke, the Baron of this territory, had not come to meet him to pay his respects, he became angry.
Hearing his angry voice, the others didn’t react, which worsened his mood more.
Because he didn’t want to come to this backward place at all. Even the Alchemist Association was a giant, which was a union of millions of Alchemist organizations.
But still each organization operated alone. Like, he was from The Wolf’s Bane, who started their journey by researching the wolf beast.
Which later made them famous, because they developed potions related to wolves, which could even grant wolf-like powers, such as enhanced senses, smell, hearing, and claws.
They even generated some potions, which on higher rank, could allow the person to transform into a wolf, which soared the popularity of their organization to another level.
Of course, they sold other potions as well.
So the headquaters opened this branch here because of the Stormhowl Mountains, which had all types of beasts, and among them, many rare species of wolves could also be found.
"Is it because he is a hero that he thinks he is someone great?" He again shouted, on which the others still didn’t show any reaction.
Because the association they were part of, in front of them, even emperors had to lower their demands sometimes. So what was a hero in front of them?
Because all of them had rich history and many powerhouses were even sitting there.
"This hero is not suitable for our support at all." Hermes shouted again, but this time in total refusal.
Because of this, he was sent here to identify the hero’s talent and recruit Luke.
In the start, they would support him, and when he became strong, or along the journey, he would advertise their name while also helping them in need.
This method was perfect and had already worked with previous heroes. But sadly, The Wolf’s Bane didn’t have any hero or high-status people under them or connected with them.
Which was why they wanted to gamble on Luke.
But now, seeing Hermes’s behavior, it seemed difficult.
"Calm down Hermes." Chalybs Cinder, an 8-foot muscular man, said in a calm voice to him.
He was also the manager of THE CINDER SMITHY — Blacksmith Association Branch.
His family was famous for making amazing quality weapons and armor using their ancestral Cinder technique.
He as well here for the same reason as Hermes, and along with that an mid-golden knight.
Hearing Chalybs’s voice, Hermes calmed down a little bit, and with a hmph!, he took a seat toward the table before sitting down.
Jasper Merrick from his seat watched all the drama. He was the manager of THE SILVER EXCHANGE — Merchant Guild Branch.
They followed one motto.
*"Gold is for kings. Silver is for the people. And the people are where true wealth is built."*
And that’s why they placed this name for their merchant organization.
Jasper was an adult man. Even though he was in his 60s, his hair was still black, trimmed, and the same for his beard.
Even his whole body was fit.
He was around 6 feet, and was am mid-golden knight who had the same purpose as those two.
But there was a problem.
He lost in thought after hearing the news from the merchants.
’Two types of potions.’ These potions were the problem for Hermes, the Alchemist organization, which was also one of the reasons he was angry at Luke.
And he was also worried, because he had heard that Baron Luke was opening a store, which might spread to other places.
Even though he didn’t think Baron Luke could create a large merchant organization like they did.
But still, this could conflict with their business.
’Whatever, having a hero’s support is more important.’ He thought, while shaking his head to remove earlier thoughts.
Then he looked toward the last person, who was a female demi, a tiger woman. Raya Tempestas.
The manager of SAPPHIRE TRAIL — Adventurer Guild Branch.
