After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 2179: Foreigner’s Observations

Violet hair was a fairly unusual hair colour. They could not help but think of a possibility, and their brain got scrambled when they considered it.

Was it really her? After all this time looking, did they finally find her!?

All this time, all they had were rumors. Wherever they asked directly about her, the person either didn’t know who she was, they were directly avoided (because their frantic looks were scary), or they were reported.

"Hey, you!" They yelled without thinking. And indeed, when the woman turned, they saw that bitch Cassandra!

Without thinking, both of them rushed over, intending to attack.

"YOU!!"

"Stop!" The merchant yelled. "ON THE FLOOR RIGHT NOW!"

Bang!

They were slaves right now, so his words literally threw them smack to the ground. Their bodies hit the floor with such a loud thud that several people turned to look, thinking there was a small explosion in this direction.

Casso and Cessi gritted their teeth, feeling the soreness in their bodies. Most of all, on their pride.

Did that Cassandra see?

The person they looked down on and bullied saw them in such a state had brought great psychological torture to the siblings.

Damned bastard! I will skewer you, dismember you, and feed your internal organs to beasts!!

"Do you want to be thrown to prison?!" Balbo exclaimed, kicking them, and they cursed internally. The siblings didn’t even bother hiding their curses anymore, which made the man kick them more. Heck, Balbo’s assistant was there. He didn’t need prompting to discipline these slaves who had no good thing coming out of their mouths.

Slaves weren’t protected by rules, and many slave masters took advantage of this fact.

SMACK! SLAP!

BANG!

The passersby looked in concern, but it wasn’t their business. Besides, they could hear the vicious curses of the slaves. Any master would be livid.

Besides, many of them saw the slaves rush over to Cassandra. If there were a clear view of a sentry there, they would’ve been shot. In a sense, these slaves were still lucky.

Many of the passersby stayed for various reasons. Some knew Cassandra and were concerned, also wanting to find out the identity of the slaves, while others were just watching a show.

Even in a world with the internet, gossip was a prevalent past time, let alone now, when there was no such thing as social media.

After venting for a few minutes, the merchant finally calmed down and then met the eyes of Urkin and Cassandra.

His whole demeanor softened. The angry expression had all but disappeared, and he looked rather polite to both of the people standing in front of him.

He somewhat knew Lady Cassandra was alive and he nodded politely, but who surprised him more was Urkin, an old friend and was once a noble as well.

"So you’re really alive," Balbo said.

Urkin laughed, approaching him, and they did a friendly greeting. "Good to see you."

"You’ve been nourished!"

Ulric looked at the merchant’s tabby stomach. "Same with you."

The merchant then looked at Lady Cassandra and then the stroller in front of her with a beautiful child. His gaze lingered on the child, feeling that the child was very beautiful, before looking at Althea again. "Lady Cassandra."

"Bolbo," she greeted back with a smile. He was one of the people who traded with her and Veronica back when they were still introducing Alterran goods as middlemen.

They knew each other before, with Urkin as one of the big caravans in Jacoba while Bolbo was from Ester Town.

The two slaves under their feet continuously cursed while their mouths were on the floor, and the trio pretended they were not there.

"Damnit! You bitch!"

"SHUT UP!" Bolbo ordered, and the two slaves’ mouths looked like they were glued together.

Their faces, already red from anger and humiliation, pretty much turned purple because they forgot to breathe in their fury.

"Now crawl to that park and stop bothering us while we catch up! Help pick up weeds or something!"

The siblings crawled and cursed, their hearts and brains physically hurting as they drowned in strong emotions like resentment, but they could only do their job which made it even worse.

But this was their life for now, damnit!

Bolbo bellowed out his orders one by one, and the bitter siblings were bound with tasks for a long time later.

He would make them so busy they would have no time to scheme for a while.

....

Cassandra’s eyes showed not much emotion as she looked at her half-siblings crawl.

Amusingly, because they were crawling on the walkway, many people had to step over them. What was the saying here? Get stepped over and don’t grow taller?

Further, because it was a relatively busy street, many people don’t see them at all and step on them directly.

Their faces remained purple. The humiliation!!!

...

While this was going on, several of the newly arrived caravans were still touring around. They all had varying expressions on their faces, but most were leaning towards curiosity and greed. As for what kind of greed this was, if it was the kind with action or if it was the innocuous kind, time would tell.

The other parties went around with different routes, and Laikon, the leader, as well as an assistant, went around their initial route after going around with the guide. They had been taken the more comprehensive tour, but because of the time, they couldn’t stay too long.

Now, they were going around particularly notable areas.

He had his own specific purpose, after all. One of the first things he wanted to be clear about was why all these experts were adamant in staying in Alterra.

Of course, comprehensive tours contained just the information Alterra was willing to give out, and all tour groups submit itineraries as well as knowledge points for approval every year.

Still, whatever was revealed to him was still impressive. In terms of facilities, Alterra was indeed far superior to any Town and not far from a city.

If Alterra developed like this for several more years, then perhaps a City’s remaining advantage would be the concentration of aether, which was something even the weakest City would have over the strongest towns.

But...things changed rather quickly, and Laizon found himself a little shaken by the realization.

Laizon, one of the more sensitive powerhouses. He narrowed his eyes, looking around, fixing in the direction of the farms.

"This place...I feel similar levels of energy from a city."

What is going on?
