Chapter 155: Safe Return
Knowing that Hu Yan and the others were prepared, he wasn’t as worried anymore. Besides, Hu Yan was Divine Class now. Dealing with those members of the Insect Clan would be a piece of cake for him.
Yue Junxiao had just that kind of blind faith in Hu Yan.
After all, even if he had several more brains, he still couldn’t compare to Hu Yan’s intellect.
How could those brainless members of the Insect Clan possibly outsmart a fox as cunning as him?!
Bai Zhi thought for a moment and asked, "Do you know the characteristics of those Evolution Species?"
Sang Mo crossed his arms, looking at her with a raised eyebrow. Instead of answering, he retorted, "What? You want to help?"
"If I can help, of course I want to," Bai Zhi nodded.
She did indeed want to know the specific characteristics and strengths of the Evolution Species so she could ask the system if it had anything that could help.
Sang Mo stared at her for a few seconds before finally saying, "I’m currently aware of three types. The first is called the Enchanting Heart Worm. This insect can create an Illusion Realm and bewitch people. The second is the Illusion Insect, which can change its appearance to look like someone else, to the point that even instruments can’t tell the difference. The last one is a venomous insect, and it’s the one they are most proud of."
"Because any place it crawls over becomes contaminated. Anyone who touches it will be poisoned, and most importantly, there is no antidote."
"This insect has one major advantage: it’s tiny, so no one ever notices it. Though it’s small, its venom is extremely potent."
Yue Junxiao unconsciously muttered, "If the Insect Clan mass-produces these three types and has them sneak in..."
Although Yue Junxiao didn’t finish his sentence, the implication made everyone’s expression turn grim.
If that were the case, the last type would be truly impossible to guard against.
One might be able to guard against the first two types by being extra careful, but the last one... They could strike while you’re resting, during battle, or even be dropped from the air. The moment you’re contaminated, it’s over.
If this type is mass-produced, the Insect Clan will be unstoppable.
Bai Zhi immediately asked the system, ’Is there a way to deal with these types of insects?’
System: "Yes. The store has a powder that can make any species visible. The Detoxification Pill I sold you last time can neutralize any poison and grants immunity to all poisons for a long time."
Bai Zhi asked again, "What about the Enchanting Heart Worm?"
System: "The store has a type of glasses that can block all attacks."
Hearing this, Bai Zhi immediately said without hesitation, "I want them. I want all three. Give me ten thousand sets to start."
The system reminded her, "Host, allow me to remind you that you do not have enough Star Coins to pay for this."
Bai Zhi raised an eyebrow. "I may not have it, but Hu Yan does!"
Hu Yan had told her before that she could spend his money however she wanted. Now was the time to take him up on that offer!!
Hearing this, the system was speechless for a rare moment.
System: "The total is 15.4 billion Star Coins."
The glasses and the Detoxification Pills were the most expensive items. In comparison, the revealing powder was relatively cheap since only a small amount was needed to be effective.
Bai Zhi sent a message to Hu Yan, telling him about the situation. Then she turned to Sang Mo and the others and said, "I have a solution. Let’s head back first."
Hearing this, a flash of surprise crossed Sang Mo’s eyes as he looked at Bai Zhi. He began to re-evaluate her.
Through their interactions during this period, he had clearly sensed that something was off about Bai Zhi.
But because he loathed her entire family, he had ignored it. Now, however, he was realizing something. If the family he once hated was already dead...
...then Bai Zhi’s behavior, which was like that of a completely different person, would make sense. This, combined with the items she procured from unknown sources and the mysterious appearance of Star Coins, all pointed to this conclusion.
The change in Bai Zhi likely happened on the day she released him. That would explain how someone who seemed to want to stab him one second could suddenly release him and even buy him things the next.
Bai Zhi suddenly felt as if she were being stared at. She instinctively looked around, only to meet Sang Mo’s deep, dark eyes.
She pursed her lips. ’Why is Sang Mo staring at me? Is he planning something again?’
’But his expression doesn’t look like it.’
Sang Mo raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Why are you looking at me?"
Bai Zhi was speechless. "Weren’t you the one looking at me first?"
Sang Mo: "How did you know I was looking at you if you weren’t looking at me?"
Bai Zhi: "..."
She turned her head away and stopped looking at him.
But she could still feel his gaze on her, and she had to do her best to ignore it.
Hu Yan had just arrived at the palace. The Emperor spoke with him at length, giving him some final instructions. At last, just as Hu Yan was about to leave, the Emperor suddenly called out to him. "Xiao Yan."
Hu Yan’s figure paused.
"Come back safely."
"It doesn’t matter if you can win or not. All that matters is that you’re safe."
This last sentence was spoken as a father to his son.
After a few seconds, Hu Yan grunted in acknowledgment and strode away.
He had just received the message from Bai Zhi. They had already prepared countermeasures, but with the items Bai Zhi could provide, he was now certain of victory.
Before yesterday, he’d only been fifty percent confident. When Bai Zhi helped him ascend to the Divine realm, that confidence rose to sixty or seventy percent. Now, with these targeted solutions, it shot up from sixty percent straight to ninety-nine percent.
Hu Yan sent his adjutant to retrieve the items. He then personally made a trip to Bai Zhi’s star system. When he opened the door to that unique, enormous house and saw what was inside, Hu Yan was filled with a mix of complex emotions. He hadn’t expected Bai Zhi to have prepared so many combat Mechas for him, along with basic medicine and supplies.
What are the most crucial things in war?
Weapons, medicine, and supplies—not one could be missing.
But Bai Zhi had prepared all three for him. Although the quantity wasn’t huge, it was the thought that counted.
She had even provided him with solutions for the Evolution Species of the Insect Clan that had been the most troublesome for him.
He had only just left, but Hu Yan felt like he was already starting to miss her.
The war hadn’t even begun, yet he was already desperate for it to end quickly.
This was a feeling he had never experienced before.
He loaded all the Mechas into his spatial storage. This was his old storage space, and even after putting everything in, there was still plenty of room.
He had only one thought now: eliminate the Insect Clan as quickly as possible and go back to her.
Hu Yan then boarded a Warship to rendezvous with his adjutant.
War on the front lines was imminent.
Meanwhile, Sates had arrived at the front line and was facing a giant spider. It had a maw on its abdomen, and anyone swallowed by it would be quickly digested unless they could cut their way out from the inside.
It was currently staring menacingly at Sates, and it spoke without any courtesy, "We even killed that so-called War God of yours. You’re no match for us. You might as well surrender now!"
