Chapter 161: Discovered
The voice on the other end had clearly been processed, revealing only a cold, robotic tone. "What happened with him was an accident. Rest assured, as long as you do as I say, I guarantee he’ll be obedient."
The Insect Mother: "You’d better be right this time. Otherwise, I’ll show you the price of angering me!"
The person on the other end said reassuringly, "Don’t worry. Since I dared to cooperate with you, I certainly won’t screw you over. Otherwise, wouldn’t I just be handing you leverage for nothing?"
The Insect Mother snorted. "As if you’d dare."
Then, the person on the other end spoke again. "Have the insects I requested arrived?"
The Insect Mother let out a strange laugh. "It’s been done as you asked. I’m afraid they’ve probably succeeded by now."
Hearing this, the person on the other end sounded agitated. "I never thought he’d leave such a huge weakness so close by! This time, I’ll make sure he never appears before me again!"
The entire Insect Mother sprawled on the bed, laughing strangely. "Well, I wish you success. Don’t forget what you promised when the time comes."
"You’d better tell those insects under you to be careful. Hu Yan is extremely clever. He excels at winning against overwhelming odds. Be careful not to let him..."
But before he could finish, a voice came from outside. "How did you get in here!"
Immediately followed by a cacophony of noise and the sound of the Insect Clan’s alarm.
Just as Hu Yan was about to hear the crucial part, he was interrupted. He had no choice but to first deal with the Insect Clan members who had discovered them.
At that moment, the person on the other end said furiously, "Shit! You actually let someone infiltrate your territory and didn’t even notice!"
With that, he immediately disconnected the video call.
The Insect Mother clearly hadn’t expected anyone to break in either. The fat on her body trembled with anger. After all, even though most of the Insect Clan had been sent out, there were still nearly ten thousand of them left in the nest, with patrols constantly on duty. How could someone still manage to get in!
And of all times, it had to be now!
The moment Hu Yan heard the alarm, he notified the people outside.
Although they took care of the one who sounded the alarm immediately, the warning had already gone out. In an instant, the entire Insect Clan swarmed out of the nest.
"Protect the Insect Mother! Retreat!"
The adjutant’s face was grim as he looked at the sheer number of Insect Clan members. He tried to block Hu Yan’s front, his voice low. "Third Prince, you go first!"
But Hu Yan didn’t leave. He simply stretched out his hand, released his spiritual power, and with a slight pulse, sent most of the first wave of charging Insect Clan members flying.
Just then, a sudden rumbling sound echoed out.
This was followed by the ground shaking violently. Many of the Crystal Stones on the walls fell due to the intense tremors, and both Hu Yan and his adjutant swayed from the force of it.
At this, a lead Tiger Beetle shouted in fury, "Someone’s blasting our main gate! It must be these two Beastmen’s comrades! Kill them!"
When they had entered, Hu Yan had used his spiritual power to deal with the doors. But after the alarm sounded, the Insect Clan had initiated a full lockdown, forcing the people Hu Yan left outside to use cannons to blast the doors open.
At that, every member of the Insect Clan swarmed toward the two of them.
Hu Yan and his adjutant stood back-to-back.
BANG—
BANG! BANG—
One shot, one kill.
The Insect Mother’s appearance was exquisitely decorated—exquisite in the eyes of the Insect Clan, at least. Every beautiful piece of jewelry and all its gems were worn on the Insect Mother’s body, but due to her exceptionally plump figure, the effect was somewhat incongruous.
The Insect Mother, heavily guarded by a group of Insect Clan warriors, slowly emerged from the dim room. Every step she took seemed heavy and powerful, as if the very ground trembled beneath her feet.
THUD. THUD. THUD—
These heavy footsteps were completely different from the earlier sounds of bombardment during the battle; they carried a disquieting rhythm.
Hearing this unusual sound, Hu Yan and his adjutant couldn’t help but turn their heads.
They saw the Insect Mother slowly walking toward them, her figure looking exceptionally large in the dim underground space.
The Insect Mother’s height was astonishing, reaching nearly eight or nine meters, as if this underground space had been tailor-made for her.
Her body was massive and bloated, covered in thick layers of fat. With every step, that fat would ripple like waves.
Even the muscles on the adjutant’s face began to twitch slightly from the vibrations of the Insect Mother’s movements.
As the Insect Mother drew closer, the items on the tables and the rubble on the ground began to vibrate with her steps, shaking more and more violently.
Hu Yan and his adjutant exchanged a glance. They clearly hadn’t expected the Insect Mother to be this enormous.
Before the Insect Mother, the two of them seemed exceptionally tiny.
The Insect Mother lowered her massive body, looking down at the two of them with her huge eyes.
Finally, her gaze fell upon Hu Yan, her voice low and strange. "I know you. You’re that Hu Yan who caused me to lose so many of my elite subordinates. Weren’t you supposed to be in that pathetic place of yours, beaten to your knees and begging for mercy by my underlings?"
For a moment, Hu Yan and his adjutant were speechless.
’This Insect Mother is incredibly arrogant.’
Then, as if she had suddenly remembered something, the Insect Mother’s strange voice sounded again. "You really are as clever as he said. I just didn’t expect you to be so bold as to dare break in here."
As the Insect Mother spoke, a bizarre smile curled her lips. "But, since you’re here, you might as well leave your corpse behind."
The adjutant could take no more. He raised his gun and fired repeatedly at the Insect Mother. "Haven’t you ever heard that the villain dies from talking too much?"
Hu Yan sensed something was wrong. He was about to reach out and stop his adjutant, but he was a step too late. The bullets were already in the air.
The Insect Mother glanced down at where the bullets had sunk in. The next moment, the adjutant saw her take a deep breath, and her body swelled up instantly. "WHOOSH—"
As if propelled by an unseen force, the bullets shot back out, embedding themselves in the wall with a THUD.
Seeing this, Hu Yan’s eyes narrowed slightly. ’Just as I expected.’
The adjutant’s eyes widened in disbelief. He muttered to himself, "This... this is impossible."
The bullets that had hit the Insect Mother’s fat had actually been bounced back out by her!
In contrast to their shock, all the members of the Insect Clan were enraged by their actions. "You dare to harm the Insect Mother! Kill them!"
At once, all the Insect Clan warriors surged forward like a pack of bloodthirsty beasts, vowing to tear the intruders to shreds.
Just then, the captain arrived on the scene with reinforcements, having followed the trail of spiritual power Hu Yan had left behind.
Seeing Hu Yan and his men surrounded by the Insect Clan, the squad leader immediately yelled, "Third Prince!"
When the Insect Clan saw them, a fierce battle instantly erupted between the two sides.
