Chapter 2294 - 2298: Perilous Moments (5)
Noticing the power lines up ahead, Leng Zimo suddenly pulled the helicopter up, and taking advantage of that moment, Luo Ke also led a few men charging through the doorway.
Skirting the power lines, Leng Zimo aimed the helicopter at the entrance and pressed the switch again.
Rat-tat-tat...
Bullets spat out once more, shattering the glass on the doors and windows.
"Go grab the weapons!"
Luo Ke sprang onto the steps leading to the basement, and another subordinate behind him was hit by a bullet and slid straight down the stairs.
He didn’t have many men to begin with, and now, including Luo Ke, there were only three left.
Trailing Luo Ke into the weapons room, none of the three said a word; they simply, as if on cue, grabbed heavy hardware off the racks—rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, that kind of thing.
By this time, Leng Zimo had also started firing at the basement windows, but because the windows were so small, the effect of his attack was limited.
"Give it to me!"
Luo Ke snatched the rocket launcher from his subordinate’s hands and rushed to one of the windows himself.
In the chaos he didn’t have time to really aim before squeezing the trigger.
Boom!
The rocket shot out diagonally from the basement’s small window, slammed into the helicopter’s landing gear, and erupted into a sheet of flame.
The helicopter was buffeted by the blast wave and lost its balance; seeing the timing go bad, Leng Zimo didn’t bother with the chopper anymore. He kicked the cabin door open and dove out.
Scrape!
The helicopter pitched over, its massive rotors still spinning as they carved across the ground, gouging deep furrows. Sand and stones flew as the burning fuselage scraped along the ground and smashed obliquely into the corner of the second floor.
With a deafening roar, the helicopter exploded; countless steel plates mixed with chunks of stone blasted into the air, tongues of fire spewed out, the flowers in the beds were scorched, and several big trees around them turned into pillars of flame in an instant.
Leng Zimo had just pushed himself up from the ground when the powerful blast wave rolled over him, flinging him away to crash heavily onto the lawn.
His ears were ringing non-stop, and because he’d been so close to the blast, the massive explosion had thrown his hearing into a brief state of deafness.
"Get out there and kill him!"
Luo Ke dropped the rocket launcher, grabbed a short submachine gun at hand, and led the charge out the door. The two subordinates, knowing the helicopter was toast, rushed out of the building with him.
He swept a glance around; by the light of the flames the three of them immediately spotted Leng Zimo struggling up from the lawn. Luo Ke raised his gun to fire.
Not far away, Leng Zirui was already sprinting over. He instantly raised his pistol and fired in the trio’s direction.
The subordinate on the left was hit by his bullet and collapsed limply to the ground, while Luo Ke and the other man ducked to either side of the doorway.
"Big Bro!"
Leng Zirui leaped over a tongue of fire and landed beside Leng Zimo. He grabbed him by the arm, hauling him up and dragging him behind a tree.
Luo Ke and his man had already rushed out and were firing toward the two brothers.
Bullets howled past the side of the tree and slammed into the woods not far away.
"How are you?!" Leng Zirui asked, worried, staring at Leng Zimo leaning against the trunk.
"I’m fine." Leng Zimo drew in a breath—he’d been knocked around by the blast wave and was a bit dizzy from the fall, but he was already feeling much better.
Leng Zirui quickly checked him over; seeing he hadn’t taken any serious hits and his mental state was decent, he finally relaxed. "Stay here. Leave the rest to me."
"No way." Leng Zimo grabbed his wrist. "They’ve got big guns. You stay here and draw their fire; I’ll circle around from the back."
...
Good afternoon
