Chapter 101: Learn What? How to Squander a Fortune?
Zelda’s gaze fell sharply on the hand gripping his arm. "Let go," he said with disgust.
Olay’s expression changed. Not only did he not let go, but his grip tightened. "Hand over that female."
Zelda coldly tried to pull his arm away. "You’re welcome to search all you want, but I don’t have time to entertain your nonsense."
However, he tugged twice and couldn’t break free. Zelda attacked him directly with his other hand. Olay leaned back, dodging the strike, but was forced to release his grip in the process.
The two stood facing each other.
Zelda was in a hurry to meet up with Hu Yan and had no time to get entangled with him, so he turned to leave.
But Olay wouldn’t have it, repeatedly blocking his path.
Being blocked again and again infuriated Zelda, who transformed into his beast form and charged at Olay.
Zelda’s upper body was bare, and his lower half was a deep blue fishtail. His nails were sharp enough to pierce a person’s skin with one swipe, and his scales shimmered with a chilling light. He quickly gathered a pale blue ball of superpower in his hand and hurled it at Olay.
"ROAR—"
Olay quickly transformed into a leopard, swiftly dodging to the side before lunging back at him.
Zelda whipped his tail at Olay, stirring up a gale that sent everything in the room flying.
The force pushed Olay back several steps. In a flash, Zelda appeared before him and swatted him away.
However, Olay seemed to have been prepared for this. He twisted his head and bit into Zelda’s side.
But Zelda’s reaction was just as fast. He grabbed Olay with both hands, his sharp nails digging into flesh, and lifted him into the air.
His bulging muscles were a terrifying sight.
The next second, Olay was thrown out and slammed onto the ground.
"BANG—"
His body skidded a meter from the momentum, and he was immediately seized by Zelda’s subordinates.
Merfolk were skilled fighters, and Zelda’s spiritual power was slightly stronger than Olay’s. There was little suspense in his victory.
But because he couldn’t afford to offend the Eldest Prince just yet, he only ordered his men to hold Olay and release him when they were about to leave.
Olay shifted back to his human form. Where Zelda’s nails had pierced him, two large five-fingered wounds oozed blood. He struggled violently, causing the bleeding to worsen.
He roared in fury, "I’ll report this to the Eldest Prince! You stole the female he wanted! The Eldest Prince won’t let this go!!"
Zelda, also back in human form, said flatly, "I trust the Eldest Prince can judge for himself."
With that, he left.
Olay’s appearance had forced him to change his plans.
He hadn’t expected the usually brainless Olay to have figured part of it out. Now, he had to return to the Main Star first before he could rendezvous with Hu Yan.
’It works out, though. I need to go back and get something for Hu Yan anyway.’
Meanwhile, back in the Unowned Star System, Lang Qiu suddenly remembered he was still carrying someone and hastily set the person down.
Bai Zhi looked over and saw that Saye looked unwell. She patted Hu Yan, signaling for him to put her down, then walked over and asked, "Saye, are you okay?"
Saye clutched his stomach, feeling dizzy and light-headed, as if he might collapse at any moment.
He had been carried over the shoulder of the tall Beastman in front of him, who had been running at full speed. He felt like he was about to throw up everything he had eaten for breakfast.
Hearing Bai Zhi’s voice now, he forced himself to shake his head.
Bai Zhi glanced around. They didn’t seem far from where their Starship was parked. "Why don’t you come rest on our Starship for a bit? You don’t look so good."
Saye shook his head. "I... just... need a moment... I’ll be fine."
Seeing this, Bai Zhi didn’t insist. "Then you should go home and rest. Thank you for bringing us here. Oh, right. If you can, you should probably move with your mother. Maybe in a new place, her mood will improve, and her health will recover."
Saye hesitated. It wasn’t just about his mother moving; it was also that they hadn’t gotten any Crystal Stones yet. "Don’t... you need... me to take... you there... again?"
Bai Zhi smiled. "We can find the place now. Thank you for your hard work. But if you dig up any more later, you can sell them to me. We’ll buy them at market price."
Hearing this, Saye hesitated, but thinking of his mother, he finally nodded.
’It wasn’t just him; his mother needed medicine. But he could give them a few extra each time. If they needed help with anything, he would do his best to help, although they probably didn’t need his help at all.’
After Saye left, Bai Zhi and the others looked around the area. There was a small market selling daily necessities and goods brought by merchants from other star systems. After a look around, they returned to the Starship as it was getting dark.
She had chosen to come to this star system for a few reasons. First, she wanted to see what an Unowned Star System, as described by Xiang Ling, was like, and what this new type of Crystal Stone she mentioned actually was. Although Saye had given her a whole basket of Crystal Stones, she hadn’t yet determined if they had any use or were just pretty.
Second, she wanted to see if she could trigger a quest for an Unowned Star System. ’If I can snag an Unowned Star System from the System, I’ll be the ruler of a whole star! Isn’t that way cooler than buying a house or a car?!’
The most crucial reason was that those people had shown up so suddenly, and not knowing where else to go, she decided to come here for a look and see what an Unowned Star System was really like.
She had just checked the Unowned Star System that the System had given her. Because no Spirit Stones were detected during the initial survey, it hadn’t been developed at all and was even more barren than this one.
’But it has one advantage.’ She saw that the vegetation on her star system was lush, which meant it hadn’t been tainted by pollution. ’That will save a fortune on hiring a Purification Master.’
’Although I’m a Purification Master myself, with a star system that big, it would take me forever to do it all alone...’
’Once I have money, I can build houses, set up Hovercar routes, and invite other Beastmen and females to live there, as well as get major companies to set up shop.’
’Hu Yan’s army could be stationed there directly, too.’
’Then, I’ll encourage everyone to farm, teach them how to cook, and develop the star system into something just like the modern era.’
Bai Zhi felt wonderful just thinking about it.
Hu Yan noticed Bai Zhi was smiling to herself as she walked. "What are you thinking about?"
Bai Zhi answered subconsciously, "About how to build a brand new star system."
"Er..."
The moment the words were out, she realized she had let it slip.
Looking up, she met Hu Yan’s smiling eyes. Bai Zhi swallowed hard and quickly averted her gaze. ’He’s trouble! Pure trouble!’
But just then, Hu Yan said in a warm voice, "Your dream is a grand one, my lady. I must learn from you."
His low, gentle voice tickled her ear, and the warmth of his breath made Bai Zhi clear her throat uncomfortably and rub her ear.
Bai Zhi retorted, "Learn what? How to squander a fortune?"
