Age of Adepts

Chapter 0855 - Witch War

The factional war between witches in the North was obviously completely different from that in the middle of the continent.

In the Scattered Tallinn region in the middle of the continent, once two witch families started a war, it was extremely destructive and aggressive, and would easily end with the extinction of one of the witch families as the base condition for the war to end.

The loser would perish and the winner would take it all!

The failed wizard family would be uprooted by the enemy, and even their last name would be completely erased.

And the victor would devour everything the enemy had to offer, capturing the other family's territories and resource points, capturing the other family's witches and apprentices, and growing fast on the enemy's bones.

The witches of the North, however, have some extremely harsh rules of war among themselves.

No slaughtering each other's people, no destroying each other's resources, and no unnecessary killing of each other's witches and apprentices... Under such harsh warfare conditions, if any side fails to control the scope of the war and disturbs the local people or affects other witch factions, they will be directly sentenced to a loss.

So the war between witches was elegant and controlled, far less dark and brutal than in the Scattered Taryn!

Hearing all of this, Mary and Billis sighed in disappointment at the same time.

For them, only the constant war could sustain them to keep moving forward. Their strength was entirely poured out by the blood of their enemies.

And this Witch War, with so many restrictions, obviously couldn't allow them to have a gleeful fight. This also made them lack interest in the upcoming Witch War, and they couldn't lift their spirits at all.

With the resolution made by the Witch Council, it was clear that Grim couldn't interfere in this war. However, his many men were not restricted in this regard, and could have joined the Destiny Witch team as outside help, becoming super thugs who rushed to the front lines of the war.

However, Alice had also clearly warned that it was inappropriate for any of the 3rd rank of the Crimson Family to get involved in this matter.

Whether it was the 3rd stage Thunder Dragon Ames or the Emerald Dragoness Aretina, or the 2nd stage Brain Splitting Gru, once they appeared on the battlefield, it would immediately lead to an escalation of the war.

The Fate Witches were able to bring in foreign help, but couldn't the Winter Witches?

Not to mention, the Winter Witch Chieftain, Morgana, would only need to use up a few favors to invite any of the 4th rank witches, and this war would lose all meaning.

Therefore, at the beginning of the war, it was imperative not to be caught off guard and let that Moganna's desperate determination to waste such a valuable favor go to waste. This... was perhaps the most crucial aspect of this war!

Of course, with Alice here, that Morgana's psychological bottom line was no longer a secret.

As long as the 3rd rank of the Crimson Family, or the 2nd rank of the Brain Splitting Grew doesn't appear on the battlefield, Morgana will absolutely not be willing to use these Winter Witch Faction's killer weapons.

Moreover, Mogane was able to use the past favors left by the Winter Witch faction to invite some 4th-rank witches, and Alice, as the leader of the Destiny Witches, naturally had similar cards in her hand. Once the war was fought to such an extent, what each other consumed was the other's faction heritage.

In general, until the moment of survival of the faction, no witch leader is willing to spend their own reserves in this meaningless dispute.

Therefore, Alice picked and chose and quickly selected a suitable war team.

As for the 2nd rank witches, Alice was the main one, and then Mary and her vampire war team were added from the Crimson Family side, Zacha the Dragon, Tigure the Goblin, Olivine the Dragon Eater, and Plague Poison Spirit.

As for the Worm Witch Billis, he was eliminated by Alice herself.

It couldn't be helped, Billis' attack methods were too bloody and cruel, and he was able to exterminate families at every turn. This was a great taboo of war in the North where the lords were few and far between!

The Plague Poison Spirit, however, as Grim's soul armament, had never revealed its strength to outsiders. This time too, it had joined the Fate Witches as an outsider, acting as a frightening spirit with a strange identity.

As long as it didn't indiscriminately release those terrifying plague poisonous germs, even if those Winter Witches had some doubts about its identity, they wouldn't be able to produce any substantial evidence.

As for the 1st rank witches, it had the Berserk Witch Sophia and the Ice Maiden Snowflake as its core, supplemented by a group of blood elves and a large number of improved magic archers. With this kind of strength, it would be enough to deal with the provocations of the Winter Witches!

....................

The war that took place in the Northland eliminated Grim from the beginning.

So while a large number of Crimson Sorcerers rushed to the Northlands to participate in the war, Grim, the originator, returned honestly to the Flame Throne, where he began his semi-reclusive life.

Upon returning to his dwelling, he immediately began to test the first 3rd level sorcery he had mastered after his ascension - Berserk Fireball!

Basically, Fireball can be considered one of the most mastered of the Fire Public Sorceries.

From the apprentice level 'Little Fireball' to the wizard level 'Witchcraft Fireball' to the 2nd level 'Lava Fireball'... ...The power and attack range of the fireball technique was also climbing in a straight line. Now, the 2nd stage lava fireball had been continuously optimized and strengthened by the chip, and was once again upgraded to a 3rd stage berserk fireball, where the increase in power was even more remarkable.

Apprentice level fireball, spell chanting time 3-7 seconds, cooldown time 13 seconds, costing 2 points of mental energy, attack power 30-35 degrees, considered high attack among the same level sorcery. The fireball spell also has a range of 1-2 meters to kill, which is considered a good attack sorcery in terms of cost.

1st level sorcery fireball, spell chanting time 1-5 seconds, cooldown time 11 seconds, costing 2 points of spirit, attack power 90-115 degrees, killing range 3-5 meters....

2nd level Lava Fireball, spell chant time 1-3 seconds, cooldown time 7 seconds, cost 2 points of mental energy, attack power 220-240 degrees, kill range 5-10 meters....

Level 3 Raging Fireball, spell chanting time 1-2 seconds, cooldown time 5 seconds, cost spirit 2 points, attack power 310-330 degrees, killing range 20-30 meters, also comes with two sorcery effects: fire poison and ice flame... ...

This was just the base attack power of Berserk Fireball.

If you counted the 30% increase in power after Grim's Flame Specialization, as well as the professional effects of Flame Sorcery that halved the drain of mental energy, halved the cooldown time, and halved the time of holding the spell, an ordinary 3rd-rank Berserk Fireball would reach a staggering 400-430 degrees of power after being cast by Grim.

This... was astonishing enough for an instantaneous 3rd rank sorcery!

With just this kind of Berserk Fireball, Grim could easily spike those 2nd rank Sorcerers whose Magic Resistance wasn't too high.

Moreover, here in Grim, this kind of Berserk Fireball was still capable of instantaneous fire.

With Grim's current 36 points of mental energy, a Berserk Fireball would only need to consume 1 point of mental energy to be triggered. This also meant that Grim was able to inspire 36 Berserk Fireballs in one breath.

Excluding those evil and powerful existences, there were almost non-existent 3rd rank witches who could withstand the wild bombardment of 36 Berserk Fireballs. Even that Sarubo Clan's 3rd level Sorcerer, Sanaza, might be overpowered to death by the Berserk Fireballs if she didn't transform into a Venomous Flying Dragon.

However, once Sanaza transformed into a Venom Flying Dragon, with the other party's superior anti-demon physique, the fire poison attached to Grim Flame Sorcery would be completely ineffective against the other party, and even the effect of Ice Flame would be greatly reduced.

In an all-out combat situation, if Sanaza broke through to his side, the probability of Grim failing and dying was over 70%. But if Grim could maintain a distance of 100-200 meters for a long time, always attacking the opponent with long-range sorcery, Grim's chances of winning would be as high as 89%.

Of course, such a victory is based on the possibility that the opponent won't run away.

Once the opponent saw the situation and turned around and ran, the sorcery abilities Grim currently possessed wouldn't be enough to leave him behind completely!

So after the chip deduced reinforcement out of Raging Fireball, the second deduced reinforcement task Grim gave it was the Lava Shield.

One attack and one defense.

Attacking with the Berserk Fireball was pretty much enough. And to reach the 3rd level standard on defense, it also needed a suitable 3rd level defense sorcery. Grim thought it over and decided that the Lava Shield had both elemental protection and physical protection, and that it was far superior to the Flame Shield in terms of defense.

Therefore, after considering all the factors, Grim reserved his first Defense Sorcery for Lava Shield!

It should be known that even that 3rd rank Sanaza Sorcerer, after transforming into a Venomous Flying Dragon, possessed a semi-ranged venom spitting ability. Without a qualified 3rd rank defensive sorcery to protect him, Grim would become a greatly brittle skin that would be crushed to bits with the slightest touch.

Moreover, even with Grim's current physique of up to 22 points, he would have to cooperate with the defensive sorcery to achieve the best protection. So with the means to attack, Grim's current most pressing need was to master a 3rd level defensive sorcery that matched his level and attribute as soon as possible!

"Drops, sorcery deduction quest established... Original sorcery model is 2nd level lava shield... Pre-learning satisfied, estimated time spent 48 days 22 hours 37 minutes 54 seconds ......."

Grim couldn't help but sigh long and hard after hearing the feedback from the chip.

At the 3rd level, the knowledge and complexity of the sorcery system had been raised to a new level.

Now, even improving a 2nd stage sorcery would easily take more than a month. If Grim wanted to extrapolate all the 2nd rank sorcery he currently possessed into a new 3rd rank sorcery, it would be difficult to do so without ten years.

The time dimension was no longer as pressing in the eyes of higher-ranked sorcerers as it was in the eyes of lower-ranked sorcerers.

With the lifespan of a 3rd rank wizard, there were hundreds of years at Grim's disposal to spend at will. And those who were not strong-willed could easily indulge in some pleasures and easy living, eventually forgetting the true heart of their sorcerer.

This would clearly not be the case with Grim.

After only resting and adjusting in his residence for a few days, Grim immediately devoted himself to one sorcery experiment after another!
